Canceling Sub over Housing

I originally canceled over the RNG of the atma grind (which is still not fixed.).... I came back did everything with the exception of T7-9...even coil no longer feels rewarding... I stuck around hoping Housing would be different another failed promise on the part of Square Enix, and another subscription lost to this patch.

Have any goodies to sell before you go (again)? Maybe your 3rd time will be the charm.

Would you like it if everyone said such things to you on everything you have complained about in your post history? Just because someone has more interest in a different aspect of the game than you does not make it less important than yours when they complain about that instead of the things you 'whine' about as you call it.

No, just tired of all the whining that goes into these forums. ATMA SUX! = cancel. I come back. Housing SUX!!! = cancel. Will come back again to whine about something else.

The difference is, I dont throw down my controller and immediately log into the forums to add the 197th thread about housing and / or cancelling my subscription.

Jican - your sig line is awesome lol and proves that Yoshi lied to everyone. Why did they do that I wonder? Because they knew people would be upset about the truth and they wanted to keep sub's. This is very depressing since now we can't believe anything he ever says again.

You whine about things all the time, I have looked at your own post history so don't hate on another player for complaining about an element they desired which is having a major problem when your quite happy to whine about the things like weapon upgrade books as one example out of many. You whine just like everyone else so stop being hypocritical. The only actual difference is you just don't care about this aspect of the game as much as others do.

And I agree. A man is only as good as his word, and once the trust is lost, it has to be built back up. I for one won't trust anything he says again.

The problem with that, though, is that you are actually wrong in your interpretation (which isn't that elusive or difficult to understand unless you purposely ignore facts that stare at you).

That quote was written in December when 2.1 was written. Now, unless you want to suggest that Yoshida also has a crystal ball and wrote that post knowing what the game situation would be like come October Patch 2.38, it's pretty obvious that he meant house prices for personal housing would be cheaper in 2.38 than it was in 2.1 (which he also recently confirmed).

And that's is actually true. Read the patch notes for 2.1. You'll find that (for my server, Excalibur) the smallest, crappiest house was 20 million gil. In 2.38, that same house is 4 million. That's a 1/5th of the price. I call this "far more affordable".

The price of the highest tier of houses was 312,500,000 gil. In 2.38, this same house is 87,500,000 gil, or less than 1/3 of the price. This I also call "far more affordable".

Since we're parsing, how about the fact that the phrasing pretty strongly suggests this interpretation:

"prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable [than free company housing]."

He definitely didn't say "more affordable than these current 2.1 prices of free company housing," and in the full context of his post he had already addressed that the price of FC housing would be adjusted as time goes on so it doesn't even make sense for him to be referring to that. He was pretty clearly trying to assure people that player housing would be cheaper than FC housing, not "the same price as FC housing, but that price will be cheaper than it is now."

Imagine if nobody had complained when 1.0 came out.

there probably wouldnt be a FFXIV now.

I have made a few comments on existing threads, (not many, more like 3 that you could even construe as complaining) that is true. Again though, i dont threaten to cancel my sub and or make a brand new thread over a topic that is already being discussed and/ or in process. Do I care about this as much as you do? Perhaps not, but it doesnt mean it doesnt matter to me.

As the housing was the only reason I reactivated my sub again I'm sorry to say I will be cancelling it once more.
Already all the plots that are less than 32mill are taken in the area I dreamed of having a house. It's quite obvious as a casual player I wont be able to participate in having a house to call my own and enjoy.

Not only that, but FC prices didn't go up. If the values of homes are being "adjusted for inflation from 2.1" why aren't the FC prices doubling? It doesn't make sense in ANY thoughtful interpretation.

Canceled my subscription as well, I'd like a 37mil medium plot, I have 3.5 mil on me. Sooo in about a year i might be able to purchase that house granted the plot is available and that they add a SHIT TON more then "double" the current available wards. And no "any plot" will not do, I have a certain plot that I want, and only that plot will do. I haven't maxed out crafting, and I've never been good at screwing..i mean working the auction houses.

PS OP: there are always going to be mindless fan boi's who will defend a game for no reason other then. "I love this game they can do no wrong" (subscription now cost 100 a month) "I love this game they can do no wrong." Some of us require higher standards from the games we play. I'm sorry, but to the people that are trying to defend the "complaining"..you're a bit wrong. Complaining and giving constructive feedback is one thing. Then there is just mindless insulting without really giving any advice. What I'm mostly seeing is the latter. No feedback, nothing that might can help the situation. Just mindless insulting.

It appears I can still log into the forums? O.o... for clarification since someone went on a jealousy rampage after looking up my minions and mounts, I didn't buy "10 mil" worth of minions go look at the fact I have 50 everything. I collected minions for fun while maxing up everything. This is not about having a lack of gil either, I could have easily dropped the gil on a small (maybe medium if I cared I still can't justify pushing for a large house unless it's an FC house in the current status of "Personal" housing.) house in the wards that still had houses available. (and for what's it's worth I did finish one atma grind just for the heck of it when I came back for a short stint. I have a very different perspective of how the grind is and how you should only play if FFXIV is actually "fun" When it is no longer enjoyable it is time to put the controller/keyboard/mouse/headset away and stop paying.)


My issue with housing is while the price (though I could afford it.) was misleading though doable, I was under the impression that Personal housing would be different.
I do not want an FC House.
I had already in the past leveled a Max Rank FC and bought a 1st Ward house for said FC as the primary contributor.
That only led to a ton of drama that could be avoided I guess if I kicked all the members and had a FC to myself...but how is that possibly "fun"? The community is what makes FFXIV and in it's better years FFXI the MMORPG that I wanted to play, a lack of community or worse creating a toxic market by competing FC's isn't healthy. Also why would I want to drop a large amount of gil on a house where none of my friends would even bother to visit? I didn't get into the "personal" Rooms even though as an FFXI player that's a tempting(lack of a moogle and gardening was my reason.),

my main interest was I thought this "different" "seperate from FC housing" would be another ward with (ideally) all small houses with gardens and I could have my friends as neighbors.

I think it's funny the people that act like somehow I'm in the wrong for quitting when I'm no longer having fun. I stated this in a way that S.E and perhaps the higher ups of the dev team can see a more vocal approach if people are angry with a dev. idea creating multiple Threads on the same topic to be more vocal to create awareness that there is a problem with the current implementation of a design idea. that needs to be fixed. (I guess raising awareness with your sub fee is now called "whining" eh go figure.)

Yesterday my sister canceled her sub and sent me her (millions of) gil. Personal housing is what she was looking forwards to for the last year. It was far more expensive and there were far fewer plots than what would have kept people happy.

Honestly I think if they would have said a month ago that there wasn't going to be enough housing for everyone this patch and listed the prices we would have been less pissed off yesterday morning when many of us thought we were going to log in and purchase a personal house.

As a former raider gone casual, i have to agree I'm disappointed by this patch and housing. I figured personal housing wards would be something like aion was able to do (size wise).... not cut and paste more of the same 30 some odd property wards and hope for the best. Honestly for non raider players, not much to do endgame...

Yeah, this. I really wish they would have said SOMETHING. Anything. Not waiting until the day of the patch. I was super hyped for personal housing, both seeing what I could create and what my friends could create. I read the patch notes when the server went down and my heart sunk. That night I did not really sleep because I really wanted a house and, long story short this game was causing me more anxiety than a game should have.

It paid off though, I guess, I did get the house that I had wanted, but I am just not as satisfied with it as I had been hyped for. I guess the land rush and knowing that I screwed a potential 30+ person FC out of a whole house that I cannot even share with my friends really killed the mood.

I am keeping it though, for role-play purposes, but I really hope things change.

After reading over everything posted so far, and knowing what has been said in the past and reading how people have defended/persecuted Yoshi-P for it:

WHERE IS IT WRITTEN THAT THE LIVE LETTERS AND THE WORDS OF YOSHI-P AND THE DEV TEAM ARE A GOSPEL FOR THIS GAME!!!!

Sorry for the yelling. Yes, I have posted some things about this housing EPIC FAIL. However, to those who are cancelling over this issue, and to those who continue to play and are pissed, and to those who continue to play and are cool with it:

REALITY SHOWS THEY NEVER TOLD US ANYTHING!

For that the EPIC FAIL of this is due to them telling us nothing, and due to that we HYPER over built it up in our own heads.

I am also a part of that EPIC FAIL since they told us nothing, my dream of personal housing was to get a plot 2x the size of the large houses, put a cabana/shack/merchant stall on it, 2 4x4 gardens, a stable, crafting tables, NPC vendors, mail box, teleport stone, and have trees with hammocks for other players to lounge in. I also wanted a vault/tac room that would hold 1000 items and a strong box that would hold 50 of each amour/weapon type.

to all of you who are complaining - I win since I got nothing that I wanted, and they show no signs of ever adding it into the game. Yeah it sucked reading the notes during the upload. However, I also wasn't totally surprised by it.

However, when I have the money (2 to 4 years from now) I will finally go and get my personal house. On Exodus, since the 2.1 patch, the existing 5 wards weren't fully filled when they added the 6th, and since they have added the 7th and 8th, even more land will still be there. After the 2.4 upload, whatever property I want will probably still be waiting for me when I can finally purchase it.

To those of you on Legacy Servers and Servers that have an insane land rush after the patch went live, come over to Exodus. True you will lose playing with friends you have made over the last year, but you will be able to get your own pad pretty quick...and if you wait the 90 days for it to be cheaper, it will probably still be waiting for you to buy it.
