hey guys I have a quick summoner question.
I pretty much user all my dots + shadow flare in my rotation but I've never had Miasma II in it. It seems like a waste of MP, it barely does any damage and for single target it seems pointless. I'm just wondering am I gimping my DPS by not using it? I've pretty much had it off my bar. Same goes for tri-disaster. I practically never see a use for those 2 skills but I'd love some insight if they are to be used in my rotation to bring my DPS up.

I only use miasma 2 when combined with RS and contagion. Never did the math but my gut feeling tells me it has a higher potency than ruin.
As for TD, I only use it for pvp, while dealing with cyclops adds for alex maps and garuda plumes. Hope this helps. -

Miasma II is worth it to use when you have Contagion up, as it becomes longer by 15 seconds, ticking 5 more times. Without contagion, it is 70 potency overall (20 potency on application hit, 10 potency ticks, ticking 5 times overall on a 15s timer), thus not worth it to cast with the Ruins being 80 potency. With contagion, it becomes 120 potency, as it will have 5x more 10 potency ticks.
Tri-disaster is worthless even for AOE-purposes. The only times I've ever used it have been when I've locked out some NPCs from a boss room on a speedrun, as boss rooms get sealed in 15s and Tri-disaster lasts for 20s. -

The MP cost is so high for a 40 potency gain over a ruin. It takes 4 contagioned miasma 2 to make up the difference between a fester and an energy drain. So if using all those miasma 2's causes you to need to use an energy drain over a fester once or twice it doesn't seem worth it. So yea. I have had a tough time deciding whether it's really worth usingQuote:

Miasma II is 70 potency therefore it is always better to use Miasma II over Ruin whenever there is 2+ enemies (total 140 potency vs 80). If it's a single target boss fight then there's no real need to use it except when both Raging Strikes and Contagion is up (unless you want l33t DPS, then you can use it whenever Contagion is up).Quote:

If you do not factor in MP usage at all then yes miasma 2 is always worth it. But you need to factor in MP usage for longer fights. Is it worth the MP use in a 8-10 minute fight? And whether miasma 2 is worth it or not against 2+ enemies depends on how long those enemies last. if they're dead in 5 seconds then it may not be worth it.Quote:

All of these things would lead you to an answer if its directly worth using it over a long fight with no breaks. You would have to judge yourself if you feel starved for MP or not. If you were super starved then perhaps taking it our of a rotation would be better for you, but if you can afford it, then use it. You shouldn't be using Energy Drain either if your getting a Ballad, say on something like T8. -

Yea. I see what you mean. Situational. I'll just try different things each week. Have only been SMN main for a little more than a month.
As for my static. I pretty much never get ballad in coil. Only get it if the healers need it. Healers don't need it unless they die. Rarely happens. -

Unless all you log in for is raiding and crafting there's tons of mobs in dungeons to use it in (and your MP regens between pulls so not an issue). In raids the best thing I could tell you is just experiment and see what happens. People die, you get targeted and have to move more often, etc. -

Miasma II for AoE situations and single target when Contagion is up.
Tri-Disatser never unless for some reason you need a bind, Blizzard II is always better for AoE. -
