Forgive me if I've missed it, but has there been any into on this year's event? :D
There's a witch outfit for glamouring, but I haven't heard anything else.
In the last live letter they showed the rewards, I could not find the picture, but they were traditional witch outfits.
The event is most likely being added with 2.4, though it may be before.
Edit: I found it.

Witch looks too much like BLM i am disappoint :(
Laziest event reward yet, even lazier than recoloring the CUL AF for males on Valentione's.
Ahriman choker included? or just the robes and hat?
yeeeeaah!! Halloween is my favorite holiday!! :D
I like the witch outfits! I main a BLM so it works out for me lol. And besides, I missed out on last year's and love dressing up for halloweeeeeen! :p
As timely as the holiday celebrations seem to be, look forward to this one Nov 15th!
I like the witch outfit, but I wish some more detail had gone in to the robes. Maybe some designs or something in silver or orange on the robe and hat. As it is now it...looks very plain. :(
Ah well, I'm still looking forward to the event! Halloween is my favorite Holiday, and since I'm apparently too old to go around and ask for free candy bits from other adults, I have to settle for game fun. ;w;
Honestly the outfit stuff aside, I would enjoy an actual event, not something that involves me talking to 9 different people across all of Eorzea and delivering the fish to this guy for that other thing to give to person B to get the reward, or fates...
To me that's just not creative, its kind of the standard basic mmo formula....
EQ2 had an amazing one where you have to travel this hedge maze to the center to fight a giant werewolf only to get knocked out and wake up in a haunted mansion where you have to find a way out, eventually you make it to the basement and as you come closer to a mirror you realize its your mirror reflection and you have to fight the "mirror" you that is all evil and stuff...and when you finally leave theres a message saying you feel suddenly very thirsty (implying the vampire thingy from the mansion...) anyway...that's the kind of stuff we should be getting for seasonal events.
I liked the ghost costumes! Although it was mostly because one of my friends at the time kept dressing up in the outfit (before glamours) and going into Primal fights (like when ifrit HM was hard) with it on shouting "SPOOKY FLARE!" (Cause he was BLM) and making ghost noises over skype the entire time we were fighting. Entire group was just rolling laughing.
Wow, this year's is even worse than last year's. :(
I don't think its just laziness on their part. Halloween is relatively new to Japan. Their first Halloween thing was in 2000 when their Disney World set up a Halloween event.
I just don't think they grasp the concept of the holiday. I think they could really benefit from sending someone here to the US, to one of our better Halloween events.
For example Cedar Point has a really creepy Halloween event. If you are going to incorporate another cultures holiday you should do some extensive research first.
Halloween isn't about being cute, unless your 5 and your parents dressed you to be adorable. It should be scary.
The witches costume should have been tattered with claw like hands and an ugly witches face mask with the hat.
So... grab the pure black dyes from 2.4, dye a BLM suit and you're done... don't even have to run the event. Yay... lazy bum event is lazy.
I think they did a pretty decent job with the FFXI Halloween events. They tended more toward kitschy than scary, but they were still fun. Especially since they just kept adding on, so you'd have previous years' events going along with the current ones (instead of just picking previous stuff up from a vendor), which meant there was plenty to do. Trading candy back and forth, spamming emotes to "defeat" an NPC, getting turned into other (monster) character models.
It'd be nice if they'd get the same kind of thing going here. This year's Hatching Tide seemed a bit more like the good old FFXI events, since you had to cooperate with one person. Hopefully they're getting back on their event game a little bit.
Likely, though, we'll just be talking to NPCs for 40 minutes.
Involve Edda in the halloween event and they'll have a success. ;)
I think it's nice. ^^ It's just an added something. I know my FC will be running Haukke in ghost costumes. XD
There is also a new chocobo barding!
oh lol a copy paste of BLM gear. *sigh* another event to not bother with...
Say what who now?? (=O.O=) Pic or it doesn't exist!!
EDIT: HA!! Tis true!! http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Al...ake_%282014%29)
EDIT 2: Aaaaand apparently the clothes are dyeable.. according to gamerscape.. I so hope that's true!
Try this: clicky.
Ah your edit beat me to it lol.
Fixed it! Thanks! I have no idea why it did that! LOL!
I want my "All Classes" Dullahan costume. Maybe another year.
I hope they add this event first then 2.4 as if they add them at the same time my head will blow off with all the crap i have to run around doing :P
I for one am just glad that it is a new event and not just last years brought back, although I hope that is also included for those that didn't get to do it.
I can't speak to the quests and content as there is not really info on it but hopefully it will involve more than just talking to people. I'd even be okay with just themed FATEs that you get drops from to trade in for the gear like the Lightning and Shantoto events, but more would of course be great.
I don't really have a problem too much with the gear, but I personally liked the ghost costumes and pumpkin heads from last year more than what I can see of the witch costume, although choco barding and a pumpkin bat minion is cool.
I would love to see candy that when eaten glamours/transforms you into a random mob like a goblin, imp, etc. You would look like that but if you attacked or were hit the glamour would dispel. Mainly it would just be for fun to run around in town and whatnot and be in "costume".
I would love something like this, maybe like a special instance of Haukke Manor or something. You could even throw in Edda for good measure. Unfortunately it's going to be talking to someone in each of the main cities, maybe with a different hat on, and getting the quest rewards.
I hope I get some trick or treaters in my nieghborhood.
I like that outfit for the BLM class >_> lol something else to store until I learn how/cba to glamor. XD
Nope that's a contest item.

when I think of it, Tam Tara HM should've been released for 2.4 since it has many horror aspects to it + it'll near Halloween.
I know they'd never do it, but I would've loved to see a Doomtrain show up periodically on the still unused train tracks in Central Thanalan for their Halloween event. There could be some sort of creepy quest line about it, and at the end of it, Godbert would show up and somehow suplex it to defeat it. It'd be perfect.
@Tetsaru
Lol, that would be hilarious.
