Just like the title says, has anyone seen or made their own list of things to collect now so they're ready for NIN? Was hoping to see if someone has shared their own checklist of items before I make my own.

I'm hanging onto my salvaged Atherial DoW gear and DEX Accessories
I figure they'll probably be able to use my mnk/drg or brd accessories so no worries there. I'm also guessing they'll either use the standard DoW equip while leveling or have their own recipes made with the ingredients we already have. Stock up on crafting stuff if you have crafters. Leathers, cloths, metals, etc. I can't see them putting an entire new set of ingredients into the game. Then again, I could be completely off. :3
Not really since I'm not too big on Rogue/Ninja.
I'm more into Guns, Gunblades, or Darkness Magic.
Besides since Rogue been confirmed to require at least one level 10 class to unlock I've gotten everything done to prepare for Rogue/Ninja.
There won't be any special condition required to Unlock Ninja except for the basic lvl 15 secondary class so i got that covered just fine since I maxed all my DoW and DoM classes.
If you're going to go the distance then...
1) Have some low level quests ready for completion
2) 100 Leve allowances. (you can open up to 16 Leves as well outside of your allowance).
3) Various STR & DEX Accessories for level 1-50.
4) Various STR & DEX Accessories for level i90+
5) Rads-at-Han Quenching Oil for Relic upgrade.
6) 3/3 Thavnairian Mists for Relic+1 upgrade.
7) 12/12 Atma for Atma Weapon upgrade.
8) 3/3 Enchanted Ink for Novus Scroll.
9) 75/75 Alexandrite for Novus Weapon upgrade.
10) 20,000 Wolf Marks & Rank 38 in PvP (for glamour).
11) 2,000/2,000 Myth for Atma Books.
12) 2,000/2,000 Solds for Weathered gear.
13) 100~200 Allied Seals for i90 AF.
14) 7/7 Sands of Time for i110 upgrades.
15) 4/4 Oils of Time for i110 upgrades.
16) UAT and Tokens for i110 weapon.
Pick and choose what is most important to you from this list. You'll obviously want to level into i90~i110 gear so you can immediately jump into endgame with your friends. Keep in mind there's a new tomestone coming and a lot of this will be invalidated about 2-3 weeks into patch 2.4.
You can do some other off the wall stuff like invite a friend (or open a new account) for the EXP bonus hat, idle in a sanctuary to accrue bonus exp, and more. Recruit (or hire) a friend to level tank and/or healer so queues come in quick. Have smithing leveled with a couple of mats so you can make your own knives/katanas.
nope i will lvl it like all my other alts it will be naked other then what i get in dungeons not like you need real gear to beat any of the low lvl dungeons
That's the one thing I'm not sure about,I've seen them say it'll use STR accessories butwhat about the current endgame gear (i80-i110)? Will they get their own sets for coil, ST, and CT or just be tacked onto MNK? If anyone has seen this could you please link your source as well?
I can't speak on it either way. There hasn't been any conclusive evidence it will be STR or DEX, so essentially people have been smart and collected both over the last couple of months. If you haven't started by now, I wouldn't bother past i90 accessories.
People like using Fuma gear as an example, but nothing is stopping SE from creating similar looking gear, tossing DEX on it, calling it something else, and giving it to Ninja. We've seen this happen very recently with Guardian Gear from Syrus Tower for DRGs and MNKs (two sets of similar looking gear, but different stats).
I compiled a list of 30+ quests that I had yet to do, since the only battle class I had to level from 2.0 was arcanist. People have said that they'll likely add more quests specifically for people to level rogue off of when it's released, but it's nice to have this just in case.
As far as gear goes, I'll just wait to see what I need and craft it at that point.
Because :
1. There is only 1 set by type of class : Tank, Heavy Melee(DRG), Melee(MNK), Ranged (BRD), Mage and healer, putting another set of Dex would make it have 2 Dex gears while there could only be one.
2. Dex is for ranged attacks.
3. Yoshi already stated that NIN will be melee and therefor we can guess what gear it will wear.
Surprised nobody has mentioned saving up tokens, either Rowena or the first set of EX primals
I remember reading it awhile ago in a Famitsu interview but I either misread it or it was mistranslated at the time. The only thing I can find is him saying he wants to keep people guessing. I'll edit my post.

I keep telling myself I need to prepare for Ninja. I will probably cap Soldiery tomes, UAT & some oils/sands. Other than that, I think I'd prefer to earn my gear whilst playing Ninja.
I don't want to "complete" it as soon as I hit 50. I know there will be more content and a higher iLvl once the patch hits but I just want to enjoy the journey.
How about saving up gil. I'd imagine crafters will sell relic starter weapons at a very high price due to demand
Yea and I imagine at least getting the materia for it now would help, might be Savage Arm III (MNK, DRG) or Heaven's Eye III (BRD) if they follow the same route for the relic.
1) Read the "People like using Fuma gear as an example..." again.
2) Means absolutely nothing. It's just a text box that states that DEX affects Ranged Attack damage. You, nor I, nor anyone else here knows if Ninja's attack system will follow a new damage calculation/formula, one that's effected by DEX (or STR, or INT, or whatever they want). If it does, you can bet your buttons they'll change the tool tip to reflect this.
3) Lets clarify this here:

That's just them being vague so they don't admit it, Fuma and stat logic goes for STR, what goes for DEX ? Nothing...
I think they may go DEX route only because BRD is the only class that doesn't share gear with someone else. If it is STR you would have three classes rolling on that str acc on third coil while brd is still alone.
Plus is not like dexterity doesn't make sense for a ninja.
My friend has already farmed all of the Atma he will need to for the Ninja relic. I'm pretty sure that he's done the same for the Novus part of the relic quest chain. The rest, he is waiting until the classes is released and he'll know what end-game gear he'll need. But since he already has all of the classes at 50, chances are, he is set on the accessories.
You're still missing the point. They can change a damage calculation in the system so that it's bound to DEX or whatever non-STR stat they want, forcing you to have to gear for that non-STR stat. And nothing is still stopping them from creating a Fuma Lookalike armor and putting whatever non-STR stat on it instead for Ninja.
You need to think abstractly and stop looking at what's currently in front of you. Everything changes. This is a [good] developer way of thinking.
I didn't forget my mans, it was just point the fact that Sycrus Tower gear is a very obvious example of what I was talking about. It is however also a good example of what I was describing as well.
well i think they must laughs a looooot
all of this is born from some datamined info from a very old build of a passive that was increasing DEX, no proof it was link to the ninja... but well people are people. even when Yoshida say to save MELEE dps gear, people are still talking of the bard stuff that it's a RANGED dps... but well.
just saying, you really think they have time to modify the basic of the game simply for allows dex to increase the damage of some class melee... it will recquire to check every monster so far and redo the whole work! wake up dude it will not happend, they are simply using some bad rumor born from datamined information for create a hype... and i must say it work fairly well so far!
Not doing anything! I will be helping my boyfriend get in to his dungeons by going healer to everything with him!
The new live letter recently revealed there will be no story requirement for Ninja Job unlock only that you must reach lvl 30 Rogue and the lvl 15 secondary Job like all other Jobs.
However, Rogue will not be a starter class and can only be unlocked once the player has obtained their 1st lvl 10 class and unlocked the Armory system so the journey shouldn't be a issue unless you don't have 1 class not level 10 yet.
I posted up the info on my 2.4 content post this morning.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...d-2.4-contents
also Eternal bond System is arriving on 2.45 and a 2nd Frontline area will be released in the future.
I remain unclear as to WHY there are so many people who are so vocally certain NIN's damage will be based on DEX? It's right there in the descriptions for the stats: STR for melee physical damage, DEX for ranged physical damage. NIN is clearly a melee attacker, so STR.
COULD SE change this around? Sure. They can make NIN based on Piety if they wanted to. But why would they? Why add the complexity? "We know we told you STR is for melee, but we're making NIN DEX because... well... reasons..." The only reason I've found with even an ounce of sense is the fact that DEX is currently underutilized in the game - not enough reason in my mind to bend over backwards like this.
Far more often, people argue that NIN should use DEX because Ninjas are dextrous (and MNKs arent?) or because that's how it's done in other games (not even worth addressing this argument; FFXIV is not other games, and it's CERTAINLY not a tabletop RPG).
More on the topic for the thread, I plan to prepare for NIN by loading up on lots of metal and cloth. I probably won't bother with NIN myself, but SOMEONE has to earn a crapton of money crafting HQ gear for the ones leveling. It might as well be me! :3
It's not that I'm against it being STR or not. In fact I don't really care either way. However the problem that I have lies in the fact that people just automatically assume that it will be STR, even going past the fact that Yoshi is on record saying that the team hadn't decided on what the stat was back then. It shouldn't be so hard to imagine another class utilizing DEX that's not a ranged job. No one knows how Ninja will work outside of what we are shown.
We also don't know the precise calculations structure or algorithms they use to select what jobs use what stats, only that we know the current melee DPS use STR, and the one job that uses DEX is BRD. What if they classify dual wielding as a DEX based stat? What if they added an entirely new stat, such as AGI? No one knows.
There's also the developmental data that was slipped into patch 2.28, which could mean anything. It could mean they planned (or are planning) on making DEX work with Ninja. It could mean that they are using DEX as a testing modifier for Rogue/Ninja abilities. They might have planned for it and still decided to go the STR route later on. They just wouldn't put it in game for no reason -- they have at least considered making Rogue and Ninja based on DEX.
doesn't really matter anyways since all current gears will transcend to the junk tier at the same patch nin is released, when we'll get new coil, new tome gears and probably craftable ( meldable ) 110 gears.
My Ninja 'prep' consists of a singular goal. Get all my remaining jobs to level 50 before Rogue is released. I want the achievement before the bar is raised :)
i110 is probably still going to be relevant for a while. Craftable gear will cost quite a bit since it will more than likely depend on new soldiery mats/having a supra or whatever new tool SE invents. Gear from the new Tome is going to take weeks to gather a complete set. and 3rd coil requires good rng/being able to down it which takes a couple of weeks for the general populace.
Offering my services as a tank for dungeon runs as they level. Paid service, obviously.
I havent played the game in several months, it's not fun but plan to return when ninja comes out.
