I was a huge fan of FF XI.
I am now a huge fan of FF XIV. Things still need work but I love the way the game is going now.
Grand Company's are awesome. Have completed some quests for the Flame and had a lot of fun with the battles.
Auto Attack has paced battles wonderfully (fast isn't necessarily good).
everything seems to have gotten better for me anyways.

I agree! After 1.18 I felt something I hadn't felt in this game before: I didn't want to log out to sleep or work.

I have to say i stooped playing a while ago.
After patch 1.18 im playing again, hopefully new fixes come in before i get bored again.
It is a good start. -
