Beast tribe mounts!

As of right now, every trusted reward mount you get from beast tribe reps are the same as the quest mounts. Wouldn't it be cool if the mount you worked so hard for didn't look exactly like the mount you've been questing with for the past month? I'm not asking for a revamp or anything crazy like that, but maybe it could be the same mount but with armor and baring the crest of the specific beast tribe it belongs to? What do you guys think?

Careful now. I never did a quest for the Kobolds where I had a mount. The Bomb Swing was not test-driven like the other beast mounts.

Did we actually ride an Elbst anywhere? I can't recall as it was so long ago, but I don't think so. Just the short cs to get to and from the one island.

I haven't gone to buy it yet (on account of I'm broke) but the Ixali mount is a direwolf iirc which again, you haven't been riding any mounts for any of their quests.

So for Amal'jaa and the Sylphs, it's the same. 2/5. Bravo.

Beast tribe don't have barding or crest, as far as I remember...

Sylphs don't run around with armors, so I don't see why the gobbue should have it either...

I like the fact that we get to use the same mount we got to ride during the quests.
come to think of it, thou, only Sylphs and Amali'ja had mounts during their quest, lol

Okay so the Kobolds was a welcomed exception, and the Ixali makes sense since it never actually gives you any mount quests, but the Amalj'aa, Sylphs, and Sahagin reward the same mount you've been questing with. It doesn't have to be lore specific just something to spice things up a bit when you finally reached trusted.

I was thinking about this, and thought maybe they could put in more beastmen quests and have a new rank provide access to buy items that would change the "skin" of the tribal mount. Like chocobo fruits, but doesn't involve a stable, more instantaneous, but not as many choices. Basically you get 3 or so extra choices, but it'd be a bit more then just a color change, it'd be a change in the overall style (for example, a different looking chair for the bomb chair along with different colored bombs [green shrapnel bombs, with a different seat] , different color patterns for some of the animals, [like the summer event elbast coloring for the elbast]).

Sorry, but each tribes managed to tame a specific beast to be used as a companion for them.

Becoming friends and trusted with them, let them to open up to you and share their secrets to get one of your own, feeling like being a part of their tribe.

So it's working as intended.

Except that I believe "lots of us" hoped to get a Black Wolf, as the Ixali seems to have the black type.

But if they ever make every mounts available in the game to become your fighting companion, that would be an awesome story to look forward! (Doubt it will ever happen..)

if by "watching a 3 sec cutscene" you mean riding a mount, then yes, Sahagin counts, too.

But then I'd also want a mount that looked like the quest ones...

(Also as a little picky note, the beast tribe mounts are identical to the quest mounts ONLY for the two first tribes (Amalj'aa, Slyphs). The other three tribes have no mount quests whatsoever.

So we're ignoring the fact that these mounts are unique to their monster counterparts? The fact that we now get the mounts that have been featured in the quests is all that matters?

It's not like the beast tribes themselves are asking "When will we get our own chocobos like the players do?" Because according to the Data files, they have Beast Tribe chocobos.

So just deal with it.

The whole reasoning behind these mounts is that they are trusting us enough to be willing to give us a mount that they would normally breed for their own use. There wouldn't be anything different between them and the ones we use in the quests since they are from the same stock.

And the kobolds "raise" bombs so that explains the palanquin.

I'm not asking for different mounts, just saying it would be cool if they wore some armor, since you know.. You'd be riding them into combat and what not. I mean honestly who wouldn't want an armored Goobbue!?

Considering my favorite mount is the minstrel's goobbue... not I. In fact, it'd be really weird to see a goobbue in plate mail given that you never see armored goobbues anywhere in the whole of the Final Fantasy series. In fact, armored chocobos aren't all that popular, either, but you see all sorts of barding for them in this game so XIV is somewhat unique. Armor, though, is just cosmetic so I don't see the point.

I could see a new color or something awarded at teh allied rank the same way you get 5 new minions, but I don't think people would very much like running out and spending 1.25 million on mounts all at once.

Got Crests, look in Reputation tab in the Character window :)
