Well to be fair, Titan is the first really difficult fight in the game.

Haha that was pretty damn awesome. I still remember how awesome it felt to beat him the first time on both story and hard mode. Felt like I was high! First difficult fight in game indeed.

That was cool. They should do that for the other bosses.

I get DF is a terrible place to clear stuff but whyyyy? At least in WoW most time I used RF i still cleared 95% of the time, I get a lot of people are new to mmos coming to this game but why can people not learn quicker? I know all the primals in and out (except ramuh) and yet i have only cleared levi through df (cleared the other two with a group). Nevermind, not going to go on a rant, just hope by first expansion DF might improve, even Coil and CT go better than primals.

The WoW RF provided raids at reduced difficulty, and tactics wise they were less ruthless. Titan in particular is a very ruthless fight in the sence that if you make a mistake, it's commonly an over the edge one. And can no longer be raised. It's also a fight which functions as a bit of a DPS check, hard to complete with people downed unless overgeared. And through DF the people doing this run are often still normally geared, less experienced, etc. So over the edge and a lack of damage is common.

True, still frustrating though. I know there are many factors but maybe one day I can go back and DF it and everyone will find it easy..someday.

This video reminded me of how much I wanted to strangle the 'Company of Heroes' after that part of the storyline. Expensive wines? Rare cheeses? I still want to put scorpions in their luggage after all that...

I still haven't killed Titan ex and the biggest problem for me actually is the lack of chance to practice after heart because people in df have no idea even about what happen up until heart. Killed Moogle and Leviathan in df with less than 5 tries after they were unlocked for df but Titan...1st plumes and someone die, 1st gaols and someone targeted start to panic run around in circles, 1st tank swich and whole party get mountain buster in face :(

I haven't done Ramuh EX yet, but Titan EX still feels like the hardest of the EX fights... to me as a healer at least.

Why? Because you really need all 8 people to understand the fight, pay attention the whole way, and have good reaction/response times.

Our FC still cannot clear Titan EX with any regularity even though we have a few members who are really good and experienced at it.

Sooo often, someone gets hit by a landslide and goes flying off the edge. Even experienced players. Just that split second of not paying attention is enough to put them out of the fight.

Or someone can't get out of the plume area fast enough, dies every other plume, and really drains the healers' MP.

Most of us probably have between an iLevel 90 to 100 (still not on Coil 2).
So with 7 people... sometimes 6 people... maybe even 5 people left on the stage after a few accidents, we start to fail even the not too bad DPS checks like heart, Gaols, or destroying 1 bomb when they all come down at once.

Despite the frustration of failing often, it's a pretty fun fight and I hope they keep it as-is. ^^

Wow, so I watched that on my phone, and at first thought it was fan made due to how overly exaggerated the effects were. I thought this entire thing was a parody... it's still good, but jeez xD.

Oh I don't know, maybe because is a harder fight than the ones you RF on wow? That thought never crossed your mind?
It doesn't matter in which game you throw titan ex, it's still too unforgiving to be easily beaten with random strangers.

Loved that. Titan remains to date my favorite fight (in all three incarnations) and the video does him justice. I hope they never nerf Titan directly. It will be remembered by the XIV community for years to come.

As for the video, I love the upbeat and how overly exaggerated it is. The guys making the videos at SE keep their sense of humor.

Titan best fight in final fantasy 14. So much chaos going around, no room for error. Nice song.

The worst part when learning Titan EX is that when you get to a new phase (past heart in particular) the music changes to a way faster tempo. I made mistakes solely on my nerves in that phase >.>.

I don't think Titan is overrated. I remember the story mode quests leading up to Titan, and how the NPCs emphasized his difficulty - boy did they nail it. My first attempts were as a 34 WHM and I was operating on "landslide has a wider hotbox than what appears on the ground." Cause I could be twenty feet away from the hotbox and still be Landslided. Of course I wasn't aware of the awful lag that preempted patch 2.2 that was happening at the time. It just got to the point where the fight seem so difficult it made me upset I couldn't clear it. It took like a week to finally beat Titan. EX took 3 weeks to clear, and I was carried in that fight. But now I can heal/dps it without any problems now. Overall I'd say Titan is second to Twintania as the most difficult fight. (Haven't done T6 and beyond yet). Once I clear Ramuh Ex (he's my current wall), he'll replace usurp Twintania.

P.s.
The latency is a mechanic in the Navel. Deal with it like any other mechanic.
