Furniture: Weapon / Armor stands

I'd love it if we could have weapon and armor stands in our houses to display gear that we fought hard for but don't want to or can't glamour (e.g. the Odin gear). So an armor stand would be a dummy that you can equip with gear (removing it from armory chest) much like you can in a gear set or with a retainer (obviously limited - you wouldn't want to be able to equip soul stones etc). There could be specialised ones like a table-top mannequin head that you can only equip necklaces on... Or a more general glass jewellery display cabinet with a number of slots for jewellery items.

Similarly, weapon mounts could come in different forms - a multi-weapon wall-mount, for instance, holding up to 3 swords/staffs/etc horizontally.

All this would serve a few purposes. Obviously, these would look great in our houses. Also, it would alleviate a lot of the inventory problems people are having with gear that they want to keep but not necessarily wear.

Kewl :D A display dummy to equip armor on, or wall holders to display weapons on. Love it. Wish they'd also add a 2nd basement complete with chains, a little jail, and a table just long enough to stretch a lala out o-..wait whaaa?

A lala torture chamber also has merit lol.

Would be nice to have some way to display armour and weapons within the house. Be like bragging rights when you can display a complete set of primal bows or a full set of a particular armour.

Plus a suit of armour just looks cool as a piece of furniture.

Yep all of that. I think it would makes houses more personal - a map table does say that you ran SV HM a helluva lot. But it's not a single direct achievement in the way that a weapon or armor piece is.

One thought I have on this is that SE would want to prevent this from being a way to circumvent untradeable items (e.g. I put something on a mannequin that is untradeable and someone else in the FC takes it off). Two approaches are a) Make this a personal-house-only item (a new idea, but not impossible I guess), or b) allow only the person who equipped a stand/dummy with a given item to remove it. The second one could get messy - e.g. someone leaves an FC. Just thinking aloud. I still want my armor stands :)

Or simply treat them as glamorable items... in other words, the mannequin doesn't actually wear the gear, just takes on the appearance of whatever gear you "equip".

There has been an idea floating around that you craft that item into a display item. This it would not be reusable then...

Both glamming and permanently converting the item would work I guess, although neither would be my preference. The latter option wouldn't be without its problems. Is this a crafting job? If so, does the resulting item become tradeable? If so there would be a huge variety of such items (whereas a simple stand with some equipability would be a small simple set). Just thinking aloud about how it might work...

To be fair, there are a lot of details that would need careful thought. E.g. how would a weapon wall mount treat a picatrix or dagger vs a sword or staff, do armour dummies come in different sizes (lala - roe, for instance)...

Make it available only in personal rooms and private housing, solves the issue of untradability.

If retainers can wear our armor to go hunting, I don't see how mannequins wearing our armor can't be put in our personal rooms in the same manor. Think like vendor permits.

Yeah I think personal room/house constraint is the best way to go - the weapons and armor are personal achievements in any case, even without the technical considerations.

All they would really have to do (here I go, making this sound like it's something simple to program) is be able to "glamour" our vendors. When you set up the vendor for the first time, instead of only getting a choice of race, you also get a choice of gender and a paper-doll window where you could apply images of the gear you have on hand onto their clothing. Or just have the option to clone one of our retainers as a vendor. The vendor permits are cheap enough at any rate.

They certainly need to make vendors more customisable. I'm not sure they'd double as weapons stands though. They're "actual" people for one, and there's a very tight limit of how many you can have in a house. Also, many people want to place their vendors in a functionally meaningful way (maybe together in an FC "shop" area), and I think most would want to place their dummies in different places from different considerations...

This is exactly what I want to do and why I bought a house. I want to have a little museum for all my healer sets.

I have to say, it's getting to a point where I'm having more unique looking weapons than I can possibly hold in my inventory.
Primal weapons are always going to be useless as long as the game remains on this track of ilvl power creeping. Same goes for any of the allagan gear.
The only weapon that doesn't suffer is the zodiac. It unlocks the next set of upgrade each time a new ilvl is introduced.

But I digress, I like holding onto the unique looking weapons not only because they look pretty, but they remind me of my accomplishments.

I would love to have a katanakake or tachikake for the house! Make it so!
