I don't know why this was not added from day 1 ffxi had them i hoping they do it here also
Would certainly help. I vote for such a system, although not so crucial atm compared to other requests.
Though it doesn't seem like a big feature to add in.
Agree, to be able to customize your own markers for mining/harvesting/fishing points or even mobs and NMs you are favored to farm.
I'd definitely like this. I'll go one further and ask for a one-click temporary waypoint system, for when you know you need to head to x spot but don't want to go through the journal to check quest, or maybe it's something not quest related. I'm thinking of the type you see in a lot of GTA style games that goes away when you actually arrive there, but helps you maintain your bearings in the meantime.
I want to stress this would be in addition to a permanent marker system though.
I think they added something in 1.18 for gathering that adds markers to your map of the nodes you have found. I have not been on my botanist since 1.18 so im not entirely too sure how it all works but.....
Patch 1.18 notesQuote:
[dev1099] A record of all previously visited gathering points is now saved for each Disciple of the Land class.
I was trying to figure out how that works? I harvested and mined all day yesterday and saw no such thing.
Yea me too. So im confused as well @.@;; It is in the notes, unless im completely misreading them.
Hey guys! We just wanted to let you know that map markers will be implemented in a future patch. :)
I dunno if I should start a thread or if there is one already but for maps is it only few of us that want blind maps?
At least for future areas where you have to actually make the map yourself your path will fill in the maps or stays that way till you buy/obtain the map.
Also how many markers do we get per map? Since some maps we already have for example Nanawa mines, the map is already stuck in my head but would be nice if we can mark all the spots we can't pass through although on the map it shows we can. (Would be nice if those are auto markered when you hit the dead end)
I like the idea of the (area-level) map starting out blank, revealing itself automatically as you explore. But a system like FFXI where you do quests to obtain maps would be OK as well. As long as the quests are reasonable, that is. They should be fun and at times challenging diversions. I don't want to have to form a party to farm drops for a map, though. Nobody wants to do that, so you just end up going map-less.
Any chance we can get something stored locally so we can pop personal notes on the map?
And i would go for semi blind maps.. you get a rough outline with just the camps and nodes loosely marked, but all the detail you fill in yourself as you run around..
I also like the idea of the map filling in as you explore some areas.
The following is taken from the ffxiv official website (not the lodestone):
And that's how we got our map in lore terms. So the idea is that there is a map commercially available, or at least distributed by the adventurer's guild, that is considered to be indispensable for an adventurer.Quote:
A map is as precise
As the malms walked in her making,
Yet I fear these feet
Have but far too few between them
May she serve faithfully
Any who would employ her for good,
And shun all who would fill
Her borders with blood
Twelve see the steps taken
By those who heed her humble guidance
Ensure her legacy endures
Roddard Ironheart
Year 1506 of the 6th Astral Era
The vast realm of Eorzea, comprising the continent of Aldenard and its outlying islands, has seen the rise of a civlization with peoples as diverse as its environs. Throughout its history, the landscape has played home to a number of city–states–the tenuous relations among them fluctuating between friendly and hostile.
The pantheon of the Twelve is followed devoutly by most, and doctrine holds that the past wars of the realm were the wars of the heavens, with the gods and goddesses laying their favor with nations to champion them. In this way, war spread throughout the realm, discouraging unity and peace.
As a result, years passed without the lay of the land and its borders ever being mapped in their entirety. It was not until some 70 years ago, when an intrepid soul set out to wander the land, at great peril to himself, that the first map of Eorzea was completed.
Since then, the original rendering has been amended and improved by others, and the form it takes today is used by adventurers across the realm as an indispensable guide on their travels.
I hope that helps add context for the in-game map (and also why it never seems to be 100% accurate).
