No gun class before expansion, did I miss a previous announcement?

Has there been any announcements prior to this on a delay to the gun class?

If there have been delays on it, that's fine. However, since Rogue/Ninja was announced this topic just seemed to go extremely quiet and from what I have seen, nothing more was released on it.

Can anyone fill me in? Or am I right to think that it was just ignored?

There have been a lot. They have made it pretty clear several times that rogue/ninja would be the only addition before the expansion.

I have just been following the forums and hadn't come across anything unless it was mentioned in an interview that is most likely in Japanese. You wouldn't by chance know if there was an explanation as to why, would you?

The interview was in english, during the E3

All of them were definitely in English, since I don't understand Japanese. And there were a few reasons, ranging from development time/priority to the intended change in the job/class system for the expansion.

It was when they officially announced Ninja.

There was an interview, I don't remember when, where they said "a dagger class and a gun class will be added. The gun class will be something nobody expects!"

They later announced they were releasing Ninja (the dagger class). They never ever said that the gun class and dagger class would be coming at the same time.

All they said was that Ninja was the last Job for the foreseeable future. I have a feeling they will be focusing and expanding on the classes from here on out so there could well still be a musketeer class, just no Job attached to it.

It is very unlikely for a class to appear in ff14 arr without any Job, so if they would add a class they would add a Job.

@Barboron no one knowes how far away 3.0 (and with that new classes/Jobs) is, it could be after patch 2.4/5/6/7... no one knows but they said sooner then all of us would expect it so maybe 2.4 is the last patch before 3.0. who knows

Well that's just it, from what they have told us it sounds like there will be a level cap increase but with no Jobs planned with musketeer being pushed as this surprise role. That just means that either they will overhaul the class system, which anyone who's played Star Wars Galaxies can tell you is a BAD idea, or just add classes without Jobs. The latter is not a bad idea, people seem to KEEP forgetting that Jobs are a modification to a class. The bonus point pool is on the class, not the Job. The Job is equipped and the only gear that's Job specific is AF and relics. Honestly, I'm all for expanding and strengthening the classes, it's been long overdue.

The expansion will release after 2.5. It's pretty obvious.

I just hope they surprise us with a gun mage job. It was so fun it almost convinced me to play FFX-2 even when there was no summoner job.

This is my thinking as well. Since CoB will finish in 2.4 and 2.5 CT is set to be finished. So here's hoping 3.0 will drop 3-4 months after 2.5 with the release of the new end game raid.

You've got it backwards. If they are getting rid of anything its the classes not the jobs. Jobs were added to make this feel more like classic final fantasy. Classes are just a leftover remnant from 1.0.

You can't delay something that was never officially announced.

Yoshi-P said in his most recent gamescom interview that the reason there would be no more classes/jobs after 2.4 is that the expansion is closer that we might anticipate.

So yeah probably gonna be after 2.5

Got to until 2.5 is over since 2.3 is the mid point of 2.X content since Roge/Ninja will be the only new content released for 2.X and the other new classes/Jobs will be release in 3.0 (1st expansion) which means we have...

2.0 (release) -> 2.1 -> 2.2 -> 2.3 (midpoint) -> 2.4 -> 2.5 -> 3.0 (1st expansion)

Also, remember that Yoshi-P said the Gun class will not be what people expect it to be so they may be working on the Gun class to be unique.

There has just been a LOT of speculation about a Musketeer job since we already have a Musketeer's Guild area built into Limsa's Coral Tower. But apparently, they're holding off on the release of it until 3.0 or later.

But I bet you a hundred gil that it'll be talked about along with the expansion pack at Fanfest.
