What i want to talk about is the reality of achievements and some of the difficulty levels involved with them.

So lets start with one that has me pulling out a math book and a pencil

Who wants to be a gillionaire?

This achievements requires a player to accumulate 10,000,000 gil from leve quests
however with the max amount of gil gotten from ANY leve being around 700g

1 leve 700g 1400g
so with HQ turn ins netting 1400g it would take 7143 turn ins
and you only get 2190 level allowances every year meaning it would take more than 6+ years to get this achievement

mind you my math is crap

so what achievements do you feel are astronomical and outlandishly difficult or time consuming to complete

PS: mind you i also find any achievement where you have to do a set number of something
kinda BS

as in: Do 5000 of these things

If you play for lets say, 5 years how hard is it to do?

Long term goals. Those are achievements.
We already have easy ones, to balance things out there are some far reaching ones.

You can actually get that achievement in just over 250 days. But it's very expensive to do so.

my math was based on HQ turn ins. if there is some other way i am all ears

I haven't even been trying and I'm about 1/10th of the way to the gillionaire achievement (I do on average maybe one or two leves a week if that). Then again some of that was from 1.0. Keep in mind that level caps will raise, and with it comes leves with higher rewards. I'm sure if you've been playing for 6+ years you'd get this achievement without any effort.

Also, the "5000 of these things" achievements are incredibly easy. You can complete some of these within a few hours as long as you don't mind grinding it. The luminaries are especially easy (much more so than in 1.0).

Nobody who has registered to xivpads has that one yet, and I bet the vast majority of achievement hunters have their profiles linked. Gotta call BS on getting it in 250 days. The way leves regen, it's just not possible.

Triple turn ins seems to be the way to go, they use 1 leve and if items are HQ you can net large amounts of gil

and i think i found a unique answer:

45 High Mythril Armor x 3 Town Some Dragoons Have All the Luck 977

This is the single most profitable leve, netting 2900 gil each time it is fully completed

now, if i were to do this leve and only this one, using loose math
10,000,000 gil needed, divided by 3000 gil, is 3333 turn ins, if turn ins double gil, cut turn ins in half 1500

let me go check this ingame, i need to make sure gil is doubled when turn ins happen

Those achievments maded to be long term aquiered . At this moment we have 1 - 50~ leves which reward not so big , but should you wait several years to cap raises , new areas will lead player i belive to more highest level leves , and those will lend player more biggest reward . Also who knows if SE decide in future to add leve "chain" like it was in 1.0 for full party ("chain" leaded to great rewards like 80~100k leve lol)

There are both short term and long term achievements, I see nothing wrong. As you said, it's unrealistic if said player wanted it immediately.

Assuming this is a normal player that subscribes every month as it expires, it's the same with the veteran rewards. You can't expect a person to get the 6 year veteran reward without having to play/subscribe for that much time.

Gil is doubled, no need to check it.

This leve is the best way to progress towards Gillionaire but the problem is that you use stacks of mythril ore for a single leve. Good luck clearing through a log of 100 stored leves in a timely fashion.

6 years... hm... that beats every other achivement of 1.xx where the highest was about 3 and a half year!

Keep game alive and running six years, is an achievement per se. Wish them succeed. :)
