Should player board have a refund option?

Just recently a fc mate and myself brought up this idea and I think it would be pretty great. I mean we pay a virtual tax on items and yet everyone I've spoken with has no idea why. So why not a refund option? There have been plenty of times where I have bought things thinking I'm going to craft or I need for my character, only to have a fc mate provide something of hq mere minutes later when they login. There have been a few times I've heard people complaining that they got sidetracked while looking for a deal and accidentally purchased something they thought they needed. I think maybe within the first 15 or so minutes of buying a item you should be able to refund it. Just a little thought we had.

You bought items from marketboard - ran by retainers.
Retainers are the biggest thieves in Eorzea, you'll never see your gil again.

How exactly would this refund work? Would the crafter not be able to retrieve their gil until 15 minutes after it has been purchased? Seems silly to me, and this would be exploited by people who want to exploit the market on items that sell very quickly. I have an idea! How about you take an extra 15 minutes before you buy something and be sure you want to spend your gil on it, or be more careful in selecting which item you want to purchase.

Or your FC house roof, statuary, the belt you were wearing, and the kelp from the beach down the way for that matter.

Good luck getting your gil back from my retainer. She be called Covets, and she does just that. Plus she needs all these forms in triplicate....

I don't think this would work, good idea though, but imagine how annoying that would be, "your wind shards have sold for ..... (After fees)" "your wind shards were unwanted and have been returned to your sack of crap retainer who offered the refund, no Gil for you!!!" :')

The proper way to have refund is RESELL ...^^;

I often take my money from my retainers straight away. A refund wouldn't work because my retainers don't keep the gil they are holding for long.

If you buy something you don't need, then sell it. If you want to recover your tax costs, then sell it for the appropriate amount. It's not fair for me to lose out money just because you made a wrong purchase (or didn't need the item in the end). Also, I may have spent that money elsewhere, and then there's really no way to get it back.

The Tax Like FFXI is to take gil out of the game.

With this system in place I could buy up all the cheaper items for sale leaving only my expensive item on sale which sells at its over inflated price and then I return all the cheaper items I bought for a full refund.

I have done the same thing, I just resell and take the small hit.

Speak to more people who understand virtual economies. Gil sinks are necessary to keep inflation in check.

PROTIP: Slow the heck down. You only pay tax if you're buying from a different city, so if the tax is more than a teleport or airship, go to where the cheapest item is selling before you buy it.

And yeah, the 15 minute thing would be way too exploitable.

Right. The only time money stays on my retainers is if I'm busy or afk. Otherwise it gets retrieved asap.

I know they're out there plundering people's homes, so I don't trust them. :3

No its not a good idea and this will never happen. You can sell the items back if you changed your mind.
