I'm sort of an old school RPGer so I favor the fixed stat progression because it allows more amplification for racial stats of tarutaru/mithra/hume/etc to make each have a clear advantage with certain jobs which I always loved :).
I want to know though, given the power to choose, would you guys favor allotting the points yourself for each armoury class or have fixed stats by each level?
Both.
Give me the stats the way they are intended, but let me adjust them as I see fit.

If you are old school RPG-er, you would have to have your stats dice-rolled, not fixed.
Allotted for me, I'll take playing my character according to my preferences any day over being forced to play in a specific manner.
Stat myself, if it were ever fixed/auto-distrubuted, I'd quit.
Its perfect the way yoshida will release it. I like the fact that its fixed, but get x amount of points per level to distribute myself.
yeah they are planning on doing both ways, and I kind of like it that way.
You get set states at start, and set increase at level up, but then you get some points to play with and tweak yourself to what you like.
Me for instance, I want to be a Lancer/Con (with DRG I guess as job *shrugs*) and so as a Miqo'te I would already have decent ACC, so I could throw a few points in STR MND and INT.

As long as they don't fall into the Diablo II syndrome of "no stat variety since all builds have the same stat allocations anyway", I'll be fine.
I prefer allocating points, though I don't mind combining that with static stat gains. I like being able to personalize my character, even if there end up being better 'builds'. I definitely don't like when race factors heavily into a characters stats though. Then you end up with certain races being noticeably better or worse at jobs, and it really just ends up limiting your character. You also end up with everyone rolling the same race for specific jobs and it makes the world less interesting. I don't wanna see something like "LF1M CON or THM NO roegadyn or elezen pls", or "lalafell LNC sucks, go switch to CON".
Seems to me though that the system Yoshida has planned will work well, keeping the feeling of customization while still giving the classes a sort of "stat identity".

Allotment outside the way XIV does it now is a waste of dev time, but considering it's already there the time has already been wasted (and it's not really a hindrance either, so...). It'll be useless, but the unique butterfly snowflakes will like it I guess.
Do away with physical levels and allow allotment based on rank, as is hopefully in the works. Most players will probably put their points very similarly but also allows for adjustments based on what gear or food you have on hand as well as for solo or party play.
theres just going to be more "whaaaa!! i cant kill stuff" therads when they drop physical levels and make the jobs stats suited to that role. not more max stats pre lv50.
my guess its going to feel alot like FFXI in a fight after this happens. no biggie ill adapt.
