Action Bar - Please add the (-) and (+) buttons to the interface

Hello,
If for some reason these buttons are being used, and I just haven't found out what they are doing, then let me know, otherwise I would like to request that the "-" key and the "+" key get incorporated into the Action bar.

This would open it up to allow for more actions to be equipped on one bar at a time. As well as allow users to select the action they want via pressing those keys to do the action as well.

Currently the system goes from 1 to 0 on the keyboard, adding the - and + key would allow for 12 actions to be equipped per page.

They are adding more action bars on screen in the future.

Since the action bar is used in battle, not only do we need to look into the possibility of changing the UI, but we also need to discuss how this change would affect battles with the battle team lead. Making this change would require the entire key mapping settings to be revamped, so it's a little bit difficult to implement, but we will look into the possibility with the team leads.

rather then adding 2 more buttons that are still so far away from your hands. Would rather just have full access to your binds. Letting you bind q / e / z / x / alt+q / alt+e etc etc basically everything near WSAD as abilities. I know the devs aren't exactly known for letting players have full control of binds but would be nice to see in this game, since it hasn't really been in most of the other SE released games.

I was wondering while were talking about user interface issues, could we possibly be given the option to change our window style similar to other final fantasy type games? Also was wondering if we could change the window style and target curser to that classic final fantasy style white border with blue background and the finger cursor thats been in just about every FF game to this point. I just feel it would make it feel more like a final fantasy title with these changes. By the way, you guys are awesome! Keep up the good work!! :D

I'd rather have both. 2 more action bar spaces AND be able to rebind the action bar slots to any key.

Yeah really, ALT+1, SHIFT+1, CTRL+1 etc. please.

- won't be mapped for some reason on the regular keyboard, but on numpad its menu, and + on the numpad is one of the only mappable keys that I have left, and I really don't want it to go into adding more numbers to the action bar to make it look like every other mmo that goes from 1-+/=, I personally find it great XIV tried to have a unique action bar and find it funny everyone wants a f2p copy of the action bar. The only thing I'd personally ask is them to remove the action bar and give us macros back, I know I know people hate this, but the action cost system is a little insane sometimes when you're cross classing effectively for the role you want to fill, and I have almost all three bars filled with abilities and the 3rd row is abilities with huge recast timers and raises, and buffs, basically less used spells. The fact that the less used spells are necessary in oh crap moments but pretty much underused irks me to no end, if we had the menu back from xi but streamlined to be easier for dumb people (lol i'm being mean but i'm kinda half joking i understand the ui of xi is intimidating at first), I can could use all the spells I want and macro more important spells. Battle macros is this game become useless after awhile since they change the battle system, since we get used to way the battle system is and our macros suddenly don't make it any easier (like battle regimens or buffing macros). I'd like to use macros for more than just gear changes honestly. I'd like crtl and alt to switch between my 2nd and 3rd bar of abilities on the action bar during battle too instead of macros. On keyboard pressing 1-0 isn't hard, but think about controller, my boyfriend played xi on xbox, and he'd really like the ability to have crtl and alt ( or triggers for the control) be more tied to the action bar then his macro.

What that man said, 30 abilities is not enough?
Its freakin damn easy to press 1-0 with control and alt.
More buttons is a bad thing.

What really needs to happen is to enable us to set SKILLS TOO on these slots except just macros so we can SEE the cooldowns, not just feel them...

think i have to agree with the "ALT+1, SHIFT+1, CTRL+1", its much easier for Keyboard players than you think.
And i doube gamepad players will have much problem navigating 3 actions bars with the controller cross.

I offered them a suggestion that actually would cover 36 action slots instead of 30. It was meant for joypad, but i think it can be used at kb aswell. The basic was allowing to set 9 actions to each button (cross, square, circle and triangle...and yep, i use PS2 joypad) so during battle you could access them by arrow + button combo. Those who played Tales of Fantasy (very old) would think its a similar mechanic to the one used at that game (also similar to super smash bros skill combo system)...but there they were related to only one button and here i suggested using all 4 buttons during battle.

So, basically, you would have access to an action by pressing just one of the buttons (default cursor position) or holding one of the 8 directional arrow positions and pressing the button.

But its like i suggested them...it not being an action bar...it actually being a different widget that can be swapped with action bar so players can use the one they feel that fit their needs the best. IMO hacing multiple widgets with multiple mapping/configurations/mechanics would add flexibility to the game.

Thank you for responding Bayohne, and I mean you no offense with this response; and appreciate your representation here, but the game balance should not be relying on the UI to hinder players from performing well. If that's part of the ongoing discussions on how to balance the game then something is wrong.

Players value fluid combat so much, and the limits placed on the task bar through 1-0 and only one action bar on the screen at a time kill the fluidity.

Very true. A 101-key input device versus a 16-button input device. It's going to be tricky.

SE NO LOVE KEYBOARDERS!!! =(

we just need tab back to cycle enemies n to get rid of this dumb targeting mode being toggled by up & down arrow key, then the action bar will b fine. imo its not the keyboard players SE have made it hard for, its the keyboard + mouse players, it seems they want us to use the keyboard only. I don't know why id ever want myself to b limited by that, or which person at SE decided it was a good idea to change it to that in the 1st place. Oh and lienn that is a brilliant idea, make the pad controls terrible to match keyboard + mouse =p i kid btw but it does seem somewhat too complicated

At the moment trying to navigate with the d-pad feels like the atmosphere just turned to treacle/golden syrup and now you've got a 100m sprint through your air/treacle combo. Could just be me and my brothers problem though.

Don't forget that CTRL-ALt already represent Macros. Would have to find other buttons or remove macros for that to work.

So, right now you could map your abilities to those buttons, you don't need SE to do it for you.
You could easily set up a CTRL-4 macro to be #4 on your second bar. Just saying.

What might help this is adding Shift 1-3, to quickly switch to that page. Shift-3 opens bar 3, or if multiple are active at once (with a UI change) it makes that the "active" row.

I don't see how adding two additional slots would effect the game pad players, instead of seeing 10 commandant per bar you would now have 12 commands. I think people would find it useful. :)

How about just giving us unlimited action slots like in every other MMO out there? And how about we get to bind those slots to whatever keys we wish?

That way we'd be able to actually see the cooldowns on all abilities at once and we'd be able to put items and macros into the bars instead of unnecessarily having whole separate systems for them.

Sure, you can't exactly play WoW with a game pad, but for those who insist on using pads even though it's not necessary even for future PS3 players, how about making the current UI available as an alternative? Sure, they handicap themselves when using it but at least it's optional instead of forced on everyone.

Just let us choose what every button in the game does!!! Problem solved! Just make a huge list of commands and a column to the right where you can choose which button does that command. Very simple, everyone is happy!! Don't force us to bind a key to any specific command because there is going to be somebody that doesn't like it that way. The fixed keys section is screwing everybody, REMOVE IT.

I don't know why you singled out this one over the others. If it's just to say it's too hard i'm going to repost what i said in the other dev thread: "90% of reviews mention the controls" "90% of reviews are terrible" I'll get you a link for the wiki after. Now, if you're just going to sit on these reviews well i just don't think it sends a very positive message to the market...
