Decided to try the hunts feature during the free week, grabbed all my marks, ran to the weekly hunt area, walked around the area...then I realized, I just have to wait for it to spawn and hope I get there for the kill.
There's no such "hunt" involved. I just...hope I'm in the area when the enemy spawns?
Even some of the basic hunts is "be in this area when this FATE starts" and hope I get in on the kill in time, or whatever.
Really? This is the hunting feature? I mean, I suppose if you enjoyed NM camping in FFXI than you may enjoy hunts but...really? Am I missing something? There's no hunting involved it's just sit and wait, or run around until it spawns. Either way, hope I get lucky and get in on the kill as it spawns. I don't get it. The rewards are so damn good that it feels like this is what I should be doing anyways.
Hunts don't really feel like...hunting.

They were not working as intended and the developers acknowledged this far before they fixed them. Are you really crying over the dismissal of a broken system? Get over it. -

Somebody would find it, we would call out a time to pull it, and everyone would go riding over and get ready. You always got full credit, and because you had so many people in so many zones, you were nearly always fighting something.Quote:

I don't have any constructive criticism, but I do know that the hunt wasn't made the best it could be, I also know it can still be fixed, or at the most, reworked into a more suitable system. I can see how depressed the devs could get seeing all this negativity on their system that they tried because of player feedback, at least help them try to make it better. Honestly if this keeps up I could see the devs never taking feedback again, (I'm sure they always will though, I could just see why they wouldn't)

I have to admit, I was pretty disappointed with how "hunts" were handled.
I thought that it'd actually involve tracking down enemies and fighting them.
You know, get a party of 4-8, search for clues in the world. Footprints, broken branches that indicate a fight, dead animals, talking to frightened locals who saw the monster.
Engaging things like that.
Hell, S rank spawns could require a group of 8 to track clues through multiple zones.
Might start the hunt from a tip that a random NPC gave you, track footprints through the Black Shroud, find dead animals littered around Coerthas and finally hunt down the monster in a cave at Mor Dhona.
The possibilities are endless.
Instead, it's just either
A) Run around looking for your weekly B mark
Or
B) Join a party that zergs down A and S rank marks
No fun involved, just zergs.
I still hold hope that my dream of Hunts will someday be implemented. -

Weekly hunts spawn after 5 seconds when they get killed. You don't have to wait for anything - you just have to find it. Also there is no reason for other people to kill your weekly because they don't drop anything unless you have the mark. -

The whole thing caused so many arguments, fights and vitriol on the servers it was insane. It turned what was supposed to be a social game into an all out war at times between players.
SE is great at taking good ideas (esp from other games) and then ruining them with their own twist and implementation.
GW2 had Vista's, which were a lot of fun.... spots you find your way to and look around for a view and get progress towards achievements. SE takes it, calls it Sight Seeing, but ties it into time... and weather... making it yet another, shitty, massive grind. Sure they just added "weathermen" now to help with it... but why include the weather and narrow time window in the first place? Ah, right, because they cant let it be easy.... or fun.
Some days I just dont know where the game I loved at launch has gone, but SE is taking this train somewhere pretty messed up lately imho. -

Actually it is hunting. You get your mark and go out into a region and look for it, kill it and get rewarded. It may not be what you expect but it is within the mechanics of FFXIV. Its not a hunting simulator. Its the basics. B marks spawn every 5 seconds so it's there you just havent found it. Also you're using the term hunting too literally. When someone says they are camping a monster you don't picture them with a tent around a campfire. They are just standing there.

So you've offered criticism, but nothing constructive. What is your idea of a "hunt?" You had mentioned tracking. Are you suggesting that a player run across some footprints and then follow them to the next clue and eventually 5 clues down the road they find the mob? Are you suggesting some riddles that have to be solved before the thing can pop? What are you suggesting that might be better than how it's implemented now?
Seriously if you're going to offer criticism then at least offer a suggestion as "How it could be better" not just, "it sucks." -

I like how hunts are. granted we do it as event for the FC so all member can grab seals and just 1 day a week. It is fun.
Now, if we really want to end the "zerg" thing, i recommend to increase the mob damage and more AoE, mechanics like if you turn him does spike flail and kill everybody, give condition to damage the mob (hit him when he stand only or the like). That way you can the STOP zerg thing and make more interesting. Encourage people to make good groups and know what mob are you facing. The problem would be that the same minority would claim that it will be to hard for them to understand our would become a Veteran only thing, witch in my opinion should be.

Why the hunt target are so weak ? I have read the condition for spawn the S rank, it is a good idea. But the weakest of the mob made this totally useless and not fun at all. -

S-rank mobs remain 24-man difficulty
B-rank changes
* 5 second respawn timer
* Only receive rewards when mark bill is in inventory
* Can obtain 1 mark bill daily
* Reward for max participation adjusted as follows:
- 10 Allied Seals
- 3 Tomestones of Soldiery
- 7 Tomestones of Mythology
A-rank changes
* Player-triggered respawn (details below)
* Only receive rewards when mark bill is in inventory
* Can obtain 1 mark bill daily
* Reward for max participation adjusted as follows:
- 50 Allied Seals
- 5 Tomestones of Soldiery
- 15 Tomestones of Mythology
* Player can now obtain mark bill from Hunt Board at affiliated Grand Company HQ. Using the mark bill will give a hint as to mark's last known whereabouts. When you enter said area, you will need to search for a clue that points you in the right direction (tracks, disturbed ground, scratches on tree trunk, etc.). The number of clues needed to find the mark will vary between 3 and 5 along the chain. Clue locations will be completely random, as will the area where the mark appears in the end. Once you reach the end, the mark will appear with enmity on the player. Due to this, it is advisable that player be in a party prior to starting the hunt. Once the mark appears, anyone who has the mark bill in his/her inventory can engage the mark regardless of whether or not they are in a party with the player who initiated it. If a player does NOT have a mark bill for that specific mark, he/she will be unable to engage it or build enmity (similar to how maps are now). This is to limit grief tactics.
S-rank marks will not be changed from current implementation now that they have render priority.
These are just some ideas of making hunts more engaging and hunt-like without them being spawn camping v2 as seen in so many other MMOs. -

I love hunts. Free i110 gear with no work. I'm sure they're just doing this to make i110 the norm so they can roll out new gear. Pretty soon the i110 gear won't be all that great because there will be much better gear. Then all the whiners and cryers can get their gear :) I understand the people who want to give constructive criticism. That's cool and all but the people in games who insult everyone when they don't make it to the target. They're off in limsa chilling waiting on their LS to announce the target then try to get there on time. I'm sorry but if you aren't actively looking all over the map for the target you don't deserve for everyone to wait on your lazy ass. I've only not gotten full credit ONE time on an A rank while searching on the map it pops. These are free sands and oils.... what more do people want? If you don't like hunts so coil for your sands. Or look for the target like the rest of us

B-ranks work well now that they're not subject to the zerg. Since they respawn 5 seconds after they're killed, they're always somewhere in the zone. In fact hunting them is more like hunting due to the multiple spawn locations than the FATEs in the dailies. Ideally, I'd do it like this:
B-ranks work the way they currently do, but replace the FATEs on the daily hunts. That means 2 B-rank hunts per day, with a 10-seal reward.
A-ranks become the new weekly hunt. They're scaled to 8-man parties with a 5-minute respawn, and give a reward of 30 seals to the mark holder. In addition, everyone else in the mark-holder's party gets 5 seals. As a result, people would form hunting parties at the start of each week to down 8 weeklies, getting 65 seals each in total, with additional parties formed by people who didn't get there at the start of the week possibly supplementing that. This would make hunting a social activity, and a way of getting to know your server community a bit better.
S-ranks work as they do now: spawn window opens after 72 hours, followed by a hunting alliance performing the spawn trigger to make it pop, and finally downing it for up to 50 seals to everyone who participates (depending on their contribution). This'll give the zergers something productive to do, since they're actually useful for an S-rank. -

I don't see what's so hard or wrong with how they are right now get your bills first take out the fates {sure it can be a wait} but so what find out where the fate starts camp out after the fates are out of the way kill the easy mobs and your done but if you want more seals find a S and A rank link shell. The way it was before was sad a small lil B rank getting killed by 200+ ppl that was not the way hunts are supposed to work. At least now ps3 users can get seals and or ppl who don't like mass lag or rude players
