Guraaaaaaaaaah!
"One you have completed the quest “Mmmmmm, Soulglazed Relics,” you will be able to alter the materia-enhanced properties of your relic weapon novus or relic weapon nexus. Prepare a new sphere scroll of the correct type to receive the power of your chosen relic weapon, then use materia and alexandrite to redo the infusion process."
Is this for people who have made mistakes on their Novus and want to redo stats? Or do we all have to do another sphere scroll?
From the way I read it, it is an optional feature that becomes available once you complete the quest regardless of whether it is still in its novus or nexus stage. So basically, you can re-do the stat allocations for your relic in the event you ever change your mind or realize you made a mistake. So yeah, pretty much.
I don't really understand the notes about the new relic quest. At all.
"A weapon’s soul attunement level will rise by a set amount determined by the activity being performed. This amount, however, may increase each time a certain period of time passes."
From the sounds of it, it would seem that it is something akin to a spirit bonding like system. Not specific to any single activity, but rather multiple activities over a period of time.
Frankly though I'm really curious to see what they will look like now, but from the title of the quest you do to get it suggests to me that it's just another glow effect. =/
I seriously doubt it. With the stats a novus has it would over take the HA weapons. It's almost certainly ilvl 115 in name only.
We do specific things that will empower the new relic weapon (probably instances, raids, etc.). It also sounds like some things empower it more than others. The part that concerns me is...
"A weapon’s soul attunement level will rise by a set amount determined by the activity being performed. This amount, however, may increase each time a certain period of time passes."
This sounds like chocobo dyeing. We may not be immediately aware of what tasks are better than others?
So, they're confirmed to be 115. Will we get increased stats? Or will it be like Atma where the stats were exactly the same as Zenith?
Well, there was this...

Glad I'm not the only one that got the reference haha
So i's gonna be like..SBed? kinda....and probably certain stuff increases this %? and maybe there will be a limit on how much each activity raises this %?
If I'm right ( doubt it ) sounds like animus except we don't know what to do/kill?
I am betting Nexus (isn't that a car brand? will be just another texture swap.
I suppose it would be too much to hope for that the replacement Sphere Scroll starts at fully infused stats and can be tweaked from there rather than being built again from the ground up :P Guess we'll find out soon lol.
It feels like the jury is still out on whether or not you'll be forced to redo the Sphere Scroll to upgrade to a Nexus...although the wording feels like it's just to compensate for the adjustment to i115. I would guess that new relic SBing-thing will divide into categories, like the Animus upgrade had us do (FATEs, Dungeons, Leves). Possibly even Primals and Raids required.
It sounds like spiritbonding. My initial reaction was this is a way to get people into ex primals and coil 1 again since those would be the logical best ways to increase your weapons sould attunement level. But since this is SE we are talking about I dont expect logical. Especially after seeing this part.
Probably gonna be some hidden rng to it where the content that raises attunement changes every so often and people just have to keep doing random things then talk to the npc to see if there was a change or not.Quote:
Thus sharing information with other players will be invaluable in planning the most efficient method of attunement.
"A weapon’s soul attunement level will rise by a set amount determined by the activity being performed. This amount, however, may increase each time a certain period of time passes."
Um, is it me or does this sound like an artificial time gate? Almost like a faux currency cap. Like if after passing the weekly soldiery limit you still gained soldiery tomes but at 1/10th the rate.
Also I'm sorry to say that changing the stats on your Novus sounds exactly like turning in another sphere scroll with 75 more Alexandrite to grind out. Oh geez.
They didn't explicitly say that it changes form yet, so my guess is it just glows brighter as animus to novus.
However, the final form is zodiak, so there will be a transformation.
Rumors say this is the final form:

Here is a better view:

From what I interpret, it's just that the amount of attunement gained from an activity will increase as time goes on, kinda like how housing prices devalue after a certain amount of time (might not be a great time to use that analogy now, but...). Thus, it'll be easier, say, a month from now, than it is the moment the patch comes out.
I really hope the novus/nexus restat allows to ONLY change the stats that are undesirable. Otherwise I wasted a LOT of gil adding what crit/det I could. My crit/det/acc bow might have to suffice if we have to redo an entire sphere scroll from scratch- Alexandrite, Materia, and all.... ::sigh:: fingers crossed.
So... it sounds like the Novus Weapons have to be 100% Spiritbonded?
Sounds like some glorified countdown process that'll steadily unlock itself, but certain things you do might marginally increase the speed at which it unlocks.
...I'm not sure how I feel about it, if that's the case. I guess I'll reserve judgement until we get more details in-game.
As for altering the stats, I kinda hope you can pick and choose the stats you remove versus totally wiping it clean. I'd rather take Spell Speed over Crit on mine now, but I don't want to sacrifice all those Det IVs I spent. X_X
Given their talking about setting the Scroll stats to "i110 levels" for redoing the stats, I am fairly confident this upgrade to i115 IS bringing the corresponding stat increases. Which means HA weapons are about to be outdated for people who upgraded optimally (or even sorta optimally).
Could be, but I don't think it will work like spiritbonding currently does... otherwise, you'd have to farm second coil with it...basically just doing the trash in turn 7 and turn 8 forever and ever until it's bound...
Odds are, there is some special fate or some kind of thing you spawn, and go kill and it gives you some kind of bond/points. Like for instance, maybe you use your weapon on hunting mobs.
Errr, so what happened to changing the look/glow effect?
I'm almost at novus but I don't want that horrid gold glow
It sounds like a very intricate and extensive spiritbonding process. I'm actually looking forward to it. It'll give me something to work for on nights that I don't raid. I'm most excited about the fact that it won't kill my wallet like Novus did.
Well, considering it was possible to wipe specific melds off the original sphere scroll I'd imagine the process will be the same. We'll create the new sphere, the 75 melds we've got on our weapon will go onto it. From there we can swap around whatever stats we want, as well as adding the additional 3 stats the i115 weapons have before handing it back over and finishing the Nexus weapon.
At least, I hope that's the case... the materia market will just implode if everyone's got another 78 materia to infuse. =/
Not to mention it would fuel the fire already created by the anti-housing update mobs. lolol
Sounds like various things will give a % of completion (ie. killing overworld trash, dungeons, raids, primals, FATES, possibly quests or even just exploring, but probably not). Various times, or orders, or something that could be intelligibly transmitted to another player will increase the rate of completion, though I do expect that underneath it all merely killing trash in T7 and T8 will probably be the fastest way of completing it, even if it's not at all what they intend. Then again, it might be that you have an invisible meter for several activities and you need to fill each one (essentially animus books without specific or visible requirements). For example, you might kill trash mobs for hours on end, gaining completion the whole time, but then it stops at X% and doesn't budge anymore. Time to run dungeons or do something else that will make it move again.
I really don't think that will be the case. If you want to swap stats on the first sphere scroll you lose the materia you put into it and have to buy the correct ones to meld. I imagine this editing people can do will be the same system. So you'll have the advantage of getting the upgrade to i115 w/o any additional cost. People who have slightly different stats will need to get some Alexandrite and buy a few materia to change what they want.
