18 hours for this....

So I got my retainer's gathering up high enough to do the highest tier exploration and she brings me back 3 darksteel ore....Yeah count them, 3. What was she doing for the other 17 hours and 58 minutes?

Seriously this really need to be reworked a little. She should have brought back a stack of them at least lol.

At least they didn't bring back 3 HQ cat skins or meat. 9/10 that's what my retainers bring for me. I'll take dark steel ores over that any day.

Are their items that can only be obtained via Retainer venture ?

Okay well thats completely backwards then. The quick venture should be bringing back the 3 measly ores and the Field exploration for 18 hours should be the one bringing back the rares...

My lazy bastard child likes to bring me home dodo feathers, when I ask him wtf he has been doing for 18 hours he just says, but boss those are HQ and then hides in the corner.

Field explorations are extremely consistent and have a fairly small loot pool. Quick ventures can be ANYTHING, hence the large gamble. If anything, field exploration should just be used for leveling up your retainer or getting the same loot for chump change.

Retainers are retarded, high land exploration is only useful if you are trying to get exclusive minions like the mini mine cart.

On the other hand, you can go through 90 venture coins across 4 retainers using quick exploration to get nothing of value at all, when all you want is a new dye. The dyes need to become sellable or retainers need to take like 20 venture coins, go out for 2 days and come back with some dyes or something.

Exploration = focus on leveling up

my retainers are only doin 35 explorations atm n everytime 3/4 of them bring me back a level 2 gathering materia = nice cash flow for me XD

I've got mine doing field explorations right now basically for the exp. Once his ilvl is up enough, the quick ventures seem to be where all the good stuff is coming from. If you want anything decent, that's what you should try. Around Ilvl 80+ and quick ventures.

The field explorations are nice for quick exp, and for overnight venturing if you make use of the limited drop pools. Beyond that, just use either of the other two venture types.

That's ok. My retainers used to bring back a chub and cream...

I swear my retainers do nothing except B & E, and shoplift. They consistently bring me crappy furniture, or measly food items are normally bought from a vendor.
They probably sit around 95% of the time with a bong and a big bag of weed.

If they're only meant for leveling, why are field exploration XI-XIV only available at max level? And they only bring back things like 2 HQ hippogryph skins.
