So there's going to be a NINJA class.....so who's going to tank/heal?.....

I'm almost at all 50's, so obviously i'll be playing a Ninja....and hey, it's a ninja class; everyone and their mothers will be playing one..

So how will SE entice people to play tanks and healer so the greater community can play the new sexy class in dungeons/raids?

I propose to buff the myth/soldier tomb rewards for tanks/healer, more gold, perhaps stronger XP buffs (like 10%-15% increase, after doing a roulette as a tank/healer), so they aren't wasting time filling a needed role, and getting their NIN class leveled.

Yeah, I guess queues for DPS will suck for quite a while when Rogue/Ninja are released. Good thing I already contracted my close friend to heal my Ninja to 50. Now we only need another Ninja to contract a friend of theirs to tank them to 50...

I can see a lot of "Tank/Healer available for dungeon runs, 25k per run" coming up ;)

Those ppl that like to tank/heal, will still tank/heal.
The initial Rogue Rush, will only last for a day or 3.
Most ppl will go back to their mains, after finding Rogue/Nin boring, or capping it.
Only few ppl will cap and main Nin.
Also, if you got other 50 chars already, then you don't really need to do any instances before 50 anyway, so it doesn't matter.
You can just join Atma/Alex parties, or rogue fate trains.

Or people are just going to go back to 2.0 super FATE train? After all, it'll be quick with that much dps.

This is exactly what a friend of mine and I are going to do. I'm also gonna make a killing on HQ daggers on the MB the first couple of days. Can't wait!

Exactly what im thinkin, sell daggers and gear (craft my own stuff) and profit ^_^ Since I have all 50s currently it only makes sense that ninja will be my next to level. Even got my radz-at-han quenching oil, 3x thavnairian mist, and 11/12 atma waiting.

This is what I was thinking. Even fates like Svara can be tanked by DPS, so it won't be hard to level.

I've leveled my last 2 DPS classes this way. Screw that queue, seriously. x3

I have tanks prepared to level on my alt. On my main, I have a friend leveling tank, so we'll queue together.

Hmm as much as I want to level ninja, (My characters name being "Mini Ninja" after all) this would be a perfect time to level my tank class...as much as I'm not a huge fan or it..

I'm going to love this. Its going to be a great opportunity for me to level my Healer and Tank classes. I've been wanting to get GLD and CNJ up and now I should have no troubles. Then once I get to 50 (cause I'm a slow filthy casual) I can start my Rogue/Ninja because the initial rush will be over.

Tank/Healer mercs.

Them world firsts will pay good coin to get where they want... fast. Pretty sure all dungeons have an SR factor in them somewhere that beats out fates/roulette.

Since I've got all DoW/DoM at 50, I'm gunna milk the cash cow for a bit by crafting weapons while I queue for dungeons as ROG/NIN, and if that gets boring I'll do some FATEs and whatever else is easy to do while queueing for dungeons. I won't be in any rush to grind the class to 50, I want to learn it and actually be good rather than just follow the zerg. Better to make money off the zergers and take your time to enjoy the new class imo! ^_^

My FC already agreed to help eachother, I get to level my nin first, once I'm 50 I go to tank/heal and they get to swap in as nin and I help them level to 50, we'll likely have full 4 and 8 man groups so I don't have to worry about queues as they come up :D

You have to be careful with the experience bonuses. If they reach level 50 too fast they may run off to play a different job or play the game less due to getting what they want at a faster rate than everyone else does. I'd give the tanks some more cross-class skill options or make current ones more viable (like cure or inner release). That and if paladin got some options to help expand on their solo rotation it would help stave off the boredom of using that job over long periods of time.

I have both tank classes and Conjurer to level. They're currently levels 23 (Gladiator) & 21 (Marauder and Conjurer). I figure that this will be as great a time as any to learn those roles.

So you mean to say that from lvl 1 to 50 doing Fates you cannot learn your class/job unless you go into low-level dungeons and you are not capped, maximizing all your skills capacity and learn a rotation - to be considered good? hmm...

Greater community? Ha ok anyway, if they imtroduce some new tank and healer classes in 3.0 that are exiting hopefully mpre people will play those roles

In fates I've seen people ignore aspects of their job that are important in dungeons. I'm sure you've seen it too: the monks not bothering to bootshine from the back; the dragoons ignoring heavy impact; tanks not bothering to position mobs so the rest of the people aren't hit with conal AoEs; etc. Because Fate mobs usually die so fast that it doesn't matter. I think that's why it's better to learn in dungeons.

Just preform with 4 Ninjas and voila, dungeon done.
If you can grab a healer, that'd help but you honestly don't need a tank from Lv 15-38.
It's Stone Vigil/AV and beyond that gets a bit tricky with that. Sunken Temple to an extend too. But by Lv 32, you can just FATE it up and call it a day.

I agree though.
This game desperately needs more interesting tank/healing classes. I was hoping Ninja would be capable of tanking ala FFXI, but alas... the whiners would whine because that's all they do anyway.

Not at all.
Ninjas utilize a lot of Ninjutsu art that's more supportive/defensive than offensive. Stealth is just a tiny portion of a Ninja's arsenal.
But I guess if you wrap your mind around stealth being the ONLY tool at their disposal, then I guess calling it stupid would be logical. Except it's not.

Depends on whic interests them first.

Basic Rule of releasing multiple New Classes/Jobs is Players mostly play the one new class/Job that interesting them the most.

No matter how a new tank and Healer plays out if they don't enjoy the experience they most likely won't play a tank or healer.

It not the issue of wanting a new tank but that Ninja Tank in FF11 was a mistake made because originally Ninja in FF11 was meant to be a type of Stealth DPS class/job but due to poor design it failed its role and someone manage to find a new role for it as a Tank. Due to this the Ninja in FF11 was adjusted to become a Tank class/job.

As Yoshi-P said before he doesn't want to repeat the mistake FF11 did with Ninja being a class/job that failed to perform it original role design as a DPS and turned into a Tank to make up for the mistake in FF11.

I know ima tank and play ninja

Just gotta be smart about lvling Ninja for the first 2 weeks to be honest.

1) Have 100 Leves stocked.
2) Have a number of lvl 1-10 Leves complete and ready to turn in.
3) Have 10-20 Beginner Quests (lvl 1-10) Complete and ready to turn in (if you can).
4) Make sure you have your Challenge Log empty of challenge completions if the update doesn't fall on a Tuesday.

If you're going to go solo and/or queue for dungeons, the name of the game is to preempt yourself as much as possible so you can quickly fly from lvl 1 to lvl 15 and from then on. FATES are going to be overran for a long time from lvl 1 to lvl 30 in the first 1-3 days, so you'll need to take alternatives wherever you can.

I recommend such a thing to anyone on a Legacy server. It's definitely going to be hell to level up on those servers.

I'm more concerned as to who's going to put my eyes back in their sockets after being in a 24 man where 18 Ninja's are popping around like a Warner Bros. cartoon and I cant help but try to follow each and every one of them....

offer a mount for doing dungeons where you are level synced? i actually think the point of atma was to get people to do low level content.

You'll still be on the spotlight as DPS or Healer anyway. You just won't have aggro, so I am not sure why the community is so picky about this. It's just silly.
In many other MMO you could play as a "Battle Priest" or a "DPS Warrior/Paladin" or a "Tank Stalker/Rogue" so why does the general FF community frown upon this?

It was the most awesome mistake they made and they should hope to make more awesome mistakes like this.
Ninja was an incredibly fun class to play, along side with RDM and... well, all of the classes in FF11 were fun, so...
