Should ceratin gear have buffs...

And I'm taking status, not stats.

I'm was thinking about the idea of weighted clothing used for showing off by lowering stats unless you're in an instanced boss fight where you can take it off for a status boost. But thne I thought about other possibilies such as proccing skills more often, increasing duration og certain skills and even lowering MP costs. But to make in a little interesting some of these are only used while wearng a full gearset (High Allagin of Striking for example) While some have effects that don;t need other gear to activate.

What do you guys think of this idea?

There used to be stuff like this in 1.xx to my understanding, stuff like Flare potency boosts or an increase in Freecure proc rate. At present though it's not being implemented, it's kinda hard to balance horizontal progression stuff like that in a primarily vertical progression gear game like this one. Theorycrafters eat up stuff like that and Yoshida wants to avoid the kinda shenanigans that go on in XI, so if we get stuff like that, it'll probably have to wait until expansion and things can start expanding out a bit from accessibility being the primary directive.

Plz no. All that will do is make one weapon out of all other choices the best and others mute. It would make things unique but lets be honest it will just make everything that doesn't have a good buff suck.

If anything, AF gear should have specific buffs to them. (and upcoming AF2)

But seeing as XIV has done away with battle intricacies such as the Elemental Wheel. I don't see them adding anything to armor beyond basic stats.

Maybe, just maybe, one day they will add new variants to combat other than dodging glowing spaces on the ground.

I dont see how our AF armor cant have some extra effects to em.

Maybe it will be easier if SE add those status buffs as traits, and limit us to a certain of active traits. At least with this we will have a bit of customization regarding the game play. Even tho I believe SE won't do either.

I'd like a bit (lot) more variety in gear. A lot of people seem to scream about how it would turn everyone into rabid savages that refuse to play with each other. That certainly could happen if implemented poorly -- essentially in a fashion specifically favoring this outcome. Something like deciding Odin/Behemoth should drop the best weapon in the game, but only have a 5% drop rate. I don't imagine gear acquisition would be changed and since all I ever see are people wearing bits and pieces of the best, say 4 sets in the game, I don't think people would have any particular trouble gathering gear if it were more diverse than it is now.

Mostly what would happen is the stats on the gear you have would be more varied. Some players would go for specific pieces of gear and collect their entire BiS set, while others would piece together something slightly less effective, but still worthwhile. Essentially the same as now, but you could potentially feel better about adding "Jump damage +5%" than "Skillspeed + 44" (not that I'm suggesting removing the current secondary stats).

Exactly what I was thinking. Where are these so-called "choices" now? Each class has exactly two ilvl 115 weapons. TWO. Not exactly a cornucopia of variety there...

I want to see gear with more to it than just a reshuffle of the secondary stats. How about ARC gloves that halve the recast of Blunt Arrow with the tradeoff that stats are lowered? Pointless a lot of the time, but for fights where you need a lot of Silence? Golden. Things like that would really spice up the gear options we have available.

I think they'd end up either completely useless or absolutely essential, and neither is an exciting option :/

I'm still waiting for this to be implemented.

As much as I'd love for gear set buffs or things like refresh+, regen+, pdt/mdt etc, I think this also falls under the same category as pet jobs :/ "It's be stressful for players", which you know, it isn't, but SE seems to think we're all monkeys beating a keyboard lol

It'd give a lot more options rather than just going for the highest ilvl and such :/

Adding utility to gear would be awesome. so much potential with materia as well.
