Gold medal by character names??

I get that the silver medals are for how many posts you have done, but how do you reciece gold medals? :)

I THINK it's due to the number of "likes" you get per post. I might be mistaken though, just a guess

just goes by post count i think.

After a certain amount of silver medals, they turn into 1 gold medal or else your medals section would be 425532 lines long.

Think its a mix of likes and posts, not sure exactly.

It's posts only.

gold medals are OP , i doubt is based around post , because some ppl have 2 with 500 , while others have none with 1000+

I think you might be right, the person who posted above you is only one medal behind but 1/3 the post count. Never gave it much thought before.

Yeah, gold is definitely not based on posts or if it is, it has an odd system. As for me, I never really paid much attention to this type of thing anyways.

Huh, my gold medal came around 100 posts so I thought they were mile markers, but even just looking at the differences in this thread I see my idea completely out the window. Just yet another thing to tack on SE's list of secret stuff (or stashed in a forum corner somewhere.) Kinda reminds me of crafting in XI "Ok now face west, stand on one foot and say the items name backwards for 5% HQ increase." I still wonder to this day how accurate those player made breakdowns were.

The JP player who came up with that theory debunked it when he was perma banned for using 3rd party bot program.

In all honesty, I think it's a mix of post counts, likes you get, and likes you give.

I think the Gold must have something to do with likes. Because Gramul later in this thread has all Gold medals, if my memory serves the man tends to get quite a few likes on his posts.

Or it could be the almost 4500 posts. It may have to do with it all, who knows. Though the gold I got came exactly at 100 posts.

From what it looks like it appears a combo of, posts, threads started, likes given and likes taken. Guy above me has the same medals I do but at almost twice the posts I have.

Somehow I don't remember posting many and yet I got a gold medal

I have 2,200+ posts but only 3 gold medals, probably because people usually hate what I said.

It might be by how many likes, seeing as we have the same amount of gold, but I also have silver too. But your post count is much greater than mine lol

It's post count only. What forum software call ranks usually.

Liking posts and getting your own posts liked has nothing to do with it, that's a total different module/plugin for the forums.

I've noticed mine change sometimes between more gold medals or more silver medals (and back). I just figured it was something wonky with the site's post count... like now, I just went from 1 gold 3 silver to 4 gold 3 silver.

I'm guessing too that it could be the gold counts 50 once you pass that number, then swaps to counting 100 posts after you pass that number, to 500, 1k, etc. But it's not consistent... >.>

Edit: compiled a quick spreadsheet by checking random threads, and recording all the posts counts and their ranking images. This is what I've come up with so far (it's not definite but gets the basic range):

postrank4.gif = 30-49 posts
postrank5.gif = 50-99 posts

As for the kin.gifs not sure, the max it appears you can have of them is 4.
So 4 kin + postrank10 (2 gold medals) = 6 gold medals

Did you read all of my post?

There is a kin.gif prepended to the rank images, which we don't know yet what there it.

Right click on Doki and Wobble's right most medal, open that image into it's own browser window. The rank gifs are based on those post counts, which match what I posted. The kin.gif are prepended but don't follow the post counts. Also you can see they are separate single gold medal images in the source code.

Yeah its not only post counts. Many people have huge differences in their counts with the same, more or less medals.

Both have 1 gold medal and 3 silver medals from post cost and an additional 1 gold medal from "Kin" Ranks which are likely tied to Likes.

I'm going to have to go with Gramul and say it has to do with how attractive you are. While less attractive than Gramul I'm still marginally more attractive compared to the rest of yo---.. I mean it has to do something with likes, posts, and likes given :P

I've also wondered if it has to do with duration on the forums, it could just be correlation (longer time on the forums = more posts and likes) but it happens to be consistent for the "kinship" ranked people I've seen. I imagine there are milestones needed before you can obtain certain ranks, even if you have the post and like count met. Whatever system they set up it is more complex than just post counts, I've seen too many anomalies for that to be true.

Edit: I'd believe the system comes in two parts as some people are suggesting here (each relying on different metrics). Just that the system in total doesn't rely on post counts alone.

Part post count, part likes I bet
