Second Serpent Lieutenant Requirements

I am trying to get promoted to Second Serpent Lieutenant in the Twin Adder GC and I don't know what to do. I have completed my hunting log through rank 3. Says I need to complete a trial but does not specify as to which one. Please help.

Most likely you have to do Aurum Vale

You need the Gilding the Bilious quest from your GC. (The linked page shows Twin Adder, but they each have a version of that same quest.) It in turn requires running Arum Vale, so I think you also have to have done the Going for Gold quest that unlocks Arum Vale itself. Pick up Going for Gold in Western Thanalan (in the area near Walking Sands), and pick up Gilding the Bilious at your GC headquarters.

Despite what I've seen on a few other discussions, it's not necessary to reach level 50 or to have completed the main scenario. You just have to be level 47 or above, as that's the quest level for Guilding the Bilious, have completed its pre-requisite Shadows Uncast (which you had to anyway to get the previous GC promotion), and be at Chief Sergeant rank.

I have completed the following: A pup no longer/ Shadows Uncast/ Guilding the Bilious/ Like Civilized Men and Women. Vorsaile Heuloix has no quests for me.

Ok, that's weird. You've done one more than I have and I was able to get that final promotion. It's Gilding the Bilious along with the second rank of the GC hunting log that's supposed to unlock it (and did for me). Maybe it's bugged. :(

This is a long shot, but do you have enough GC seals to make the promotion? It requires about 40k worth if I remember rightly to get the final promotion, assuming you've satisfied the other requirements.

Yes, I currently have over 11,000 seals and it requires 8,000. When I request the promotion, it states that I need to complete a trial and complete rank 2 in my hunting log. Then it states that I still need to fulfill the ladder.

And you completed the second rank of your Twin Adder Hunting Log? (Don't confuse it with your Conjurer Hunting Log. You get a log for each class and one for your Grand Company. It's the Grand Company one that needs to be completed through Rank 2.)

I kinda got screwed on this one and had to do AV 2x cause the first one didn't count, I wonder if same happened to you. You have to go back to the AV entrance even if you've unlocked it, and talk to a certain NPC; otherwise you could run AV but the quest itself doesn't see it happening in the sequence it's expecting. :/

It turns out that I had 1 mark left in my Twin Adder Hunting Log. I did confuse the two. Thank you.

I'm having the same problem. The exact same problem.

Have you actually done your Twin Adder Hunting Log (not the class Hunting Log, the Grand Company one - the GC one is below the class ones and can be selected by clicking on the flag of your GC in the Hunting Logs menu, in this case the Gridanian flag). You would be surprised just how many players get caught on this or were completely unaware they even had this Hunting Log so don't feel bad if you did not know about it.

So check your Hunting Log and see if you've missed completing your GC ones (you just need to complete the first two ranks of it, rank 3 is not required for the promotion to 2nd Lieutenant - bare in mind that some monsters on this log can only be found in a certain dungeon so you would need to enter them to do so).

That's for Captain, two ranks above the one EldarFrostwyght was trying to get. (You have to be a 2nd Lieutenant before you can start gathering a squadron.)

It took me like 3 hours to figure out the answer...To get the promotion, you need to first complete the quest called Gilding the Bilious(the trail which the officer referred to), then MAKE SURE the hunting log you complete is the GRAND COMPANY hunting log 2, not your class/job hunting log. Just get into the hunting log page, click on the bottom with your grand company flag patten, and vola~I couldn't believe how much time I wasted on this...ToT...

I'm not certain but I think either quest might work to unlock the dungeon. You may as well get both done at once, though.
