So it's been a few weeks of the greatest update ever. I said, I await this response when it was released. So still having fun?
I know for a fact the rank 25 dungeon is now kind of neglected.

I tried once personally and not repeated, i dont think the raids were ever the solution.
I would say it's more Eorzea itself, it's still a baby world and poorly designed for that matter. I would have personally preferred no time spent on these dungeons and more on Eorzea itself as a world, more areas, more logical zones, more adventure, etc, and also more focus on jobs and battle system.
got bored after first night. boring update, but ofc people say stfu wait for 1.19, that will come and it will be stfu wait for 1.20, will continue this cycle forever lol.
Tired of Dyne yet?
I don't.
Blablabla with the patch bashing
That's not the question I asked. Whatever Mister Hopeful. I was you from release til a month or two ago, so I know exactly how you feel. Wish people would just STFU and be patient, right? I will give you a few more months of enduring this abortion, then Sonic_the_Hedgehog will become Dragonmaster Dyne.
Not tired yet of the dungeon. Doing a few runs everyday (1 to 3runs). Still have to beat Batraal. I like the progress we make each run. Still need to get some gears from it. Still enjoying playing in party.
beat the game, time to quit until next patch because 5 minute enter time is needed to make people happy! hurrdurr!
Honestly, i was tired of these dungeons after just the first run, lol. They were never anything too special & pale in comparison to the million other dungeons in the sea of MMOs. They gave us something to do within the FF universe, but barely much.
It might be a nice breathe of fresh air for the die-hard FF11 players who never got the chance to do dungeons much or didn't play many other MMOs.
Not hating on anything, but i know bland when i see it. The bosses look amazing though.
Adding two dungeons to an otherwise mostly "empty" game content-wise is like building a swimming pool in the middle of a desert. Everyone's going to flock to it because... damn... it's *water!*... in the *desert!*.
It's like a juicy steak dinner with an ice cold beer dropped in the middle of a sea of white bread and water.
Before long, the pool is destroyed and the steak is devoured.
Then everyone's back to walking the desert or eating bread.
The problem is, no one or two new things they introduce at this point is going to be enough to keep people engaged for long. Esp. not if they're being cleared within a week.
Given the state of the game, I was really surprised they introduced dungeons that were A) so short and B) repeatable with such a low cool down.
The only way new content like that is going to maintain any kind of longevity is if it's introduced along with a plethora of other new content... Tons of new quests, new storyline missions, new jobs/classes, several new dungeons instead of one or two... And they need to make sure some of the dungeons require more time to complete and aren't cleared in a week.
There's a lot of work going into the game... So, hopefully more content of more variety is part of it.
Is it really so difficult to post positives comments on the forum? I being 36...woops sorry 37 now. Been 36 for so long thought it was permanent lol
I've did Toto a few times now.(lol) I dont spam it cuz then it might get old and I'd have something negative to say. But no not tired of it yet. Since im not 'eligible' for the rank 45 dungeon i cant really speak on it. But I do think that there should be at least a level 30 cap on Toto. With a nice level sync. Its too easy to plow through it.
Oh Geese, you people got your panties in a bunch I see. Well, Claiming theres Nothing that fills the world allow me to Elaborate whats in the update for you:
-Dungeons~ people say there bored of them, when only a few Forum goers are saying they are bored and I always see people there waiting ouside talking and having a blast as a community, its more than the Dungeon and its bringing the community back together slowly, which I'm really enjoying!
- Settlements~ Yes there's no content in these settlements as we speak, I can agree with that so far. However 1.18 is the Groundwork of this game Heck even Grand Companies didn't get much content in them, but they merely put the base structure down to build upon. and the world IS being filled by Settlements and other thing I will go to right now.
- Encampments~ Now this is Continuous Content, Sp parties are great there at low 20's and the mid 30's Content of Sping! and getting sp while destroying a huge behind mob I say us pretty epic to me! And Im sure their will be content that will require to burn through the mobs to reach something within their camp, and when strongholds come out in 1.19 it will be even better!
- Grand Companies~ Yes, these are what Im most anxious for to grow right now is these Conquest type Missions ( like in FFXI) and if you didn't notice the second mission Actually Kill waves of mobs go back to the Grand Company and then he sends you out again ( still haven't completed the mission) That tells me right there that little small taste that Missions will get longer and harder! ( Also the storyline tells that the Seventh Umbral age IS nigh, so be prepared!)
-SP Parties~ Yes I know some of you don't call this content, but in all honesty for the Grind Purpose it is. After 1.18 update everyone is now starting to grind for their SP, Something I wanted in this game since the beginning and I for one am loving it, sincer I reroll my character into a Lalafell, and doing these sp parties finding places for the best spots to grind in, brings me back to the good ol days of FFXI its the one and only thing I wanted out of FFXI to be into FFXIV is that. Now that its in and leves are nerfed each rank will feel like you actually EARNED it, and not this 120k leve fest, I really didnt feel like I earned it, ( which is part of the reason as to why I rerolled post 1.18).
Overall~ I love the direction this is going, and 1.18 gave at least me an idea as to whats to come in future patches and I Find myself logging on more often than I used to too. Saying there isn't content Filling the land or none in General I just believe its flawed logic at this point.
This is solely my opinion and I respect other peoples opinions as well =).
Edit: Also With the Battle system taking the Utmost Priority of course the content will be a little bit on the low side, but even that is pushing it considering, whats been laid out above, yes there maybe little content in them now, but in 1.19 I'm expecting them to fill them with a lot of content since a lot of the bases ( including the battle system) is laid out. I can't wait for 1.19 Chocobos, Airships, Ifrit battle ( which will probably be a GC quest for a high ranked person "hint hint") and most importantly PH will be abolished!
The dungeons were never implemented under the intention they'd keep everyone happy for months to come. Yoshida even said he'd expect at least 6 dungeons to have been in the game at launch in addition to other content to be adequate to keep people interested.
They're planning for the PS3 release and getting it ready for that, I honestly doubt they're that interested in keeping the current players that happy because there's no way they generate content fast enough to outdo the people playing it.
Thems the breaks, there's nothing you can do about it so I don't understand why people insist on having little tantrums constantly.
But then again, vocal minority =/= the whole playerbase anyway.
And yet, you're still here. If it'd 'given up hope' on a game two whole months ago I'd probably have quit following it and done something else because, ultimately, it's just a game. I don't play anymore, but I check the updates and am looking forward to the point where it's fun and playable, which will inevitably come considering the money being pumped into it. I know that stamping my feet and creating numerous threads about my unhappiness with the game is probably not going to do much, so I doubt I'd ever get to that point.
yep loving it.
raids were never meant to be a solution. They even said adding content in the games current state was risky. They added it so we'd have something to do while we wait for the rest of the big fixes to be applied. They tried to throw us a bone and everyone s**t's on it.
How many do we have? 2?
I did the Thousand Maws about two nights ago for the first time and I really enjoyed it.
I don't think they plan on making it the main chunk of the content, but it's much more entertaining than doing Behests over and over. Really though, I was most impressed with the Grand Companies. They seem to be taking the mark of the sort of side quests I've been looking forward to.
Our group has been at the 50 dungeon almost every night since the release.
Yep. Still having a good time!
I can't even find a party to do a dungeon with. It seems even less people play post 1.18 than before, at least on Melmond.
i said it b4 and i'll keep saying it, this game needed something like sky for it's first endgame. something that can be done by full linkshells ...can be done all day and nite if wanted, with rewards that are from the great to epicness, from decent drop rates to crazy droprates. lots of farming >> boss kills and nm's to fight inbetween it all.
4 and 8 man dungeons for pve games is ok but it's not real endgame, it's the big epic stuff that everyone can participate in together that creates a comrodery between players and doesn't create clicks, it's this that would of kept every player that loged in after 1.18 ..did dungeon maybe 1-2 times loged in for good.
this game will never keep a good number of players subscribed if endgame ain't full linkshell material, and small man stuff can be done in pvp games and it will be just as good, but only difference is after you done you can least go kill some peeps with it.
hopefully 8man dungeons is something that is just to keep us happy for now while they do there fixes, but by time ps3 comes along and they expect payment this is what needs to be implemented or else everyone ...problably myself included will log out and not pay a penny. and ps3 numbers will drop to nothing just like the pc players.
also for people talking bout not being able to find people or the other half saying u need a ls, every ls has more then 8people, but most don't have 16 or more that are that active and willing to do runs or log in everyday or for that matter can play for more then few hours to do dungeons. so it is tough for some to get into runs even when you in some of the most active linkshells, theres only gonna be 1 run happening most likely and takes hours to put another one together ...just to have most players needing to be taught or retaught the run every time cause it's never the same people. and people screw up but leave after 1 run instead of getting it down. so ..it can be anoyingly frustating. also the entrance to the dungeons were packed first 2 days not it's empty again so can't put together by pugs very easily.
Hey dudes, I usually labeled as a "troll", "hater" on the forum before 1.18 cuz I always ask for more in this game.
But, a dungeon with tons of drops; good time to spend with your fellows LSers; If you don't like it... go crafting; If you don't like crafting, go fishing; oh Fishing? Boring? flirt with da shemale role playing cat women in town; social activities aren't your cup of tea?.... oh well... I heard FFXIII 2 is coming out.
So what do you expect?
/sh LFM Blitz Ball group 3/6 PST <-- this? hmm... I mean... at least tell SE what you want in da suggestions forum would be more helpful imo.
well, after all those "trolling" "flaming" "finger pointing(not the middle one)" or what so ever. I do agree more works are gonna be needed in this world. But 1.18 seems to be a good big step.
Still loving the raids (A bit on the easy side, only thing that makes it hard are the screwups you always get stuck with :P)... But I don't chain them to oblivion like most people >.< Haven't ONLY been doing them or grinding the gear there :P Anyone who doesn't like em doesn't like the content period or are one of the people who wanted SE to put restrictions on them because they're too stupid or lazy to do it themselves cause they have no self control and feel like they HAVE to do it cause other people do it or there's nothing else out there (These are the people that never MYOB in RL lol) and also wanna hamper other peoples ability to choose when they can/wanna do em^^... just saying Haha
Tl Dr ... It's only been a couple weeks, no one in their right mind should be tired of them xD Unless they didn't like em in the first place or first run :P
who cares why, that just means linkshells only need 8people not 100. small party endgame for a pve game is just half a game. i like the dungeon, infact i been doing it every day, probably 4-8hrs a day most days. games aren't really shortening the numbers in new games comming out, they making them so they can be done with both numbers, pq's and real world battles that any all all players can come into and play without even inviting people you end up in a battle with 5-10-30people in it.
also i never played wow, i played ffxi and there large endgame was done very well and was very fun and kept everyone in the battles busy and entertained. yes salvage and the other 6man stuff was fun, but it ain't no ks, or large party endgames. only real reason to remove this is to create mmo's filled with small dinky little linkshells and clicks where no one even does regular grinding outside of there groups.
Anyone tired of people constantly whining about everything in this game but never quitting?
Indeed, If its not one complaint its another, and when that compliant gets heard they complain about it some more about... Its one thing to complain and it gets heard..but it's totally different when I complaint gets heard... and they are still not satisfied. 1.18 came out with the groundwork of this future's game I guarantee you that this games direction is pretty much set in stone, if you don't like the way its going.. I really don't know what to tell you anymore. All I know is I love the game and i'm actually playing more on the game then on here, shows something....
what ever, OUR game...same ish. and i almost never start a thread i post in it, and what i type in it always has something to do with the thread at hand. if it sounds like the same complaints then stop posting threads that are all basically the same. if you want them to all be happy and joyeous threads on how we love everything then go tickle a rainbow or something.
i think your all deluted, this game will probably get harder and harder not the other way around. they will suck your money and slowly u'll realize that your playing something more hardcore then casual ...and either way it was said to be for both. not just 1. and as u can see the population didn't rise, if anything it probably went back down. and i garentee u that if the endgame was full linkshell endgame, that more then half of the players that came back would have stayed to enjoy the endgame.
tired? not even close :D
Hmm this is barely a dungeon, its more of a BCNM. You can practically pass thru all the mobs and head for the coffers and bosses, that's just bad design IMO. Even if the bosses were hard(which they aren't), running thru a dungeon in less than a hour, would hardly feel like a achievement. Thankfully this have easy fixing, and should serve as lesson to dungeon designing. Its just a matter of look into other MMOs, cause like it not, there are things that you have to emulate in order to be successful. This are a couple of ideas, what IMO should be taken into account for future dungeons/instances. Or even a simple hot fix could the current ones. Please take you time to read all of them before passing judgement, since some are tied to others in order to workout.
- More Bosses - You CANNOT have only 2 bosses per instance and call it a dungeon, that's just madness. 3 IMO should be the minimum. And you should make a final boss per instance, but only reachable after killing the other lesser tier bosses.
- Oriented Goals - Entering with a goal set would really boost the replay value of a dungeon. Not just entering to beat everything that gets in your way or a timer running out. Goals could go from, clearing specific areas of the dungeon in order to progress, getting from point A to B in a specific amount of time, locating X key-item or mob in random or roaming spot around the dungeon, or a mixture of all of them, etc. You can take a quick of what IMO has been one of the best designed instances in-game at its time in Zul'Aman and their famous bear runs.
- Bigger Dungeons / Restriction of Areas / Expanding Time Limit - Answer this... What would be your impression if the first time you enter a dungeon(which took so much time to develop) with cool cut scenes just to pass by all mobs, picking up treasure chests and heading strait to easy bosses... COME ON!!, Dungeons like that could be implemented in a daily basis, just program a huge tunnel, lots of mobs in the way, some treasure chests (which you don't even need to stop in order to open) and at the end of the tunnel a random boss, which will magically disappear all other mobs behind you, so you can fight him... COME ON!!. Make dungeons bigger, while restricting the access further until cleared or another goal has been achieved, and while this would make the instance take longer, it would just be a matter of having time extensions after achieving such goals. Or having dungeons have bigger reset timers, depending on the size of it. All this things can be seen in FFXI Dinamis, i don't understand why it was by pass on FFXIV.
- Difficulty Setting - So not everyone can spend the time to be doing longer or bigger dungeons, nor the skill to do all the things i am suggesting, easy solution to that just incorporate difficulty setting option to the dungeon before entering that would change the objectives and difficulty of it...Normal/Heroic anyone? that simple, some of us want a challenge, and i think doing dungeons with different difficulty modes would expand the life span of them, giving the players more to chew, while allowing you guys to have more time to improve or introduce new content. Of course harder mobs would also mean better rewards or even extra bosses, i dunno, that would be up to you, but they would and SHOULD have a extra incentive to finish.
Well these are kinda like the basic stuff IMO that should be taken into account, while there are other stuff like Tokens for trade in rewards and not just waiting for drops could also do wonders for the replay of the dungeon, is not necessarily a must, but a plus. What do you think?
I like it but wife don't care too much about it... so can't go in again ><
this first dungeon is basically like warhammer blood dungeon, 2 bosses, just little more complex with the chests. but will take next to nothing to beat when u know the routine. but we can't forget we also still missing debuffing players and mobs and all that fun stuff from these still, i'm sure at some point our mages will need to remove and give more debuffs, hopefully dungeons will stop with the running threw the hole thing and get to boss in 5seconds thing, but either way kill them once kill then twice, i just want to get to the boss then anyway so i'm kinda 50/50 on that. but yeah i'd like to see way more bosses but if they copy'ing warhammer at all with this then they will give us a next dungeon that will be little harder and another even longer and harder.
but they did say that larger scale endgame is on the list of things to add (right?!?) so im sure this game will get lot more entertaining. they said they wasn't even ready for this dungeon but put it in to make us happy.
by the way i'm far from bored of it, this dungeon is pretty much the only thing i enjoy doing in the game beside dol maybe. it's very fun, running threw it is kinda exciting, specially with diff people things can get a little screwy lol. and i like killing the bosses ...i love boss fights.
well im sort of tired of them but thats because i did them everyday all day and now have all the gear i need from the dungeons beat batraal like 8 times XD
I'm loving the dungeons very, very much! I run them with my LS every night to get gear, socialize, make some videos and hangout. It's probably the best thing added to this game since its launch.
I love the challenge, the new boss, the music and keep coming back for more gear. I have most of of stuff I'm after but still need a few here and there and need to help my friends get a bit more too, since we have almost everything.
When I'm done I'll probably go grind more of my jobs until 1.19. But I'm never bored of it, I find it very engaging and energetic. Beating Batraal dozens of times is always fun too! :p
In my opinion the two dungeons have a huge design flaw because they are very limited.
Gear is reskinned and exp is OK which will make those two dungeons obsolete with any type of decent content that will be released. There is nothing great about them and there has to be something for them to be used in the future.
Yoshi should've added some truly epic gear that can stand out in those dungeons and maybe some exp quests so that the players would be inclined to do them.
Like I said, if he releases another dungeons with good looking gear at lvl 30 and maybe 50 people will just skip the current two and grind till they get to those. If AF will be at 50 I certainly wont take a step inside the Darkhold, I rather grind.
