Rumination in high-end rotations

Hi, I am still gearing up the crafters and getting all the recommended cross-class abilities, and have been reading the recommended rotations for the items for artisans spectacles, etc.

The ones I have seen don't use rumination, and I suppose there are good reasons for that.

I wondered if it wouldn't be an option to, after having the desired quality, doing rumination to get some cp before the final synthesis moves. Once the quality is there, you don't need the inner quiet effect and you'll get cp you might need.

If you use Rum, you cannot use Byregot's and visa versa, as both skills use up your IQ stacks.

Byregot's is by far the superior skill.

Ah, that was it, thanks! I have just obtained Byregot's, had to dc to go out and never used it yet. The descripition does not say it resets the IQ stacks, but it's logical it does so you can't use it twice with the bonus.

Rumination is handy before you have Byregot's Blessing. Technically you could use Rumination for synthing things that aren't HQ-able. But, CP isn't usually an issue in those cases.

in the original post, it says "once the quality is there", so unless you want to try for +100% byregots blessing is useless.

He means using Rum after Byregot's...

Rumination caps at 60 CP gained, you're looking at 56 CP used for a GS BB (assuming an ingenuity I/II you'll be using anyway)

That 116 CP difference will give you as much quality as all your previous touches combined, that you've spent over 300 CP building up plus durability loss.

When I wrote the post I was working towards getting Byregot's Blessing. When you don't have Byregot's, Rumination is very useful at the end of the craft, so I wondered why people don't recommend it, not noticing that both abilities can't be used one after the other.

I do get what you were asking and completely understand why you'd think you could use Rum after BB, having not used it before. ^^

Rum could still be used I guess, along with Reclaim, if you *had* to HQ a tough craft and had a bad run of hasty touches, just use Rum - Reclaim and hope the 90% chance to returns mats worked...

Not something I'd recommend at the moment, but one day could be useful.

Well, if you had a bad run of Hasty Touches, chances are that Rumination won't return enough CP to afford Reclaim anyway. :( Even in the odd instances where it does provide enough, I'd say that situation is rare enough that justifying Rumination's place in your limited number of cross-class skills would be a tough sell.

If you've had that many Hasty Fails, you'd know to use Reclaim long before you dropped below the CP needed to use Reclaim.

Like I said, not something that I think is useful *now*, but if we ever get some hard / important to HQ crafts, it could be.

Current crafts are too easy to bother using it.

I know I'm at that point when I still have enough for Great Strides, Ingenuity II, and Byregot's Blessing, which is more than enough for Reclaim.
