i90-i95 recipe difficulty not commensurate to the item produced

That is to say, the i90 and i95 gear that can be crafted is in no way commensurate to the difficulty level of the recipe. They'll be even less worth it once new gear comes out in 2.4 and i90-i95 stuff becomes relatively outdated. It doesn't even really have to be said at this point that those crafts are purely for glamour purposes and serve no realistic purpose in combat. Can these recipes please get a nerf to the materials required at the very least? As much as I like the Inferno Battleaxe, I don't "6 million gil" like it. Frankly, I don't think any of the weapons are worth the several million in materials they take to make.

Synth difficulty: If the crafts are for glamour purposes, then whether or not you can HQ them easily is completely irrelevant.

Material-gathering difficulty: They are considerably difficult to make as far as ingredients go, but some things should be, right? That said, it's rather amusing that you're only just now posting about this though, because the cost to make these items has absolutely tanked since the last patch because of the sheer quantity of people running primals for Nexus lights. You're on the same server as me so I can tell you, the cost to make an Inferno Battleaxe is... (39k for 3x inferno demis, ~850k for inferno horn, ~900k for 10x Battle3 demis, ~45k for 3x Wolfram ingots) roughly 2 million gil. If you "2 million gil" like it, then I can even craft it for you.

I probably should've worded it better but when I say "difficulty" I meant the act of getting everything together and then crafting it. The amount of materials you need just seems astronomical considering how out of date the weapons are. A couple months ago, back when they were released, I kinda understood why they were so expensive to make. UATs weren't common at release and neither were the sands to unweather them and had the distinct benefit of materia slots so you could meld it ideally, making them competitive alternatives to other weapons. But now, with the higher level weapons being so common, and the level cap increasing in 2.4, they don't seem much worth it at this point. I feel like, with them inevitably degrading into glamour gear, it doesn't seem like they should be so expensive to make. I get that mostly all 3 star stuff has been behind the curve as far as gear goes, when factoring in stats and attainability, but that gap's gotten much wider in the last couple of patches.

I dont actually think these are too hard to make or to gather the materials to make in general, as long as you are a crafter with desynth in the relative skills. The fact that most of the mats for the primal weapons can be farmed makes them profitable if you farm the mats yourself. As Raldo siad, if used for glamour (which most are), then HQ means nothing at all, thus making them exceptionally easy to make (have made 2 myself so far). Only issue i have is the quantity of Battlecraft 3 Demimateria needed in the recipe - 10 is a little on the steep side. Also these things are meant to be very very rare, judging by the mats needed to craft them, i imagine these are not something the dev's intented anyone and everyone to be able to get quickly.

Edit: also to address the i90 crafting gear concerns you have, please note these are towards the end of their life cycle, so the recipes reflect the value of when they were introduced, to help people in the initial stages of the second binding coil of bahamut. I would expect 2.4 to bring more crafting armour recipes to likewise help with the third coil

Many pieces of 90 crafted armor pieces with 4-5 melds are comparable/situationally better than 110 pieces. The primal weapons are glamour only.

The 90 gear also spiritbonds quickly on end game content, and has a high TIV materia conversion rate.

I had no concerns over the gear in actual gameplay. My point isn't "Can it be made useful again?", it's "This is really only good for glamour and will be more so in 2.4, can it get a nerf to the items required since they're not really worth the cost?"

Ok, then its quite difficult to deduce what you are getting at then. You have lumped i90 and i95 in the same catagory, one which is used for practical purposes (i90), the other for glamour (i95). I90 still server alot of funtionality within the game, StouterTaru even pointed this out above. The i95 are there mainly for glamour purposes and in some case very niche uses. These items are not needed for game progression, and are there for glamour. Glamour items sell for a huge amount, and these specific ones with time and effort, can be made at an insignificant cost compared to relative sale price. On my server, these sell for 5-10 million each depending on the weapon, and can cost from 500k-2mil each to make depending on how many of the mats you want to buy yourself. Saying that they are not worth the cost is not that accurate. To reiterate, they sell for however much people want to pay for them for glamour, and cost relatively little to make, only costing a lot if you dont want to farm the mats for yourself. I doubt they will get a nerf.

they could've made them ilvl 1 as the other glamour gears, but that would have forced ppl to cry even more


they are fine as they are. If you want tons of cheap battle III materia then desynth giantsgall weapons, which cost about 10k in mats
since everyone is farming the primals its even really cheap to grind your Alc desynth skill

I'm fine with the ingredients as is. I don't think anyone is saying these are not glamour items. While everyone runs around with the Burtgangs and Conquerors and Books of Spades that have just been handed out like candy, players with gil can glamour these cookie-cutter items into something that other players don't have.

I made one for myself a while ago (Garuda Axe). I really wanted to make a moogle mogblade, but the cost was too high. And I'm ok with that.

I don't like that we seem to be a pretty much "crafters support crafters" economy with little or no affect on the non-crafter, non-gatherer population.

I'm pretty depressed, I worked all the current crafts to 50 and now I'm looking at spending gil it will take me months to earn, to meld out to be able to get just one of my jobs even 2-star capable. And now, we need to burn gil, time, or equipment - or all three - fussing around with demimateria... it's enough to make you commit in-game ritual suicide.

i90 Armour and Accessories are very cheap to make these days, when they first came out they were prime items and the mats were new, now that i90 is used less the prices of the mats have dropped considerably.

i90 Armour and Accessories are very easy to HQ these days, even when starting with all NQ mats, the new (2.3) accessories help a lot.

i95 weapons have not been out all that long, with fairly cheap melds they are on par with the i100 weapons (Only if HQ), so a very good upgrade for many peoples alt classes.

Many people will want the i95's just for glamour and they are easy to NQ.

i95's (elemental ones) are however difficult to HQ, but I believe they should be.

They are very costly to make currently, but if all of the people complaining they "have no gil" actually farmed those "overpriced" crafting mats and sold them, they would soon a lot of gil and lower the overall price on the "overpriced" mats, making the weapons cost far less to make.

The fact is the mats are easy to farm, but most can't be bothered.


I hope they add much more difficult crafts in the future!



Edit: It's much like people who don't spiritbond, complaining how expencive IV materia are.

I've personally crafted 5 vortex bows (4 out 5 HQ), moogle mogfists, mogblade, mogtome (SCH), Tremor Cane, and Vortex spear. I farmed most of them and had a good time doing it. Finally things in game to craft that aren't open for everyone to do. Only the truly dedicated and motivated crafters are able to farm the mats and desynth for what is needed.

That's a pretty closeminded way of looking at it in a game where pretty much the entire premise is "Anybody can do everything".

Jeweleries 3 stars suck.
They should be ilvl 100, whould give 16 in main stats and I whould considering doing 1 or 2 if the dropable jeweleries of my class are not with the stats i'm looking for.
And no, not all 3 stars items are for Glamour, this arguement is invalid.

For most of the rest of the crafting items, i'm kinda ok with how it is now (instead the jeweleries 3 stars), I'm just sad that the desynthesis is limited to 3 classes only (3 lvl max), in this game, where you can do every classes on 1 character, I dont understand now why they put this limit, it make no sens, it's opposite of what they did before, at least, it's not really important, but still, I dont get it.

And as i pointed out you are lumping 2 catagories of items into 1. I90 have a lot of uses, but you claim they dont. The mats are not expensive for the return. On my server, if you buy the mats of the MB, you will spend less than 50% of the final sale price on mat. These mats can be obtained through other means, drastically reducing the initial monatary outlay for the craft.

The I95 weapons are I95, making them good enough for secondary/tertiary classes, as well as for glamour. The vast majority of mats from these can be farmed at little cost. Also, there is absolutely nothing that has been said from the devs that they intended these weapons to be accessed by all player with very little effort involved.

I70 crafted gear has never been nerfed since 2.0 (with the acception of the rebalance of vanya trousers to make them reflect the philosophy mat usage in the other crafts). I90 will most likely never be nerfed, neither will the primal weapons. It sounds more like you dont want to put the effort into crafting, rather than having a legitamate concern/complaint now.

Gotta say, it would be a bit annoying if they nerfed the recipes for these now... the market for them would drop fast, and I have a few left unsold at the moment!

I do think that the ilvl of these weapons could do with a bit of a boost though. ilvl 110 would be nice ;).

Seriously though, it would be great if you could one day craft weapons that are near to the top ilvl at the time. I think it was mentioned by the devs that if they made crafted gear too good, it could encourage 'gil buying'. But if that's the problem, they could always make such weapons untradeable, so you craft them for your own use only. It could be a sort of relic quest for crafters!

Gil Buyers are already buying T6-T9/Rumah Ex Farms for their gear, so I don't see why we should not be able to craft and sell near top tier weapons.

Raising the ilvl of the crafted i95 weapons to i100 would be ideal in my opinion.

Only if they made them tradable once they dropped from being BiS, please?

As a crafter, I make most of my money in the low and mid-level markets. The major use of the top-level stuff for me is being able to help boost hyper-casual friends who are allergic to grinding.
