My Feedback on Hunts as of 2.35

I have to give my deepest thanks to SE here. I was completely turned off to hunts because of how toxic the community was. Now though, the really hardcore elitists have the S and A marks. While Casuals such as myself, can get seals from dailies and a weekly.

And to help the weekly, the B ranks offer no rewards except to the people who have the bill for them. To make things sweeter, they are on a 5 second respawn timer, so even if you can't get to one before it dies, it respawns elsewhere and people can actually get their weekly done.

The cherry on top, the community which had become so toxic, has now mellowed back out and I'm no longer seeing people cussing and insulting others. Also, my lowbie chars no longer randomly get splattered by B ranks.

So now, I'm really enjoying the Hunts. Yeah I sometimes gotta sit at a fate spawn for an hour, but to me, it's not that big a deal. So SE, thank you for fixing the hunts so everyone can enjoy them :)

If you were a casual you would care about sitting at a fate spawn for an hour.

The community hasn't mellowed out, lol. You don't see rage as often because the loss of Bs means people aren't hunting as consistently. Once any multitude of As and Ss pop up, especially on Balmung, you can be sure the zone shout chat they're in is going to start frothing at the mouth when they're promptly killed or engaged.

What they did to hunts in 2.35 HAS resolved a lot of problems. The way things were originally the daily hunting bills were useless, people were basically forced to do marathon teleport hop scotch to score enough kills for rewards, and the variance between how many seals each person got per week was nuts. One group would score the lottery while another one would be making less then a Mcdonalds worker doing unpaid overtime, which is sort of like what raiding is at the moment given how no developer has thought of rewarding people FOR putting time into learning fights, but that is another matter.

No matter what SE does people will complain about missing a spawn due to early pulls, but at least now the occurrence isn't happening on a 20 minute basis and turning the entire server into barrens chat.

Fixed nothing.

People still get all :mad: and :( when hunting A ranks.

Certain players after being reported multiple times still reset Marks preventing solo or small groups from getting credit, or drag them around preventing melee from getting any credit.

A ranks and S ranks still devalue previous content in the game.

50+ days until balance might be restored with patch 2.4

I agree with OP. Since 2.35 I have started doing dailies and I am enjoying them, B ranks as well.

The A and S rank community is as toxic as always, with their death threats spammed in shouts and what not, but now I can ignore them (like I always did) and get a reasonable amount of seals everyday, at my own pace, with no drama :)

Oh? People organizing themselves to set up sites for hunt, trying to trigger S Rank, and organizing LS hunts so everyone gets their it's certainly more of a community interaction than your average garbage instanced content.

I've meet a lot of people and made a lot of friends with hunts. Centrantly more than I did with the rest of the instanced-content.

I've met a lot more people and made friends while doing instanced contents; all Atma/hunt/FATE parties have been a mute fest. So.... opnions, opnions, opnions?

the instanced-content, that you seems to hate soo much, allows everybody to have a part of the fun... not just an elite.
what it's the true trouble with the hunt, not the community, but the sole fact that everybody want to have fun, but the system at it is don't allows it. even if you manage to get everybody wait, you will end with 200-300 person for kill a monster that recquire 8-40 player, i'm the only one seeing the trouble there?

we are not into a free to play, we are all paying our subs... making content that can only be done by a small number is not community friendly, nor must be there!

everybody must be allowed to take part in every aspect of the hunt, after if they don't have a group for do it, that another trouble, but in the end in a P2P game, every content must be accessible by everyone!

open world content free for all (that we have here with the hunt) are bad in many way.
open world content that available to all, even if that means a bit of instanced into it. it's far better than this!

What SE should have fixed is the S marks disappearing!!! That sux pretty bad and I think its getting worse.

I agree, that's why they should be done with instance, especially coil with its lunch-table mechanic.

4 and 8 men is not a mmorpg.

I won't because I don't have any. I am talking about people from my server. Duh.

Maybe instead of accusing people of being too lazy to socialize, we could instead look inward and ask why people don't want to socialize with the community we've built.

I'd reckon it's borne from some of the hostility people get from players you're seeing in this very thread.

Now that B ranks are taken care of, what needs to be done is having A ranks only giving rewards once a day and S ranks once a week. Maybe increase their rewards to compensate for their changes.

There was barely a community before hunts.

The fixes they've made to the hunts has allowed players such as myself, i.e. those that don't want to deal with the mere probability of dealing with a shitty community, and actual shot at the content, which makes me a very content highlander. I get more for just doing dailies, and I still get to enjoy the thrill of actually hunting for a B rank for a nice chunk of seals. If I want to link up with some friends of mine, then I can go hunt for the big stuff.

They've done a good thing.

Well speaking from my own experiences. Before 2.35 when hunts went in. I had never even seen a B rank except once, and that was in Western Thanalan. It had started attacking lowbies so I pulled it off them and called it out. Others showed up and helped down it. And we all got called all kinds of rude names. It was that level of toxicity that turned me off on hunts to begin with. However, as of 2.35, I've so far seen nothing but people helping one another find the B ranks for their weekly. I even got invited to a group for my weekly and they waited for me to get there before we pulled.

So from my perspective, there's been a big change in the hunts. The dailies are now worth doing, and the weekly has a friendly community that is helpful. I could care less about the A's and S's, because I'm not an elitist. If the toxicity has been limited to those ranks, they can have em. I'm perfectly content with the friendly community I am seeing so far.
