Can we start a list of all servers where small housing is already sold out?

Reports from Reddit are coming in that small houses on the following servers are either entirely sold out or on the brink of being sold out already:

Balmung
Masamune
Excalibur
Gilgamesh
Behemoth
Ragnarok
Sargatanas (All but Ul'Dah sold)
Tonberry
Aegis (All size plots selling out)
Hyperion

These are only reports from players on Reddit and the true numbers may be much higher.

What is blatantly obvious is that double the plots in 2.4 is an absolute joke and not even close to the necessary amount.

Ten times as many plots would be reasonable with the current system of FCs and players sharing wards, especially with people using their alts to buy up multiple houses.

Either that or implement a housing zone separate from Free Companies which is built to sustain the hundreds of thousands of people who play this game.

As it stands the vast majority of the player base is being denied access to a feature that has been teased and talked about for literally months.

This in no way detracts from the argument they set the price point too high. The rapid selling out of houses is most likely related to how incredibly scarce they are and will be even in 2.4. Free Companies now need to race to get a house or not have anything for their entire guild, meanwhile there are hundreds of thousands of players competing over a handful of plots.

By setting the initial price at 4 million gil, they have excluded anyone without that much expendable income from buying a house before they inevitably sell out.

The fact that some people have more than 4 million gil does not justify the exclusion of a significant chunk of the population that can't just throw that much money away on a house. The fact the prices are going to come down is irrelevant if there is such scarcity in housing supply that they're selling out instantly.

It is purchased by the small minority of people with large amounts of money. I see you going into every thread defending this feature, but I'm guessing you already have a house and a lot of gil. Simply put, personal housing implemented this way was bad.

Ragnarok: I logged in 40min after the Patch was up and all small houses were sold out ... (okay, just checked Limsa and Gridania, but i think the most people want a house in one of those areas...)

its not about the cost. It is about the demand compared to what was supplied. in 20 minutes, every single small house on Balmung was sold out, most of those to individuals.

The price is fine especially considering fc's bought a good chunk of it today that have been waiting on it for a long while so they had plenty of gil (if you do a bunch of gathering and crafting its not too hard but 30 mil for a mid is pushing it for single players). But i'm still thinking in legacy servers in 2.4 housing will get ate up almost just as fast give or take a few minutes.)

Which is a fair point, as i've said in a number of posts (including the one above yours), and SE have addressed as they are going to be doubling the wards in 2.4. So no need for yet another housing thread.

Do you see any other post attempting to catalogue the servers which are rapidly filling, and the extent of the scarcity problem?

No? Well then try having a little empathy rather than making useless sarcastic comments and making a ton of posts complaining that people are complaining. Not everyone has access to that amount of money in such a time that they can obtain a house.

The price would not be an issue if there weren't severe scarcity, but as it stands even 2.4 isn't going to add a fraction of the houses required for the player base so those with less gil will simply not have access to the content. The issue is rooted in the incredibly low number of plots available, and the fact that they are shared with Free Companies. Doubling a small number still gives you a small number relative to the hundreds of thousands playing this game.

On Balmung, all of the small houses are indeed gone in the Mists. 90% of them went to individuals. It is of course, their right with how this was implemented, but it does make the situation so much sadder for those hopeful FCs who were already snubbed out of a house with the last land race on overpopulated servers.

And beyond the 40 lucky souls who managed to snag a house for themselves in the Mists, there's the thousands of individuals that have been waiting for personal housing because they are either FC-less, in a homeless FC, or in an FC where the leaders don't allow the peons any of the housing perks.

It was irresponsible to implement this in this way, and force both of these very large groups to players compete with each other over such limited space and high prices, when some of the content houses provide should absolutely be available to everyone. (Chocobo coloring specifically, IMO)

ETA: I'd check the other wards for confirmation, but the controller movement delay is too durn annoying to play the game with right now. ^^;

4 mil or so really isnt hard to get, if you do the dailies and have a crafter leveled you can easily get like 100k a day just by doing the Ixali dailies and using the tokens you get to buy mats and craft HQ items, I was lucky enough to get a house in one of the old wards for 2.3 mil or so in Ul'dah before they were all sold out, had to get up at 7am though.

Currently the housing available is like this per server:
30 House per Ward (3 Large, 7 Medium, 20 Small)
8 Wards per City (6 Old Wards, 2 New Wards that just started deflation process, will still be another 3 months before prices at lowest, but chances are houses will be bought before price drops)
3 Cities (Limsa is probably the most popular, followed by Gridania then Ul'dah, at least based on my server)

So there are 720 Houses Available, however there are 3 Large houses and 7 Medium Houses per Ward, and its not often an individual can afford one, not to mention that they probably aren't available.

So the there is 480 small houses available per server, then we have to probably divide that number to include all the houses that are already owned by FC. So there will probably be about maybe 100 to 400 houses available per server depending on server population, hardly enough for the amount people playing. Even with patch 2.4 where they will double the wards, there will only be 960 small houses per server.

And from my Understanding server population is from 15,000 to 150,000, so yea... about 1000 people will own houses on each server in patch 2.4.

Small plots on Sargatanas are sold out on Lavender Beds and Mist, but there are still some plots remaining at The Goblet.

100% to individuals btw - none to any FCs yet

You misunderstand relativity.

Whether 1,400 is small is entirely dependant on the population of the server. There are without a doubt a great deal more than 1,440 people on the average server and thus 1,400 is a very small number relative to the amount of houses required (10,000 per server would be much more reasonable).

1440 is not going to be nearly enough for a highly populated server like Balmung. Especially now that people are going to be saving up the money and racing to get the small plots first.

Tonberry, was sold out of small houses completely in the first few minutes once servers were up.

For those of us that are concerned about the timetable of the rollout for when this "promised feature" of personal housing will be available, that concern is well warranted. Given what we were told today by Yoshi the wards will be doubled in 2.4, as if this is any kind of acceptable solution, the math shows us this: 8new_wards/GC_faction * 20small_houses/ward * 3GC_factions/server *64servers/2.3million_subscribers = .0133small_house/subscriber.

That means more than 98% of the paying subscribers will not have access to the option to buy a small plot of land in 2.4 (even if they have the funds) and will be continued to be denied access to this "promised feature". For 2.4 there will undoubtedly be another land race on the big servers and all the small plots will again be eaten in minutes, so we'll have to play the lottery again to see who can log in and click the fastest.

That 1440 includes all the Large and Medium houses too, there are only 960 small houses in patch 2.4. For the larger servers where there are about 150,000 people, not even 1% of the population will own a house...
