Important enough to keep it at a higher spot on my hotbar?
I've been using Foresight on my PLD for ages and, well, I couldn't even tell you. I usually throw it out at the same time as Bulwark to make them add up to something useful, but by itself, I've never really noticed a difference.
20% increase on physical defense. Now if it is 20% of your current defense or a set number? I don't know know. I have noticed that if you do use it your defense on your attribute tabs does increase. I just never bothered with doing the math. I vaguely remember my defense jumping from like 646 to around 850
It's something that get's better as your defense goes up. I imagine with time it might be possible for Foresight to negate more physical damage than Rampart once our gear levels get high enough, assuming there isn't some residual cap set beyond what is possible to obtain at this point.
Yes. Still good to use, if for no other reason than because all your other CDs are down. It's a pretty weak CD all alone, typically will use it in combination of another weaker CD like Featherfoot, Awareness, Bloodbath, etc. As far as how high on your list, I guess it depends how many low level dungeons you do. I have Stoneskin first (since CNJ doesn't get it until 34), Bloodbath, Foresight, Fracture, Mercy Stroke on PLD.
It's based on current defense and stacks with the Def boost from Protect.
i still use it, even though it doesnt really negate too much, it is enough to help the healers keep up. on ifrit ex, foresight on its own drops damage by several hundred, like i said, not a big amount, but a drop from 700 to about 450 per hit, really helps out with the healers.
Any mitigation at all is worth having.
Except maybe Awareness...
Lol, speakingof awareness...I use it with both Sentinel and Foresight, a little help never hurt. Awareness by itself though...nopenopenope

Mitigation (Foresight) and VIT are great when you're progressing through content, getting comfortable with your party, and mastering your role.
Offense (other aggressive cooldowns) and STR are great when you're pushing your group's abilities and challenging each other to get better and faster.
Foresight's effective damage reduction is miniscule, so swapping it out once you're done learning encounters won't be noticed.
I dunno Turn 6 when you have physical vulnerability stacks, its pretty good.....
I dunno Turn 7 when OTing adds and mitigation needed, sure does help
I dunno Turn 8 starting to see the point?? a pure mitigation ability is something you should never skip on
Foresight is good to have but you wont miss it when it gone. (by it self foresight is not that good, most of the time I use it with other CD. )
the problem is as a PLD, you don't really have much choice for end game cross class.
last time I check ( a few month ago), Foresight mitigate around 5-8% of damage. the number prolly change by now
Well, I understand the OP is a pld, but as far as WAR goes its got a good duration and a short recast. Use it, because cumulatively it is fantastic.
For war yes, it has better(I use the term lightly)use, but for war it is not a CC skill. If you use it on PLD don't use it as a stand alone, combo it with something for that little extra boost in mitigation.
It amounts to a roughly 5-7% damage reduction overall. For reference, Rampart is 20% and IB is 30%. So it's small but with a short CD feel free to keep it on CD if you'd like. It does make a difference.
I thought inner beast was 20% damage reduction and vengeance is 30% damage reductio?
One of the experts can correct me on this but Cd's that lowers damage taken is far better than Cd's that raises physical or magic defense
Yes IB=20% reduction, Vengeance=30%, can also get up Storms Path for another 10%...and you can pop offensive CD's while doing it to pump moar damage and get bigger self heals...lol. This PLD is enjoying playing WAR.
Definitely worth using. I stack it with Rampart or convalescence.
I use it 3 times in T9. First beak, I solo pop it right after the first heaven's fall and then pop Conva as the ghost appears so they over lap for 10ish seconds. I then stack it with Rampart for the 3rd Claw.
It makes good abilities better.
If you plan on tanking T9 any time, foresight is part of the CD rotation for Ravensbeak. If healer misses a stone skin, Foresight is usually the difference between 200hp and death.
