Information on 2.38 personal housing?

Is there going to be any information on 2.38 personal housing released prior to the patch? It'd be really nice to have an idea of what this is going to be like before the servers go down, so we can plan accordingly. i.e. how much it's going to cost, whether or not there will be any type of permissions or anything for other people? (i.e. living with a friend/significant other, making it so either person can place/move furniture etc)

Are there going to be different size houses? Is it going to be similar to the current FC housing setup?

Agreed! Is it going to be a crapshoot on getting in a housing instance so you can neighbor with friends? Can I take over Eldonia's house and evict him and bring in the pool boy? I need more info!! :p

Mainly I want to know:
*Rough pricing (I want my barbie mansion)
*Can I ensure my friends will be able to neighbor with me? (insance ID's maybe?)
*Permissions (I'm an Eorzean interior decorator, I'm in demand - my business is at stake)
*Can I make everything pink?

Most of those are serious questions I spose.

The lack of info on personal housing is killing me. Can I set-up next to my friends? Do I need to phone in sick to work to grab an instance because there's 0 chance of me getting next Tuesday off legit next week? Is it the same deal with FC housing, zones with a limit, different sized houses?!?! LET US KNOW FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LET US KNOW

I must agree the lack of information is more than annoying.
Myself included would like to know if their will be neighbourhoods, will an FC have the chance of owning a neighbourhood so all in FC can buy a house there.
Or will it just be instanced like in XI
Is it first come first serve like FC houses were.

It would seem as if the neighborhood question is what we want to know most. Can i sit on my front porch and yell at kids to get off my property (current FC neighborhood set up)? or will i be set up somewhere like the hermits hole and be alone?

Will there be any ties or benefits to the FC house? And of course will we be able to realistically plan out owning a whole corner of a ward with you and your buddies?

To have the option to have a house next to friends is brilliant, just hope it happens, hate to be scattered all over wards and placed next to strangers. As it is our FC house is next to someone who keeps using our lawn as a party pad

I think at best, personal housing will be a singular instance you can buy, and when you enter you'll be outside your front lawn. Because I imagine SE would want to use personal housing as a way of giving people who aren't in an FC (or aren't in a high enough ranked FC, or who are in an FC but can't get a house because all the wards are full) a chance to have their own place, to be able to decorate their own house, to be able to raise chocobos and garden and do whatever other new features are introduced as part of the housing system.

At worst, they'll just introduce a lot more wards, and players will just have the option to buy land (be it small, medium or large) for themselves. Which means it'll be another land rush, all the wards will fill up within a week because of course there won't be enough for every player, which means that most likely the only people that will have their own house are the 1.0 players, the people who have specifically been saving for personal housing months, and whoever happens to manage to log in first that Tuesday morning. Probably about 20% of the population, give or take. And then SE will get a brand new wave of complaints from people who didn't manage to get into the exclusive cool kids club.

Just to clarify (and not get too far off topic) all of my gil I had from 1.0 got a zero shaved off it during the reboot. So my cool mil I had, was 100k when I logged in. I've since then been playing A YEAR to rebuild my wealth. Same amount of time the rest of the population has had. Don't hate please, this is by far the best gaming community on the planet, we don't need snarky remarks just cause we we're early adopters.

lol seriously. I don't understand why people think all 1.0 players are automatically loaded.

But anyway, yeah, I hope we can get some type of dev confirmation on at least SOOOOME of this information.

I would also love to know some more about Personal Housing, such as price, personal gardens, placement, if there is extra storage inside.

I think this needs to be addressed, because

#1. we don't know the prices of things, say we want to save or sell stuff in AH to get enough for housing prices
#2. the zoning and how will this affect FC housing also, since now not only that we have personal rooms but also will we able to sell
#3. Reselling housing and become a house flipper
#4. Why keeping us in the dark about this shit, this is why people left FFXI because who the hell knows that we have to deal with this whole I'm in the dark shit.

Q: I have enough gil to purchase land, but there aren't enough open spaces. When are you planning to add more land? Also, is there any information you can reveal about personal housing?

A: Kasuga: At the moment all I can say is that we are looking into it, but we're at the point where Yoshida will make a judgment call.

Yoshida: First, we'll be adding land in patch 2.38, and it will then be possible to purchase personal housing, but the issue of how many plots to add will be under discussion until right up to the last minute. Just the other night we had a meeting which included Kasuga about even more additional plots and what kind of plans they have in order to accommodate them. At the same time we've been looking into whether we can increase the number of plots by juggling our graphic resources. Currently, we're working out all the parameters and then we'll be deciding how to do it and at what time based on the results.

Kasuga: The quick answer as to why it's not so simple to add more land is because of the infrastructure. Compared to our initial plans for infrastructure, the current demand for land has far exceeded what was predicted, and in the event that we decide to go forward with the current infrastructure, we would have no choice but to address the issue with software. And if we were to rely on a software solution, it would be difficult to secure the time required to test everything out, further delaying the release of new land.

Yoshida: Of the ideas we have at the moment, we are trying to make the final decision as to which solution is the quickest and would allow for the most land, as well considering the amount of time and resources it will take. Of course there have been those who have suggested spending millions to enhance the servers, but this would be the last resort for our engineers. We're currently looking into exactly how much we can increase the amount of land with our current resources and we'll be doing this right up to the last minute. If it appears that all other avenues have been exhausted, then I'll make the call to beef up the servers. At the very least, we will be increasing land in patch 2.38 and you'll also be able to start purchasing private housing.

I really wish they would have learned from the FC housing thing and either switched to an single-instance-per-house setup entirely, or offered that as an option (ideally with spaces for multiple buildings, but meh).
The neighborhood concept lost a lot of its shine when it became apparent that the house interiors were separate instances from the exteriors, and then completely went out the window when inactivity timers were brought up as a means to clear up plots. :-/

who cares if the inside is a separate instance, only thing i could think of the would benefit anyone otherwise would be if you could open a window and look outside. Like skyrims houses, which would be cool but if what you suggest happens then no block parties?!?!?! nope nope nope.

I would love maybe smaller wards where everyone can get to know eachother. Otherwise, I feel like it's gonna be a barren neighborhood like it is now in the FC wards, which will also become even more empty with personal housing wards.

I also like the FFXI Mog House type housing idea, assuming we get to garden inside lol. It could be small/medium/large like it is now too. Would be more convenient to have people just talk to an NPC to enter your house instead of having them travel there.

I'm ok with both ideas as both have their pros and cons but we need info now to plan accordingly.

inb4 Mog Station subscription fee required for personal housing (similar to extra Retainers). <_<

All I wanna know is if I will be able to share a house with my boyfriend/in-game partner (since the marriage system is coming out too I think?).

I won't see a reason in getting one if it's just a bigger private chamber with gardening.

Yeah, I'm with you. I don't want a repeat of WildStar. I'm not even going to consider buying a house until I know I can share it with my gf. Though, now I'm curious about whether or not I will be able to share a FC room with her when we get married...
