Regarding inconsistent previous statements made on the future of Personal Housing

So, with that in mind, for the purpose of both player speculation and seeking transparency from the development team of FFXIV, I would like to ask publicly the following to our community:
*What changed in the development process that did not allow personal housing to be separate from free company housing?
*This change is extremely significant. Why was this change not announced in advance? If it was, where was this announcement made?
*Was the situation with the development changes in Personal Housing exceptional, or can we expect this level of consistency on pre-release statements in future development of FFXIV:ARR?

I'm sure they had to change plans, honestly not sure why on earth they allowed this. I can afford the house even at the going rate but it feels wrong when I know their are FC's out there that have been waiting for a spot to free up and I don't want to take that from them. Honestly they should not have allowed this and just opened up a decent amount of wards chock full of small little houses people could own for about no more than 1.5M for say beach front property.

But I guess this is what they are going with for now.

I am wondering if this is something else...something to get some of the gil out of the serial crafters/Coil sellers or such. Then in 2.4 they release the real personal which everyone can have.

I'm hoping his answers to "personal housing" didn't just mean the FC rooms. I don't mind sharing the wards with FCs, the prices are just so crazy, especially since they based FC prices on what a group can afford. Yet personal housing prices aren't very different from original FC prices. I guess this turned out to be more of a "luxury" system than anyone imagined.

They know how much gil is in circulation and probably realized that going cheap at the start would result in people being upset about there being no land left when they logged in after work. So they instead chose to just have you all be upset with how much it all costs, since well, they did it before and have possibly grown immune to complaints about housing prices by now.

Of course, this doesn't answer the question of why Personal Housing is folded into the same wards as FC Housing, even though we were told it would be a separate market, which I would reckon is the real concern given the bizarre surplus/deficit crisis many servers face...

Even a mansion wouldn't take half the Gil coil sellers has. I have known people who have made 200-300m through sales and I'm sure there's people that have done even more on larger servers.

Oh, but I thought yoshi-p just released a statement talking about limited resources. He probably can't give intimate details about it, but the reason is probably hidden behind that statement somewhere.

True. I guess the question is ultimately up to why a game that is certainly worth millions of dollars can't afford proper server technology for something like this (which an extension, not a modification, meaning new architecture was being built from the ground up for this) or use that technology in a less static and more efficient way (such as by committing more server power to servers in need, and also why last-minute announcements are scheduled for these major releases when technical limitations are known by any competently managed software development team weeks before they start a project.

Thanks for the links. This was supposed to have calmed us down during the first fleecing with FC housing prices and availability. He lied. Pure and simple.

I have to agree. I don't want to add over-much to the tidal wave of "OMG PERSONAL HOUSING SUXXORZ YOSHIDA YOU ARE THE WORST" crap infesting the forum right now, but -this- is the thing that really upsets me about personal housing. Not the price, that stings a bit but it just means I have to be content with my FC house room, and idly speculate whether it's supposed to pull RMT gil out of circulation, but the fact that Yoshida himself said that housing would be cheaper on a personal level, and now it appears from the current iteration of the patch notes that it won't be.
