novus and materia question

sory if this has been asked b4 but just a few questions hope some1 can help with please

1 - how many fusions does it take b4 ur forced to stop using level 1/2/3 materias etc and forced to use a higher level materia

like can use level 1 til + ?? then forced to use level 2 or higher til + ??

2- what item levels are best for gettin lvl 3-4 materia please

1. For a 44-point stat, it's 11 of each level of materia. For a 31-point stat, it's 7-8-8-8.

2. The higher the item level, the better the chances of getting a IV. But higher item levels are also more expensive, and limited on where you can SB them (anything over i55, you pretty much have to choose from a selection of instances). Personally, I've just been sticking with i49 stuff, since it can be bound pretty quickly in the open world.

tyvm for the reply i havent melded yet just been trying to stock alexandrites fate grinding n sbing so thought id ask for rough idea

Also you can use spirit binding potion available at your Grand Company and use sb gear from the gc like Patriot choker or something that gives +1 or +2 for spirit binding and i also use a meteor ring to speed up the process. Materia is super expensive no doubt, my Novus is on hold because of it

yeah thats why i asked about the level 4 materia since thats the killer in obtainin novus.. i had about 60 materia sittin in retainer ive been stocking since day 1 n nvr really had a use for it lol but no level 4 that i need :(

Yeah, IVs are a lottery. But if you can craft a full set of SB gear (or get someone to craft it for you) and do a few SB sessions, you should come out ahead, and can use the profits to buy IVs if you don't get any, or to invest in even more SB gear, until you're Scrooge McDuck with the gil. It's hit or miss if you buy all the finished gear off the MB, but even paying a commission fee to get it crafted can be cheaper than that. (Someone in my FC paid me 75k to HQ 10 full sets of leather after he supplied all the mats and shards. Plus a similar deal with someone else for the jewelry. He's still going to come out way ahead in the end.)

For BRD, Cobalt Sallet or Raptorskin Pot Helm (Cobalt Sallet is better, but everything else is LTW, so you might find it easier to stick with LTW for everything on the left side), Raptorskin Voyager's Belt, Jacket, Brais, Armguards, Leg Guards on the left side, then Spinel Choker, Bracelet, Earrings and Rings on the right. I use the SB+ potions, but don't bother with any of the gear. It's fast enough for me with just the potion, and I'd rather be able to convert every slot (except weapon).

I have a question regarding the materia.

I'm quite confused as to why level II materia's are way more expensive than their level III counterparts. Does anyone have any theories?

For example, crit II's are hovering around $25K to $40K while crit III's are maybe $3k-5K.

Supply. Lots of people SB for profit, and they're using the i49ish stuff, which only gives IIIs and IVs. Is and IIs mostly come from people leveling. Hardly anybody really aims for making IIs.

For crafting and gathering, it's also because of the way overmelding works out. The more you meld onto a single piece (past the guaranteed slots), the lower the chances of success. That chance is also lowered with higher materia (e.g. a III ovemelded is more likely to fail than a II). So when you get down toward the end, ideally, you'd only want to meld exactly the right materia to reach cap. Which means a lot of guides suggest IIs and Is for the final slots, which are the most likely to break. So for DoH and DoL materia, the supply of IIs is lower and the demand is higher.

Not as much a case with battle materia, since a lot of it isn't even going to be melded onto gear anyway.

all those gears u mentioned SB outside dungeons right?? atm im all dungeoned out after farming myth that way XD

when not farmin fates + SBIng been working on my leather worker converting n sbing his gear cause noticed the price for level 2 crafting materia is alot more then higher XD so nice funds for going towards my novus and 3 of my retainers always give me a level 2 materia a day everytime so it helps :3

Never use the sb bonus gear, it provides an extremely low bonus and isn't even remotely worth using. The potion barely makes any difference either. These things have been tested, look it up if you want to see just how bad they are.

Can anyone explain me which way of SB will be optimal for me.
I have i108 brd and i can craft for this class any gear and acessories hq with level less than 50.
Also i have enough materia II and need mostly IV and III.
What should be better for me - replace all gear having det and crit stats to i45-49 hq items and goto to souths shroud with sb potion only or replace 1-2 items only and also use all items with sb stats? Or goto hard roulette dungeons?

from what i gathered from readin other info is full party in south shroud takes mayb 10mins to fully SB gears, not sure how fast dungeon runs sb gear tho

i know exactly what you mean. My novus has been on hold for sometime now as i was shooting for ful crit and det Bard Novus.
Which i am both at IV materia. Crit is around 300-450k at most but det iv has not gone down like ever, it sits around 650k each.
Just wish i knew what items have better chance to be IV materia when converted, who am i kidding it's all RNG. sigh
Also i have been sb in lower level dungeons, it helps alot.

Urth's Gift (or whatever it be called) near Quarrymill. Not sure your server but Leviathan always has Spirit Binding parties up
For Bard i have been using Spinel rings. No IV materia yet but any gear level 49 or so i heard is best

And.. people i have talked to swear by the spirit binding potion which you use while in sb parties. Does it work, does it not that much? D'ont really care every little bit helps.

edit. also wanted to mention that some accesories you can actually wear on your gatherers, so if you decide to go mine or do botany, spirit bind away.

Mostly it's because people are always looking for a payday. As such lots of people are converting level 45+ gear in hopes of tier IV materia, but 90% of the time, give or take, they get tier III materia. As such there is a large supply of tier III (battlecraft) materia simply because people are trying for tier IV. Tier II is easy and predictable, but nobody bothers much with it. If you are actually concerned with the price I'd suggest spiritbinding it yourself. It will be quick and easy. It's more or less an untapped market on many servers.

So going between tiers I, II, and III is pretty straightforward by item level, but then that tier III to IV distinction comes down to RNG? Weird.

I think it's the same for I, II, and III as well. At least close to the edges. The stuff that will give you a I has a small chance of giving you a II, and so on. Hard to find really solid information, though. Most of what I can find (other than info on III/IV and the recent change to make nothing a guaranteed IV anymore) is speculation, outdated 1.x info, or has nothing approaching data/a source/confirmation.
