Ninja Cross Classes - Who gets them? Who do they get?

While I've little doubt I'll level the class to 50, it's unlikely I'll main it. However it will be interesting to see what cross class abilities it brings to other jobs and which jobs it'll benefit from.

If I had to pick, borrow from Monk and Archer, and give to Monk and Warrior.

I'd like for it to have Parry/Eva type move that's more functional current options for warrior... like... A Shadows sorta move that promises to parry the next 3 moves, or something like that. Not game breaking, but would be true to the FFXI Ninja.

Then perhaps a move that Paralyzes enemy thats off global cooldown that does a flat damage that's only impressive due that to the fact that it doesn't interfered with combos.

Anyhoo, that'd be my wish.

Don't see why Ninja would have a parry based ability. Evasion perhaps, but parry would be a wasted stat for ninja to have an ability based on.

Well Monk has Eva, Dragoon has Parry and Bard has Enmity Reduction... it will have something defensive.

I'ma guess Ninja will get Archer and Lancer as cross classes, especially if they don't have any native abilities to boost their dmg dealt.

Considering all we know about rogue is that it's a DD class and that it 'throws knives' in an area like Blizzard II, jumps around and Ninja has combination actions... it's hard to tell what it will have. Oh, and Stealth which isn't going to be cross-class. I'd warrant a guess that Ninja will have lancer as a cross-class for Invigorate given that pretty much every melee DD has lancer for Invigorate.

The only problem I see with Lancer being a cross-class skill is Invigorate in and of itself. If the developmental trait set for Rogue is to be believed from patch 2.28, they will gain an innate trait to regenerate TP faster than normal at level 36. Of course we don't know how Ninja will work and they might benefit from having Invigorate due to much higher TP usage, but it still begs the question.

They're melee DPS, so they'll almost definitely get Blood for Blood. Maybe they'll get lucky and get Raging Strikes instead.

On a more selfish note, I hope WAR gets something from them. It's doubtful, but one can dream.

I doubt rogue will give anything to Warrior given Warrior already has it's cross-class classes. Adding more would mean every Job would need to get another cross-class class and there's been no mention of anything like that happening.

Some of their skills may not even be TP based, could be MP based since some of what they do could be considered magical.

So.. it'll just wait for the new classes to borrow from it? They may choose to revamp other cross classes... which could be interesting. I'd not mind a shake up.

I can see that with Ninja, but I don't think rogue will be as mystical. Take archer and Bard. Only Bard's quested abilities use MP, all of archer's abilities use TP.

the best guess is pugilist/archer, but we will not know until the last minute...

i just recheck the video from the anniversary live (cf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?annota...&v=ppn5aGLfxSk) the sign don't have a cost, nor the the rest of the ninjutsu, we can guess they are based on a cd mostly.

then out the idea to put some magic class into it.

From the looks of it the classes it makes sense to Cross are PGL and THM. From a balance point of view, I have no idea how will THM possibly help them.

Also, we might see some classes getting the drop in favor of Rouge. MNK BLM and even SMN might see a change on their cross-classes. MNK would probably drop MRD, BLM might drop ARC, and SMN might drop ARC. A poison-user is more compatible with both BLM and SMN over archer imo. MNK is obvious since Rouge is pretty swift, and PGL already gives a very strong "Street fighter" vibe.

i don't see what the use the THM skill will have with the ROG.

i dunno if as monk i want to loose the execute we get from the mrd, but if the cross skill are good why not.

Umm... that video has to be taken with a shaker of salt because it's from a Dev-Mode build as evidenced by how the dullahan never dies (and the world is a grey checkerboard), and we have no clear view of it's HP, MP or TP. For all we know it could have had infinite MP running.

Pugilist and Archer.

Feather Foot, Second Wind, Mantra, Internal Release, Haymaker, Raging Strikes, Hawk's Eye, Quelling Strikes.

If you look at the video you can see that the rogue's innate tp costs are extremely low (between 40-60 ish tp), its pretty save to say that they are trying to avoid the need for invigorate. So lancer in my eyes is very unlikely. I think one of them is likely going to be archer because currently, straight shot and venomous bite are two cross class skills that can not be used by any job, reason being that only DoM jobs have access to archer and those two skills are for DoW. So there is a need for a new job to pick those up.

Now which jobs might gain access to Rog, i could see both melees getting acces to it and losing Mrd instead, just because its a tank and was probably only given to them because there werent enough melee jobs in the first place.

need to take into consideration that they cant give to much attack buffs.
archer would give straight shot, and raging strikes, pgl would give internal release, lnc would give b4b.
archer used to have pgl and and lnc...and it was to OP, so they changed cross-class.
so i dont think rog would get a combination of 2 of these. But depends on what skills rog get...if they dont get any damage buffs, then it would work. but from what i saw of those leaked passives, it seems at least some poisons, are damage buffs rather than dots.

I think it will be Arc level 15 and cross class pug. could be the other way but i think those two are it.

All 3 TP using DPS have invigorate but I thought it was hinted that rogue will have its own TP regenerating skills so I think lancer cross class will be less likely.

However, all 3 have second wind as a survival skill. All 3 also have inner release so I think pugilist cross class is highly likely.

Lastly all 3 also has blood for blood as cross class damage increasing self buff but if lancer is not it, then archer's raging strikes could be the alternative. So I'm banking on pgl and arc.

Well Rogue could have it rather than Ninja. I specify Rogue over Ninja for one very important reason, future tank jobs. Look at Warrior for example, it takes from pugilist, a DPS class that has defensive abilities. So perhaps Rogue could cross class into a future tank class, perhaps. Since there seems to have been a demand for Samurai, perhaps it could cross class from Rogue or even Lancer and be a parry tank.

Ninja should get PLG and THM as cross-class

MNK will lose MRD for ROG, and BRD will lose either PGL or LNC (not sure which yet)

I doubt they change the cross-classes of already existing jobs.
1.23 -> 2.0 was an exception, because they reworked every class skills.

Why Thaumaturge? The only skills that would offer are really Sure and Swiftcast.

If Ninjitsu was like XI OK, that might be helpful, but they're using Mudra and abilities here, so they're both worthless skills for Ninja.

THM make no sense since it's not magic, but secret art from ninjutsu, it can be some sort of stuff link to the chakra (monk use the same, but don't use mana)

Still seems odd. Seems like they would draw from a different class honestly.

I'm holding out hope that ROG will have a Stealth ability which is cross-classable to ALL DoM and DoW classes and jobs. This stealth ability would not cripple movement speed as the DoL stealth abilities do, but it would only be active for a short period of time, say thirty seconds, before it needs to be reapplied.

With something like this, SE could finally start introducing genuinely dangerous overworld zones into the game, places where if a mob aggros you there's a very high risk that you'll be killed. Such an area would normally be frustrating if you had to deal with it solo - but if you could hide from the enemies, it would be another story.

will not happend, Yoshida have said that Rogue/ninja will be the only one with it for now. (for the combat/magic class)

I think it will be PGL and ARC, as others have said, but these are the abilities I would like to see from them.

Straight Shot, Venomous Bite, Raging Strikes, Hawk's Eye, Quelling Strikes from ARC.

Featherfoot, Second Wind, Haymaker, Internal Release, Mantra from PGL.

I'm personally wondering more if any existing jobs will get access to rogue abilities, and if so what'll happen to their existing set of cross-class abilities.

I think a shuffle would be in order. Like others have said, maybe Warrior crossclasses will be lost for Monk/Drg and replaced with Ninja ones. Though if your gonna revamp, I'd like Keen Flurry for my War instead of featherfoot :P.

Not as a base class. But jobs don't take skills from other jobs. So samurai could have a new base class, should it be implemented, and take from rogue as a secondary class meaning it may, or may not, have some tanking or defensive skills. Either way, if it isn't planed to branch into a future tanking job, having a defensive skill/ability on there gives them the opportunity to do so.

We cant keep getting a shuffle each time a new class is added. Expansion is around the corner.. Will there be another shuffle then as well? When more classes are added and the level cap is increased. more cross skills will become available to each job.

Its quiet possible that existing jobs now will get a 3 class(rogue) added to their list of cross skills as it has to happen. And that's kind of the point to the armory/battle system.

By the time we hit lvl99, all classes might end up having 10 cross classes to pick from.. I would like to think that this is the end goal. And it will be a nice one. As the customization will be through the roof.
