PLD Novus DEX Stat

I've been looking around the net found nothing pertaining to any kind of talk about adding DEX to PLD's Novus.
DEX increases block and parry rates along with increase in physical ranged damage, so I was thinking it might be useful to put on a PLD.
PLD already block at a decent rate because I see Shield Swipe becoming available for use often, especially when Bulwark is activated.
This also helps mitigate TP Loss in long boss fights.
I know the parry stat sucks but for PLD block is checked before parry right?
Plus, DEX might even be good for initial aggro with Shield Lob.
So what are you guys' opinions on that? I'm on my Animus at the time of this posting. Just thinking ahead before I get to my Novus.
I don't quite like the idea of going ACC/CRIT.
I am currently thinking of going DET/Skill Speed for my Novus atm. Don't know what to do with the 3rd stat as I'm not going to dwell into IV Materias.

I thought you can't add primary stats to Novus...

You can't add DEX and DEX scales so bad you wouldn't want to if you could.

As far as I'm aware, DEX works in tiers much like Strength does. Meaning, you get absolutely zero benefit from it until you break a tier. For STR these tiers are about 50 points a piece, whereupon you'll gain a flat 1% damage reduction from blocking and parrying. For DEX, I hear they're about 30, whereupon you'll gain a flat 1% block and parry rate. Parry is currently believed to scale at 0.075% Parry rate per point, meaning that approximately 13 parry is 1% Parry rate and every point means something.

Please provide whatever proof is necessary to show that DEX scales better than Parry.

Nothing has been shown to work in tiers, it's just rounding the number off.

Even if that is the case, 30 = 1 for DEX is still worse than 13 = 1 for Parry.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying Dex is any good. Parry and Dex are both bad ideas.

So, I forgot what the OP was actually asking, so let's talk of that.

1. DEX will not help with Shield Lob. Despite its identity as a ranged attack, Shield Lob actually scales off of STR. DEX does nothing here.
2. DEX cannot be put on a Novus.
3. Yes, we're pretty sure block is checked before parry.
4. DEX increases block/parry rates at a worse rate than Parry. It's not worth it anyway.
5. The ideal 3rd stat for your Novus is probably Accuracy. The weapon is the safest slot(in terms of loss to DPS/Threat) to put Accuracy, and it's also a great idea to have it on the hardest slot to switch out for something else.

Oh, and the last bit. Parry isn't so completely awful that you should avoid it entirely. Like Accuracy, the best slot to throw some for a little extra mitigation is your weapon, as Weapon Damage makes up for the DPS/Threat you lose by not having other secondaries.

Safe choice : Parry and Acc
Max Threat choice : DET and CRIT
Cheapskate choice : SKS and Acc

Why not just take the safe route with Parry and play around with your jewelry?

^ this is what I did. Went full Parry and then Acc on my Sword and Shield. If I need extra threat, which you don't really have to worry about to begin with, then switch out a VIT acc for STR one. 1 or 2 18 STR acc's will out weigh any crit/det combo you put on the Novus. Not to mention on most servers right now, crit and det materia are super expensive.

Actually, exactly one 18 STR accessory will match 44 crit and 31 det almost exactly. To reference how little that is compared to the majesty that is Weapon Damage, the WD on a Curtana Novus is equivalent to 445 STR.

Acc/det is the safe route

Dex actually scales way worse than parry and tanks should never use this stat. :P
Parry is a really bad stat. In tests I have done, it does not scale at .075%. it scales quite a bit less.
Go MAN MODE. Crit and Det ;)

I'm tempted to re-test DEX now. I remember it being about a 4% increase to Block Rate from the 45 DEX using Gryphonskin.
