Crafting *WORKSHOP STORAGE*

So I'm sure there are many players out there buzzed out by small character storage; having to store mats and gear onto multiple retainers.

As a craft, you would want all the mats you have at the tip of your fingertips; instead of having to sort through a maze through your retainers.

So I have a few ideas to 'fix' this.

1. Have an option to access every item stored within your retainers while you are near a bell. So when you want to craft, instead of having to draw out mats every time; as long as you are near a bell you will have instant access while crafting.
a. Maybe implement it as a option to recall all retainers from selling at mb until you are finished with your crafts.

2. Housing/Private Rooms
a. This one is quite simple. Just make a crafting workshop within your room or house (good for personal housing). Then you can store; say up to 1000 units. Crafting within the workshop will give you instant access while crafting.

Or anything that can improve the current situation is great.

We definitely need something. Storage rapidly becomes a huge problem when the game allows us to be all crafting/gathering classes and does not just limit us to one or two. We also can't create pack-mule alts, since there is no easy way to transfer items to other characters.

I'd ask SE to allow us to craft some sort of personal storage locker for our personal rooms or personal housing (when it is made available), but I'm afraid it would turn into some ridiculous 3 star crafting recipe that required ultra-rare materials and ended up being sold on the market for over a million gil and thus wouldn't be accessible to everyone. That, or they'd just charge $4/month for it. Server storage costs, and all (even though I played MMOs a decade ago that offered more storage than this game by default and for free, and physical storage costs have only gone down since then).

To be honest, I personally wouldn't mind a monthly add-on service for something like.

Going by that idea, I just came up with a new idea.

3. Personal Workshop
a. Much like Cid's workshop. You can buy/hire (hence the monthly fee) a instanced workshop where you can store mats in major cities.

Idea 1. isn't really practical, but 2/3 could work really well.

We're not looking for ways to get rid of the stuff, but better storage for it. It will all be necessary in the course of leveling all the crafting skills. Why would we sell it all just to have to go gather it again?

2. Give us an option to avoid making a HQ item if we don't want it.
3. Find out a way to let us stack HQ items along with NQ items.
4. Let us keep track of what's in our retainers inventories outside of bell locations.

Ya GW2 crafting storage is certain a very useful system for crafting. Adding a similar system into FF14 will certainly help keep mats we may need for future use.

In my current state, all my crafts are LVL20+ as I am trying to keep my craft levels similar to each other so I can share the gear I make for them. But there is one major issue with this; which is having to carry every material I need so I can craft at any time I want. This keeps my inventory space at 95% capacity at most times.

Then I go to hunt more and new mats, filling up my inventory more and then resulting into storing said mats into retainers... TP'ing back and forth from field to retainers can get quite expensive too.

How about this (and I completely agree with the storage problem when it comes to crafting/harvesting) - have an inventory completely dedicated to harvested items/crafting mats. Other mmorpgs have this feature - FFXIV ARR should not be an exception to the rule. The inventory is a part of your character's "bag". If the shards/crystals/clusters have their neat little space, why leave the harvested items/crafting mats out of the loop? Then that leaves having to deal with the retainers out of the picture. However, the retainers should also have this feature since they, too, have a shard/crystal/cluster inventory

I think that the character inventory is big enough as it is.
Retainers on the other hand ... Not enough room!!!

I like the idea of making a storage box (preferably with 9999 slots :D) for housing !

It's funny, I was playing a game called EQ2. In that one, your character had 8 inventory slots. Each inventory slot could hold a bag or box that you could open and close. It gave you more inventory. The best boxes (if I remember right) added 100 slots. If you had 8 boxes, that meant you had 800 inventory slots. This did not count the other couple hundred bank storage slots you had. This was waaaaaaay back in the FFXI era if not before. It's just fishy that SE seems to claim that this data is too much memory when a game that is 10+ years old supported 1000+ inventory slots.

How about being able to mail stuff to your alts on the same server?

It would be an incentive for some to purchase the standard sub that lets us have 8 characters per server (more money for SE, they like money right?). Biggest drawback would be people hoarding stuff that they could sell on the market, which I don't really see being a huge problem since people generally sell their junk that crafters need to make stuff anyway.

It wasn't really a problem in FFXI (yeah bringing up XI), people made "mules" because of limited inventory space even after upgrading their gobbiebags. Hell, I eventually made a mule in XI because of limited inventory and mog house space. The addition of rare/ex being sendable to characters on the same account was a godsend, didn't need to throw my Joyeuse and some other gear away when they became obsolete.

Along the same topic, it would be lovely to have a 'Add all' feature. Which if you have never played Terraria or another game that uses it basically:

'Hit 'Add all button on retainer'
'Every item in your inventory that is ALSO in your retainers inventory automatically stacks into your retainer'

At the moment, I make sure my retainer is completely full - so I can run through my inventory clicking everything and seeing if it moves to retainer or if I get a 'insufficient inventory space' message.

What it boils down to is this: The inventory/storage mechanics in this game is some of the worst I've ever seen for a MMO. I would love to say I'm exaggerating, but I'm really not (well sort of but meh.) It's hard to keep track of what you have and what you don't have between 3 gathering classes and 8 crafting classes, it starts to turn into a real cluster F as to where I put what and what goes where, no search in your inventory is also a big drag, if they added a search it would make life so much easier, instead of highlighting each mat to see what it is. They really need to look into this, some serious QoL issues going on here. Well, for crafters / gatherers atleast...

So much WANT for a GW2 mat storage system. Like, oh my god, that would be so amazing!

Even better, how about building something like that into the current Apparatuses so they would treat said mat storage system as being a part of your current inventory whilst crafting? That would dramatically raise their usage where they are presently not used at all. Then we can have characters actually CRAFT at the apparatuses instead of just hitting it for a buff, and to top it all off, some "Elite" Apparatuses that grant CP/Control buffs to their respective DoH class when used?

Oh, all of the QoL things that would make crafting so much more fun and so much less tedious~!

To recap:

-Special Materials storage that has a designated slot for every single unusable material in the game (No consumable food items that can be used as ingredients, no weapons/armor that can be upgraded, etc.)

-Improve Apparatuses so that they have the following perks:
--Full access to Special Materials Storage as if it were a part of player's inventory.
--Special animations that allow players to craft at the Apparatus instead of simply granting the buff.
--Impose restriction so only the right DoH class can use their respective apparatus.

-"Elite" Apparatus that grants CP/Control buffs to all players who use it (Level scaling the buff), adding in the above suggestions.

All of this stuff would be just wonderful!

I like this idea. I do have a difficult time sorting out mats and such in regards to certain crafts. Going back to your retainer is a pain and such. I hope in the future SE decides to implement a carry on storage specifically for craft materials or specific items that you want to save.

I would definitely like the idea of perhaps minions having an ability to have a storage in place of them. Like right clicking a specific minion and selecting to "Open Storage," thus storing the items after.

I'm thinking similar to the MMO Aion, where some minions are capable of storage space, enemy alertness, creating foods and such.

If there is a service fee, I do not mind that all. As long we have a "carry on" bag or portable storage. Definitely would help on our adventures.

Guild Wars 2 has a very organized exclusive crafting material inventory. They have their own space. Wish we have something similar to this.

There is search. From your crafting log right click/context menu on the mat you are searching for and do search for item. It will spam you retainer name, page and amount of nq and hq of the item you have.

What I would like to see is stick with the lore. The lore claims that retainers are meant to follow you around the town. So in town that storage should ba accessible anywhere not just at the bell.

Gawd yes! Anything that makes it more manageable! I've only just started crafting and I'm brimming with mats for everything.

As stupid as it sounds, I don't level my crafting jobs because of how cluttered the inventory / armory gets :(

Exactly this!

I was skeptical in starting to craft at first cos of this reason. Then when I did start, I completely gave up playing DoW's until I felt satisfied with crafting.

Infinite workshop storage like the Atelier series will be good.

I have four retainers filled because I'm a pack rat xD the search function helps me a lot. But omg is it annoying to have to go through my retainers. And to the person who said this is the worst inventory system they've seen. I'm 100% with you. Even old ass MMOs have way better systems. I would cry with joy if they at least added a "sort all.retainers function "

No workshop, no life!

It's a great idea to improve storage and access to crafting materials. SE has added pay for storage with the 2 additional retainers so they would unlikely be interested in a solution that undercuts that business case.

I'd suggest a Workshop. Make it similar to private rooms (those nifty Tardis-like extensions to your FC housing).

• Accessible to anyone in the FC. Can assign access through member settings.
• While in the Workshop, your crafting will automatically access all storage and draw in priority order from personal -> retainer -> FC chest (with option to turn access on and off through member settings).
• To make material access complete, you can optionally place a (crafted) market board in the Workshop.
• The "door" to the workshop should be placeable. Cottage houses suffer from a lack of wall space. Even the door to the private rooms creates furniture placement issues. While we're at it, make the door to the private rooms space placeable also.

The Workshop would be a great space to place the Summoning Bell, NPC vendors, FC chest, crafting workbenches, etc.
