What should I continue from this point?

I just reached level 40 all of my DoH yesterday. So from this point, should I continue level all of them to 50 slowly, or rush one class to 50 each? If so, which one should I go?

And also, I have watched some videos about 3-stars craft (which kinda panic me), and I don't understand much how Byregot's work. What is the condition for it to activate, does it always bring the result over 2000 points of Quality?

I just brought all my classes up together when I did it and it still was a pretty fast process, especially now with Grand Company supply missions and the new Beast Tribes. That being said, Byregot's Blessing is an awesome ability and well worth rushing your CRP to 50. Get CRP to 50 and then do the rest all at once might be a great strategy.

As far as BB goes, it basically works like this...after you have used Inner Quiet (an ability all classes have), with every successful Quality Touch (Basic Touch, Advanced Touch, Hasty Touch, etc.) you receive one "Stack" on Inner Quiet. Not only does each stack give you a bonus in Control (which affects quality)but each one give BB a 20% boost in quality to its 100% base. So, at three stacks (3 successful touches) BB will give a 160% quality boost (100%+20%=20%+20%) 5 stacks will give you 200%, 7 stacks 240%, you get the idea. Mix BB with a Great Strides (doubles the next touch), Innovation (50% Control Buff), along with "Good" and "Excellent" conditions during the craft and the potential of BB is quite impressive.

As you saw, the number of stacks you can get is the key. Remember that. In some cases is is better to try for a bunch of Basic Touches and some Durability recovery than larger Advanced Touches, just to get the stacks up.

Oh I see, so that is how it work.

After CRP, I'd recommend that you focus on GS (for Innovation) and WVR (for Careful Synthesis II). Those two skills will be very helpful for leveling the rest to 50. You're going to want to get all the skills, eventually, as they will all have their uses.

Just make sure to keep your eyes open for profitable opportunities, along your journey. There's little point in rushing to the top, when really the only thing waiting for you is loads of competition.

Innovation (GSM) isn't bad, but it's not as amazing as it sounds. It works off your base Control, not your Control modified by Inner Quiet, so while it's good to use, it isn't crucial. Careful Synthesis II (WVR) is amazing though, and I strongly recommend getting that 1st or 2nd. Even if Byregot's Blessing is better for HQing, Careful Synthesis II makes you no longer have to worry about failing the final synth if you don't have the CP to put up a steady hand and a CSI isn't enough. It also totally replaces both Careful Synthesis and Basic Synthesis, giving you 120% progress with a 100% chance for 0 CP.

(EDIT: Actually, someone below made the point that Byregot's Blessing results in more experience, and you can use CS1 while waiting to get CS2. So, I now agree that CRP is the best to get to 50 first.)

Oh, and one other thing about Byregot's Blessing: it consumes the Inner Quiet stacks, so you want to do it only once per synth, and as the final Touch action you take. It's best to use Great Strides before it, and be sure to have Steady Hand up as Byregot's has only a 90% success rate. This all basically means you need to keep 24+32+22=78 CP on hand for the final touch action, 110 CP if you want to use Ingenuity II as well, and 128 CP if you want to throw Innovation into the mix.

If I was leveling the crafter classes again from 40-50, I would do them in this order (this is subjective of course):
1. CRP (Byregot's Blessing: Crazily good final touch)
2. WVR (Careful Synthesis II: 120% progress, 100% chance, 0 CP)
3-5. BSM (Ingenuity II: Reduces the level of the synth to under your level for five steps, making progress significantly better and also making quality increases better (though Ingenuity has the same effect on Quality as Ingenuity II. The only thing you gain from the II is increased progress))
3-5. ALC (Comfort Zone: +14 CP (or +28 CP in some three-star crafts); exactly as good as 14 extra CP is for you)
3-5. GSM (Innovation: Control bonus equal to 50% of your base Control for three steps; best used to buy time while fishing for a Good/Excellent condition* (see below for sample finishing moves))
6. ARM (Piece by Piece: Progress gain = 33% of remaining progress; saves you 10-20 Durability on endgame non-furniture synths and makes endgame furniture trivial)
7-8. LTW (Waste Not II: Theoretically most efficient CP saving action, but highly limiting; I don't use this at all in endgame crafts)
7-8. CUL (Reclaim: 90% chance to not lose your mats if you fail; Useless (just don't fail!))

* Finishing moves (start at ~128 CP):
1. Steady Hand
2. If Excellent: Byregot's Blessing and skip to 6; otherwise: Great Strides
3. If Excellent or Good: Byregot's Blessing and skip to 6; otherwise: Ingenuity II
4. If Excellent or Good: Byregot's Blessing and skip to 7; otherwise: Innovation
5. Byregot's Blessing and skip to 7
6. Ingenuity II
7. Careful Synthesis II until done

So, as you can see from that snippet, Innovation isn't really THAT important, but it does help. I'd get Ingenuity II first.

This is the order I'd go with:

Carpinter - Byregot's - Use Careful Synthisis 1 for the time being.
Weaver - CS2 - Most used progress skill.
Blacksmith - Ing 2 - Helps a lot of 1/2 star crafts.
Alchimist - CZ - Extra CP
Goldsmith - Inno - Improves quality
Armoursmith - PbP - Only really used for 3 star crafts or 2 star+ furniature, it is a very good skill, but needed only once your on higher tier stuff.
Cullinary - Reclaim - Can be handy, but not really recomended.
Leatherworker - WN2 - Skill with very few uses, you'd really never miss it. ***this would be in 3rd/4th place if you need it for crating your own AF sets! a lot of useful recipes***

Perhaps, but GSM is arguably one of the cheapest and easiest to get to 50 (jewel rocks are plentiful and cheap), plus the extra boost from Innovation does also give an extra boost in exp (which would help with the rest of the crafts). This reasoning is obviously not for a master crafter, but it might be a bit more more useful to someone with more limited resources and options.

Super easy mode: do GC turn-ins for all of them at once. Not only are the cross class abilities helpful, the recipes are often a few levels below your current ones(so it's easier than repeatable leves), + seals to buy ingredients you need for master recipe book I. You can turn it in at any GC quest giver at any aeth camp that has one. Or make your gc city your free telport.

This is a good point, and incidentally, it's a great argument for getting BB before CS2 (I'm editing my post above with that in mind).

GSM is a wonderful class to have, especially if you want to get into Desynthing.

Another question. When you have all 50 cross-class skills, and you only wearing white gears (HQ also) without meld, it is possible to craft class gears or you have to say like bless me when you start the craft? Because my GSM just open his 45-50 crafting log and with CRP already lv 50, I saw craft class gears are all 1 star which kinda scare me. And I don't know which piece of gears I should go first.

Most class gears are made by WVR or LTW. A very small number of pieces are made by ARM (I think just one - BSM boots). Most off-hands are made by BSM, with two being CRP (GSM/WVR) and one being ARM (ALC).

One-stars aren't so bad, imo. I made all my class gears myself and managed to HQ them all. I recall failing to HQ maybe once or twice, but the mats aren't THAT expensive, so just trying again was fine for me. I sold the NQ ones on the MB at cost to recoup their cost. I started with jewelry, as the CP helps immensely when doing the rest, and I could make most of them without even being 50 GSM, but now the best jewelry is expensive and takes Demimateria (10x Fieldcraft Is each), so I'd actually not start with the best.

Instead, I strongly recommend doing this: start with Red Coral Earring (i45), Electrum Wristlets of Crafting (i46), Electrum Rings of Crafting (i47), and Electrum Choker (i49). Do not meld valuable materia into them, but do meld trivially priced crafter materia into them. Stuff that sells for <500gil on your server, if any such exist (they should). Once you've made the endgame jewelry to replace them, if these penultimate pieces are 100% spiritbonded, Convert them. If they aren't, finish Spiritbonding them on your main while doing other things. The items will help you get started, and then become materia that you'll need for your melds.

You might as well do the same with your belt - use the Raptorskin Merchant's Purse (i48 and very cheap to make) with garbage materia in it until you get good enough to make/buy the Dodore Belt, and then break the Raptorskin Merchant's Purse for materia.

Heck, you can do the same as above with the Patrician's set as well if you want. It's the best non-classed crafter gear. Don't use any expensive materia in them as you will be breaking them when you're done with them, but do put garbage materia into them so they Spiritbond faster (and you gain some benefit from the garbage crafter materia while using them). Using Patrician's and second-best Accessories, you should have no trouble crafting the one-star items.

Though we all recommended getting LTW last or near last because the level 50 skill just isn't useful, but unfortunately, a large number of the i55 crafter gears are crafted by LTW, so you might want to get it up a bit high earlier. Also, overall, LTW has made me more profit than every other crafter class combined.


Another note - if you aren't using any food when crafting, consider buying a half stack of NQ Frumenty from a vendor. They cost 7 gil each, so only 350 gil for a half stack. They give you +10 CP (and +3% exp), which is really nice for the price when you don't want to use real food. It's basically a "permanent" +10 CP buff given how cheap the food is, and 10 CP, while not huge, is definitely noticeable, as I'm sure you've started to realize. For reference, HQ Bouillabaisse (the end-game CP food) gives 43 CP.


Also, if you want to make the one-stars less scary, find a cheap one and use Careful Synthesis. Then, use Ingenuity and then Careful Synthesis. Note how much progress each gives, possibly writing it down somewhere (along with your Craftsmanship value). This way, you'll know for sure how much CP/Dur it'll take to finish your craft successfully, so you can be sure to leave enough that you're guaranteed not to fail the synth completely. If you get NQ, you can sell them or use them until you succeed at making an HQ version. Just remember that spiritbonding i55 items is MUCH harder than i45-49 items, since you basically can't do it in open-world content, so don't keep the NQ i55 crafter gears around hoping to break them for materia - the bonding will happen very slowly, if at all, and only from a large number of high level crafts.

It is often recommended that the best route is to go right side and belt first, since with the exception of your off-hand slot, all the jewellery, choker etc are not fixed to a specific class. You can use them for every crafter you get to 50.

Don't discount the Ixali gloves as a filler either. Again useable by every crafter class until you can max meld the class specific ones at a later date.

Just remember that the new i55 items take 10x Fieldcraft Demimateria Is, and I believe require you to get the Demimateria book for GSM first (and the belt requires the Demimateria book for LTW). So, if you want to make these yourself, it might not be the best place to start, hence my suggestion above to use the second-best accessory items instead to start.

Yes - easily - look up the "hasty method" of crafting.

You'll be doing something like this:

CZ - IQ - SH2 - Hasty x5 - SH2 - Hasty x2 - Mend2 - Hasty x2 - SH2 - Hasty - Ing 2 - Basic Touch - GS - Byregot's - CS2 - CS2

It's all about dragging the craft put as long as possible to get as many IQ stacks as possible before your GS - Ing 2 - Byregot's Finisher.

Use Tricks of the Trade on Every "Good" and re-apply SH as needed, the above is just a rough idea, as the hasty method is situational.

Re-apply CZ if you think your craft will last another 10+ steps.

Can add Inno before Byregot's if you have spare CP.

Un-melded HQ craft specific gloves give CP +3 and Control 31.

Fully melded class specific HQ gloves give CP+3, Control +36 and Craftmanship +4.

The Ehcatl gloves give Control +39 and Craftmanship +4 and can be used by any craft class. They cannot be melded.

The debate is whether the loss of +3 CP for a gain of +3 Control for high level stuff is worth it. Personally I'm using the class specific on my LTW ( my only fully melded crafter ) and the Ehcatl on my other classes until I have the time/Gil/desire to make the fully melded gloves for them.

Ingenuity lowers a recipe to your level. There is a penalty for doing recipes above your level both for Progress and for Quality. Ingenuity II lowers a recipe to below your level. There is a bonus to Progress for doing recipes below your level, but there is not a bonus to Quality for doing recipes below your level. So, generally speaking: Ingenuity helps both Progress and Quality. Ingenuity II helps more on Progress than Ingenuity, but helps the same as Ingenuity for Quality.

I believe, if I'm remembering right, that with a few Inner Quiet stacks, Ingenuity helps Quality more than Innovation does (but also costs more CP), since Ingenuity stacks multiplicatively with the IQ bonus (meaning, more IQ = more bonus) and Innovation stacks additively (flat bonus regardless of IQ stacks).


EDIT: And yes, I strongly recommend using the Ehcatl Smithing Gloves (the ones that cost 10 oaknots and require rank 7) to save money at first. If you want to get seriously into three star crafting, after fully melding everything else, then it's likely worth it to get class-specific gloves and fully meld them. While the three CP is better than the three Control, it's not enough of a bonus to justify buying the i55 items and melding them when you're first getting started. And, in the process of getting the gloves, you'll get TONS of crafter exp!

This is no longer completely true.

It does still hold true for 1/2 star crafts, but Ing / Ing II have a much lesser effect on 3 star and above.

E.g. Ing II does not lower a 3 star recipe below your current level and Ing II gives a higher quality gain than Ing I for 3 star+ crafts.

Yeah, as far as I know.

I believe 2 star items and below react just as they did before the Ingenuity nerf. (My old macro's seem to function exactly the same anyway!)
