I've never seen people this riled up about summoners. Nobody ever cares (or uses) them usually.
Egis are cute. Pet 'em.
Sure growing bigger would be cool, but I'd honestly prefer if they made the egi look at least like its primal.
Example being make titan take on the browner appearance of the titan ex adds, least they actualy look like titan
The answer is no
People asked. They answered. Why double back for such a minor change? When they have more important matters to attend to? I refuse to believe you are not a rational person.
You the bad thing about Spiritmaster? Everyone, their mothers, grandparents, and their dogs are out to kill you. All you want to do it be a tamer, but you might as well have a target painted right on your face.Quote:
Just looking at that picture makes me want to leave ff14 and go to Aion, it looks more like a primal than any egi we got.
Aside: I never cared for *any* lore in Aion so I have no idea how Spiritmasters tame and control their pets. Except that they are the same flavour as FFXIV Summoner. DoT class. Pet sidekick. No pet = bad dps.
One can hope, but it doesn't seem likely. Should the day ever come though I'll be pleasantly surprised. In all honestly, I love the lore behind Summoner and actually like that our Egis differ in appearance than the Primals. I think aesthetically it would be worse to see miniature Ifrits and Titans floating around.
With that said, however, I think Summoner is in desperate need of some... pizzazz. It bothers me that you can differentiate a high level Black Mage or White Mage due to the flashiness or impact of their spells, yet, there is little to discern a high level Summoner from one who just unlocked their Ifrit-Egi. I feel as though once our power grows, we should be able to control a more formidable looking pet.
Dream big!
There is no crazy lore behind Spiritmasters on AION. It's your generic "they tap into the aether and summon forth manifestations of the elements to aid them in battle". On top of that, I don't think I ever saw anyone use anything other than the Earth pet so they could Spirit Substitution and laugh at you. Almost the same as everyone using Garuda here.
NcSoft buffed SM. You used to see Fire Spirit, and Wind Spirit. But they gave pet run speed, so now Earth pet runs as fast as Wind used to. You basically have be to pants-on-head retarded not to have Earth Spirit out 100% of the time. Not to mention the 20s Spirit Sub with a 3m CD. Incentive NOT to use other pets.
NcSoft is best company. SM is fair and balanced.
The problem with the Summoner in Final Fantasy XIV is the same with the class/job system in general they are not creative and they are oversimplified and boring because they designed them around the average player skill instead of the potential of the class/job which causes people to either play this game as their secondary mmo just for raiding or quit all together and play some other MMO that has more complexity ie Elder Scrolls Online and Warframe cause they are fun.
Elder Scrolls Online all skilles evolve based on use and the Pet evolves separately from the player based on how often players use their summon.
Ah, about time. I guess you couldn't resist a +1 on the DPS forums after that signature OP you left in the General section. By the way, I have a coworker who played Elder Scrolls and he said that you are capped at 5 abilities/skills you can during battle. How is ARR oversimplified when compared to this?
That last part of your sentence doesn't add up for me... also improving on what you already have is just as important as adding more to what you have, although I'm aware as to why they want more content right now.
I don't know a thing about Aion either, but just based on that evolution system for the pets, their pet system is already leagues better than ours, oh trust me, the flavour is NOT the same, at all.
So what if everybody wants to kill me, I'll put up with ANYTHING for a class with amazing design.
While there is certainly a great resistance when a dev/rep posts against an idea, it is not a guarantee for all time. As has been proven in the past.
There are many pet classes in mmos and I find the current egis to be the disappointing ones of the bunch (visually), even if ARR in general has superior graphics and aesthetics.
I loved playing SMN due to its visuals in XI. Even though 99% Didn't want it in their PT(Pre AB-scrubs) And it was a rare sight to see someone with the class @ Lv 75(Just with BST)
Once i had my Early access i logged it, created a char -> Arcanist, i was ecstatic to be playing a SMN class again on Final Fantasy, How ever i soon realized after unlocking SMN how ugly the EGI's were. And beyond that how we turned into a dot class.
But lets not talk about that now, The fact that the EGIs in my opinion are now (Visualy) Just ugly as hell i mean, a floating body with a (Geni) like bottom?
One of the reasons why my SMN is 50 and i switched to other classes and never looked back.
Just looking at the differences of the summoner pets between XI and XIV, they reeeeally made XIV summoner look like they're summoning those elemental pets <-,<- Even then, I think FFXI's elemental pets looked better than the Egi ones of XIV. Sad.
Very very sad.
It would be like giving Dragoon a wyvern quest at level 50, and the wyvern looks like a 16-bit green bat from the SNES.
How they look right now is insulting to summoners. I'm hoping that they either get a rework or change their appearance as the level cap increases. Perhaps this is the "egi" line, and once the level cap increases there will be a higher tier group.
