more inscentives to play more PVP

Im a fan of frontlines, but recently I keep on running into hour long wait times for a 20 min match. with some groups of people setting up alliances to play pvp its frustrating to try to even try to load frontlines.

I know the rewards from trading in wolf marks are good. But these load times are discouraging and make them less noteworthy as time goes by. It would be nice to see more incentives for more players to want to join frontlines. i would like to see the option to buy alexandrite, crafting materials, and minions to be bought with wolf marks. It would definitely make waiting that hour more worthwhile then a set of armor.

The long Frontline queue times is caused by an imbalance in the number of members in each GC queuing. A few weeks ago, in our Data Center, Adders had near instant queues due to lack of Adders participating. If you have noticed an increase in queue times it is likely because the players wanting to be on the winning team and those seeking faster queues switched GCs.

I think good additions to rewards would be a little bit of gil and grand company seals, surprised the seals weren't there from the start since you play for your GC.

Since there's nothing you need to use your Wolf Marks on, spend them on i70 PvP gear and turn them into GC Seals through your Supply/Provision representative. I spend mine on Coke/Potash to sell. But I agree, OP. There needs to be more things for us to buy, along with some exclusive items that can only be acquired through PvP to get more people into FL and WD.

If they could remove the rank requirement on pvp gear so you could wear them without dedicating your life to pvp, and continue to wear them even when you switch gc allegiance to one where you aren't ranked high, then that could be an incentive to play. I like some of the rank 40 weapons but that rank cap is too distant to give me any motivation. The GC glamor sets from hunting can be obtained in less time.

i dont think we need incentives to do PVP.
fun PVP is the incentive.

however, the biggest problem is queue times.
in a perfect world they would abolish the GC requirement or, even better, abolish the Data Center segregation
and just make PVP worldwide. they needed to have separate Data Centers after launch due to the onslaught of
players funneled into content. but far fewer people play PVP. i cannot see why it is even necessary to keep these
roadblocks unless there is no way to have PVE content on DCs and PVP content worldwide simultaneously.

PvP is still on the crawl stage

I do not believe that the JP Data Center would want to merge with the NA/EU Data Centers and I am more to believe it would cause a problem. The culture for both areas is very different in PvP (since we only mention PvP here) and I am not talking about past issues brought up about racism or any related stereotype. Just that things are not as simple as just suggesting something and having developers do it, more focus to big pictures when you talk about such issue.

There are many things more to consider if you want to talk about merging.
The real root of the problem is the NA people do not find much reason to PvP for many reasons? I understand most western people have the ability of 'it doesnt matter and i dont care' which I think might be one of the problems when PvP is concerned?
I never made much suggestion personally to incentive threads since I believe PvP should only be rewarding PvP related items and that all other items should be to their respective things, at least until the developers feel enough time has been devoted to the activity before implementing ways to obtain currency or other things elsewhere (i.e. allied seals).

This mentality of wanting many things while doing only 1 activity of the game is present in many other PvP games. I am not accusing anyone here and sorry if I offend people. If I look through a different lens, why do the JP community still PvP so much and the NA does not?

I only have voiced that GC-only PvP be removed because it is the only suggestion with a reason that can be used in Lore since most changes would affect Lore for others who focus on it. Removing PvP gear rank requirement is also a bad idea since it is counter-productive.

People do not like to feel like their opinions were not seen? maybe!
But I recently spoke to a friend and she suggested Scholar fairies disappear when MNKs use One-ilm punch.

Said it in the last thread about this, which is still on the front page, but;

Add all Materia, or all combat Materia, to the Materia NPC in Wolves' Den Pier. Priced accordingly, that is plenty of incentive for people to do PvP; either for Gil or for a Novus. Certainly beats Spiritbinding.

The point of the game was not to 'beat' other functions of the game, am I right to say this?

Beats in terms of not mindlessly boring. Balance the cost for Wolf Seals and Spiritbinding would be the faster option, and PvP would be the fun option.

Some would say that is subjective thought and how you will answer that many more people elsewhere are still PvPing even if they are already rank 40? or they are still PvPing even if rewards are the way it is now? The developing team has yet to release much content for PvP as frontlines is less than half a year old. I can see and understand wait times are very long but is this not how most new games and new game content is managed at first but picks up later on?

Is it not fair to the developers that they have to release frontlines for example with every materia and every currency reward for people to play the content?
I am just trying to find out which level you are standing on when you judge it as mindlessly boring.

Put allied seals as a reward for PVP. Bam, queue problems are solved.

Need more than Allied Seals. Titles that take longer than two weeks to get, PvP exclusive gear, glamours, mounts etc. that'd make hardcore PvE'ers jealous. A larger selection of maps for FL and WD with different objectives. Something that'd spawn some real competition like a 10v10 GvG ( FC vs FC, whatever ). Just some things that I've seen in other games that had a moderately successful PvP playerbase.

Maybe making HIGHEND PVP Gear worthy in PVP (Carteneau) and not completely senseless would be a good start?!

Take one region which is open world PvP between FCs. Base it on Final Fantasy V, with 5 Frontline sized zones, based on the Sealed Castle portion of the game, thought taking some minor liberties with it. There would be 5 major locations to control; the Sealed Castle, the Fork Tower, the Pyramid of Moore, the Island Shrine, and the Istory Falls. As well as interiors for all these locations.

When that FC loses control of the Sealed Castle, or another FC takes back the Tablet, the weapon goes back to being Sealed and the player loses it.

A lot of issues with that concept, but it's an extremely rough plan I didn't put a great deal of thought into. Almost certainly not going to happen either, since I'm fairly sure the developers are anti-competition.

Would probably work better as another GCvGCvGC thing though, simply to allow anyone to access it (although a FC alliance system would remedy some issues of a FCvFC PvP system), which I honestly don't mind. It wouldn't mess with queue times for such a concept, since its open world, though people moving to the winning side would still be an issue, but I honestly like the GCvGCvGC aspect of Frontlines, even though it impacts queues. I like seeing the same people over and over and the minor RP aspects of fighting for a GC, rather than a randomly assigned colour.

the question is for what should i do PVP?

For Fun of course.. but equipment is also one HUGE key element.

Deactivating PVP gear stats for PVP content is completely illogical.


It is like if you would deactivate highend PVM gear for boss fights.. why you should go for coil runs if the equipment in there would be completely useless?
PVP players should be able to progress as much as PVM players do. If they dont... queueing up for pvp is quiet senesless. you cant progress.


i could also imagine some special pvp skills that have to be unlocked.. i originally come from DAOC and pvp skills progression was a HUGE factor in PVP, too. Unfortunatley Yoshi P. cut it out. And everyone has the same skills from the start.

There are some good suggestions by other posters. I only suggest the allied seals since it is the quickest fix.

Everyone wants more maps, game-types, actually being able to play with friends etc...

That won't come until another patch is devoted to PVP again. So...please look forward to it? Because a new PVP patch probably won't come for a good long while.
