Q18 of LftP LIVE Part XVII Q&A Solution Found

"Q18: Currently, once you complete the Coil of Bahamut, you are unable to challenge it until the reset. If we are in a FC or LS with more than 8 players, it’s hard to sync the progression of everyone in the FC/LS. Is there anyway you could change the once-a-week system so that we could help out our fellow FC/LS members?

but you already have a system that would work perfectly fine already in place for such content... its the one you use in the crystal tower! or if you wanted you could do something like

"once you defeat a boss for the first time in the week, that is your chance to get loot, even if you don't win anything you cant get loot from that boss till the reset"

so they can roll on everything the boss drops, but even if they get nothing they will no longer get a chance at loot for that boss till next week, but they will still be able to fight the boss again if they so desire(for practice, to help friends/FC members clear it). while on the flip side if say 2 tank items dropped, and the same tank needed them, he'd still be able to get both. just like in regular coil.

a system like this would function more or less exactly like how 2ndcoil works now, except that the weekly lock is on your ability to roll on items from bosses you already defeated, not on entering the instance.

Except it's clear they wouldn't use that system. They've already explained they want to keep run selling, especially of this type of content to a minimum. They're not going to ban it or anything, but your idea would cause it to be more widespread than it already is.

EDIT: And because SOMEONE is going to bring up the "who cares if they sell runs" line, guess what, SE does.

Party 1:"WTS Second Coil of Bahamut T6-9, MSG For Details"
Party 2: "WTS T6-9, MSG For Details"
Party 3: WTS Coil T1-T9"

Not gonna happen, looking at unskill players with full allagan set/wep is just sad.

well there is no way to reduce/eliminate run selling short of saying its not allowed and banning people for it, or keeping their current system which hurts any group of friends/FC members who doesn't hit their magical 8 number. It really is about picking the lesser of two evils, and I for one would rather let people run coil and other such content with friends then force them to sit out because their group is already full... which is exactly what leads them to buying runs through content... or you know, just sucking at the game.

Actually, NOT using your idea and keeping it the way it is will prevent run selling from happening on a much larger scale than it already is. They want to keep the loot from Coil for the people who can complete it normally, as much as possible.

So if you can come up with an idea that WON'T increase run selling, you might get more traction.

well the only other solutions I can think of is make it so there is a version of Coil you can do with no lockout with no loot? but there has to be a reward of some kind or nobody will participate. make it so you could do what I have in the OP but only with a full FC group that you've been a part of for a certain amount of time (like a month?) that would slow down potential abuse but it wouldn't stop it.

Pretty much as Shougun said, they'll have to police it, stop caring about it, or make some sort of complicated system. If they go with the third option and don't do it properly it'll just cause even more harm then good though.

Or they can keep doing it the way they have, because they haven't found an option that works for what they want.

Which is a darn shame, as the two friends I want to do Coil with were invited to a static some weeks ago.

The whole reason the lockout exists is so they don't get the group of people that will spam coil be geared out in all their jobs in 2 weeks then be bored with the game because they have no more content to do and as a result unsub. The lock out makes people wait a long time to get all their gear.

Loot lockouts could do the same (set the max speed a dungeon is cleared). The social lockout (my favorite term for the current system now.. XD) does prevent sells, but you could set a loot and social lockout to the same speed of clearing.

1) Current 'Social' Lockout = 8 people get 2 top-level gears from a turn. 16 people get 4. SE likes this to keep gear from flooding the game faster than they want.

2)'Loot' Lockout & re-run it with friends = 8 people get 2 gears from a turn. 7 of those people run 8 more of their friends (or sell runs) and see another 16 drops.
Now 16 people get 18 items drops. SE will never allow this. After it is no longer top level, they'll let you farm 50 gears a day if you feel so inclined.

3) This is the system that finds a middle ground were 16 people see 4 items a week, without a social lockout. SE is looking for this.

4) CT loot system would still be 16 gears for 16 people, so that exceeds designs also
