Okay, so
A party member has withdrawn from the duty.
Finding new member.
there should be some

sort of system that counts the amount

of times that a person withdraws from a specific queue, and after reaching

Like, if you withdraw 3 times in less than

10 minutes, you get a 24 hour lock-out from anything in the DF.

Maybe not 24h, but the same 30 min penalty as if they left would be good, except if they are on a cutscene or something, then it would be harsh.

This topic is beating a dead horse, it's been one of the most discussed topics since I can remember. I'm fairly certain we haven't had an official response from SE on it yet, though.

That being said, a 24-hour lockout from everything on DF is laughable and makes it seem like you're just speaking out of anger, not with your head. I hope you aren't actually serious.

At most, I think a 2 hour lockout from that specific dungeon would be sufficient.

24-hour is definitely excessive, but I'd definitely like to see some kind of punishment for these people.
I have met tanks who say they do it for fun. Just queue for a popular dungeon for an instant queue, then withdraw. Rinse and repeat. Total d*ckheads.

30-60 minute penalty sounds appropriate to me. Not just that dungeon though, as Winter Solstice suggested.
That'd give them free reign to just do it to another one.

Lockout from EVERYTHING!

They should do what Rift does. If you queue and withdraw 8 times consecutively, you instantly get the same penalty as leaving a dungeon.

I don't think its the same person though? I mean if its gathering from a huge pool and 10 different people withdraw say from ST it would do no good to punish since it wouldn't even be the same person doing it and this would just happen anyways right ?

Dependent on the role it could be the same person (a healer or tank fishing for an in progress group for instance).

I would have no issue applying the same 30 minute penalty to constant withdrawals (perhaps 3) but a full day is laughable. Half an hour would discourage people from fishing, or at least limit it, especially given that the dungeon can be run in about 30 minutes.

I doubt that same person could withdraw for 3 or more times within 10 minutes but if someone truly is THAT much retarded then could just set the same 30 min penalty as for leaving already started dungeon.

There was. It was wayyyy back last year, around September or October, in regards to people fishing for in-progress AK runs for there Philosophy Tome farming. Unfortunately, the Dev Tracker only seems only goes to the last 400 posts, and the general forums go back almost 1000 pages, so I can't find it to link, but it was something along the lines of "not limiting the ability to queue and drop from queue in order to find a specific instance to help out your friends."

I don't see why they just don't let us join the instance and let the party build up inside the sealed circle

You'll be surprised. There definitely does need to be SOME penalty though because why even withdraw in the first place?

Mind you I sat 30mins in the queue and had people withdraw roughly once every minute.

That's 23 people who had to wait 30 minutes.

What if I withdrew the first time because I had to run afk. Then the second time because my internet DC me. And then I spilt my drink on my keyboard. 24 hours is just dumb. Make a pf. OP's idea is terrible. Why not just a 5 minute lockout ?

Because you have to consider circumstances. The world isn't black and white, there is a lot of gray that has to be accommodated. Having a totalitarian mindset like that is never good.

I'm sorry that you feel slighted, but shit happens. I'm absolutely sure that you had to wait in your queue for so long due to princess tanks wanted to be spoon-fed the easiest chance of getting their weekly oil, but you can't set up a system with the express purpose of banning the shit out of them for a day without affecting others.

Which others? No one other than progress fishers have any reason to withdraw 3 times in 10 minutes.

Nah, if youre withdrawing from dungeons that much you deserve a lockout, a nice long lockout at that to make you think twice about doing it. Specially if its done 3 times within 10 minutes. By then youre obviously just being a selfish a-hole screwing others over to suit your own ends and giving nothing in return. IMO it shouldnt even be just within 10 minutes, only tanks or healers would ever even reach that timer. For dropping queue I say 5 hours.

Add a penalty for dropping a dungeon too. Dropping from a dungeon more than 3-5 consecutive times without finishing at least one should result in a lock out. In cases like those id even go as far as give them more than 24 hours. Or maybe start at 24 hours for the first offense then increase it after that.

It's not black and why but be honest - How likely is it people SPAMMING withdraw are doing so because they need to afk or got disconnected? Be honest.

There should be a 1 min lock out everytime you hit withdraw.

If you aren't ready to hit the queue, You shouldn't be queueing up.

Also this is coming from someone that was doing this to try and hit the queue with my wife and it worked about 40% of the time. But now we don't do anything but High and expert which we can queue together. and trials, which we still hit the same one about 10% of the time.

i agree with the 30 mins and it should be 3 times within 5 mins (thats counting full times of 45 seconds including the requeing) 10 mins sounds like a wide window,

the 30 mins duty finder is the standard thing and that gives people with a busy real life time to deal with some things (if they accidentally get it but due to it being aimed more at queue POP and waiting then immediate dequeuing
that way those who purposely time it out and dequeue will get punished

This would cause heavy server stress. Imagine every single withdraw creating new instances every time. :(

Anyway, the best way I can see them implement a penalty is that if you manually press withdraw, you get a one minute penalty that increases by one minute every time you do it up to a maximum of 15 minutes. Maybe this can also apply if you don't press anything and let the timer run out. It's not like a person who isn't intentionally trolling (like being afk for a bit to answer the phone or etc.) would get penalized by this since at most, they'll get a one to three minute penalty. The penalty counter could possibly be reset once you finish any duty.

The only way to withdraw 3 times in quick succession is to immediately re-queue at least the first two of those times. They can't re-queue if they're genuinely busy (like in a cutscene).

One withdrawal could be accidental by just hitting the wrong key (which is easy enough to do if you were in the midst of something else when the DF popup appeared and stole keyboard focus). I could even see two accidental withdrawals happening occasionally. But if someone withdraws three times in a row, then they've declared their unwillingness to actually run a dungeon now. They shouldn't be allowed to keep re-queuing for something they're not willing to run.

But yeah, the standard 30 minute lockout like you get when Leaving is the appropriate response if SE decides to add this (which I wish they would).

How about they just... make the DF like every other dungeon matching system everywhere else - you get filtered into the dungeon you get filtered into, you don't see how many bosses are done, you don't get the option of a "full" random run, and that's the end of it. Blizzard had this option once, and took it out almost immediately because of this very conversation we're having now. It just doesn't work, and isn't worth it. A random roulette should be just that: completely random. Sometimes it's a fresh run, sometimes it's not. Sometimes it's Tam Tara, sometimes it's Dzaemal Darkhold. You want a full, fresh run guaranteed? Queue the individual instance and wait until your place in line filters other players in.

It would put an end to ALL of this.
