Lvling all classes how do you do it ?

I wasn't completly sure where to put this so i put it up here.

I've recently rejoined FFXIV ARR and i've been wondering about all the classes in-game.
You can lvl all classes & jobs on 1 character, but is this really doable?
Lvling all classes including having a mass amount of gear, not to mention having both discipline of War and Magic classes. Doesn't this make a mess of things or having you to sort out the gear everytime you lvl another class??

Isn't it more easier to just a new character for this ? For example on char for Discipline of War classes adn the other for discipline of magic ?

Not to mention you will eventually run out of quests/ content to do and will be forced to grind for your lvls? Or has this system been improved upon or changed ?

I'd like to hear people's opinion about it and also like to know if there people who do this how they do it ?

The way I did it because I'm masochistic, I leveled them up all to 15, so that I wouldn't have to bother what was the required sub-class for this job etc..

The best way is to get one battle class to 50, then the system will make it easier for you when playing an alt with more experience points.

Then, since all my classes were the same lvl, it was easier for me to get rid of old gear.

You will outlevel the gear so I didn't bother until lvl 30, as it tend to become slower.

At the time where Fates was giving more XP than Dungeons, this is how I leveled them up. All of them.

That's why now I have the Paragon set lol (wish we could see the amount of fates after 3000, must be close to 5000 lol)

Having all jobs maxed gives you access to cross-class skills, and with the soon cap raise, you never know if they will make some skills the same way. Imagine lvl 55 skills cross-class, you will cry that you didnt level all your class on one character (I've read they plan of revamping the classs system so /shrugs)

Yes you run out of quest. I'm a sucker for quest so it gets very boring. Usually when all that there is to do in game is Dungeons, Dungeons and Dungeons, this is where I change game.

So far I impress myself that I still stick to this game ^^

So now, your options: You have your Dragoon Maxed (Congrats)

If you still have som sidequests, do them.

Challenge log, when you are about to receive the gil and xp, change into a class that can receive it. Hunting Log of course as you should have done it for your Dragoon.

Guildhest: So many people overlook this, it gives nice XP to all of your classes, so you can do one, switch class, and redo the same one, getting xp ^^

Fates and Leves: I do fates when getting to my leves, and in-between them. (you get gil and item to gear up too)

I would get the boring part away first, but that's me: I would lvl up all the rest (battle and magic) to 15. Then you get rid of the gear, and you pick up one, get the job, then switch.

Once you are lvl 30, you can make a party in Coerthas and lvl up from fates. (depends of your time, but it goes fast enough for me)

Lvl 44 and 47 (Dungeon 1-2 first rooms): Aurum Vale for example, you clear the first room, perhaps first boss if you are under 15 minutes, you get out, go back in, gives a nice XP boost.

Every 5 lvls, do your class/job quest, it will alleviate the boredom of doing the same thing over and over.. and unlocking more skills and some gil (I didn't take the gear unless you really need them)

Its pretty easy. Do the main story and quests for your first class, then for the rest you do your daily low level dungeon and daily guildhest on the job your leveling, plus complete the challenge logs that reward xp on the class your leveling. If your leveling a tank or healer just spam dungeons, for DPS queue for dungeons and while you wait do battle leves. Also always do your hunting log for each class its a big boost of xp. Once you get to 40s you can also do daily beast tribe quests if your appropriate level for more xp.

Having all classes leveled on one character is really mostly a convenience because it would be a ton of work to do all the quests and stuff for 8 different characters.

There's no reason not to level all jobs on 1 character really, but there's also nothing wrong with having for example 1 character for DoM and 1 for DoW. Gear isn't much of an issue, you should have plenty space to store it, and at lower levels gear doesn't matter much anyway.

Doing dungeons appropriate to your level is a good way to level, you get a LOT of exp from them. On top of that, you can do a low level dungeon roulette and get a large exp bonus once a day for completing those. That bonus added to the regular exp from a dungeon can get you 2 levels on a single dungeon run early on.

Don't actively grind all jobs to 50 though, just take your time and enjoy the game, there's plenty to do other than level jobs or grind for gear :)

And there are a lot of players with all classes 50.

Separate chars for DoW and DoM is not possible if you want to make a Paladin for example (30 GLD + 15 CNJ to unlock it).

Anyways leveling is fast even for DPS classes, dungeons as much as you can and Fates/leves while waiting. Low level roulette gives you more than half a level per day.
Until you hit 45 with Artifact armor gear are shared, DoW(dex/str), Tanks and DoM (Int/Mind)

Aftewards if you want raid gear for all classes only way to bypass lockout is 1 character per class.

Gear management was a bit harder before we had the little page symbol for gear that's part of a gear set. But with that there, it's really not difficult at all. When you get some new gear, you check the other jobs you're leveling and see if it's an upgrade. If it is, you update the gear set. When you gain some levels on a job, you look through your armory to see if you've got upgrades waiting, and again, update gear set. It's a couple minutes at a time at worst.

And I feel like I'm leveling just as fast now (with pretty much no quests left anywhere), with leves and fates and roulettes and dungeons and hests and beast tribe dailies and the challenge log, as I was when I was reading all that quest text and watching all those cutscenes. I suppose if you don't read and you skip cutscenes, questing would be more of a noticeable difference.

Some of the better cross-class abilities aren't available till later levels, so it doesn't hurt to finish them up to 50.

Also, doing dungeons/leves/guildhests for your lower-level jobs will often net you enough gear to get by with any job you choose. As far as endgame, I tend to spread my gear out based on priority:

-My main raid job is Warrior/Paladin. This has the highest priority for endgame gear at the highest iLVL, depending on certain stats. They generally both use the same gear, so it is easy to keep them at approximately the same iLVL.
-My favorite job is Monk. This has the next highest priority.
-My next most-used job is healer.
-etc.

Things like CT, Mythology, Soldiery, Allied Seals, ST, BC, SCoB allow me to gear up everything (I think my lowest iLVL is 83, rest are near or above 90). It helps that a lot of classes use the same gear. Space has never been an issue for me, even when crafting. Usually, you just have to actually look at what you got and purge it if you know you won't really use it. Luckily, in this patch, you can turn in a lot more items for GC points, so they go out of your inventory when you acquire a better alternative.

All in all, this saves you $2 a month from having to make an alternate character :)

I set myself the goal to spam each specific dungeon (in ascending order of level) until I have all the green loot from it before moving on the next one, changing class to be able to Need the pieces I was missing.

For example,

Sastasha/Copperbell/Tam-tara (Foestriker, Plundered, Acolyte) > Halatali (Doctore's weapons/armor) > Toto-rak (Warden/Brigand/Torturer/Ascetic's) > etc.

By the time I got to Aurum Vale (lv47 loot), all my combat classes were lv50 without whatsoever need of FATEs and roulettes, though I do not recommend this goal-setting kind of approach if you don't have a collector's OCD like me who actually makes me enjoy the repeating of the same dungeon several times a day.

DoHs, just use the HQ bonus on Supply Delivery and crafting leves (www.fxivguild.com helps). DoLs were the ones that look longer for me, but the Supply Delivery HQ exp bonus and the gil income during the grinding made up for the long time it took overall.

I'm leveling my last combat class, Dragoon, which, ironically, I started as (healer queues were much nicer at release). I most through FATES back when that was the easiest/best way to go. Monk/Warrior and now Dragoon, i did through a combination of daily low lvl roulettes and leves/FATES.

Actually, now that I realize it, I never touched a sidequest post 25ish...might make leveling up my last class easier (36 DRG atm).

Dont bother trying to keep them all geared in endgame, focus on the role you like to play the most and gear out your favorite class in that, then pick a class from the other 2 roles as secondary. But I wouldnt advise to do more than 3 classes.

Leveling up, it helps to finish off an armor class at a time. Once you are finished with say, PLD/WAR you can trash all the low level armor, then move onto the caster/healer classes then trash all that low level gear.

I actually feel kinda behind since I quit for a while, but I want to finish off my classes before I hit the 2.3 stuff.

Some people thinks it is a mess but... To be honest, when everything is finally 50 is when you have all the things looking nice and smooth in inventory and armoury chest. It can be doable, in a few months, and without having that so much time (I work and study, mostly playing weekends, only having 3-4 free hours per day during the week)

You just need to.... Enjoy it, I enjoy playing all classes, that's why it wasn't so really difficult for me. As for few tips, there are always some classes that will help you level up the others later if you first maximize those... For example my first 50 in this server was warrior. Good tank class, you only need to have monk around 8 and paladin 22 for maximize the cross skills. For level up you just need to complete main story line quest like a crazy, and believe me, even if you are undergeared, with this class it will be easy.

Also, like someone said, after leveling your main, the others will level up faster with FATES. This is especially true after level 40, Stone Vigil, D*makrnwiri*el Darkhold and Aurum Vale are super annoying worthless slow dungeons that won't give you much, D*htrfwierbwie*el Darkhold can be actually good but... If you make a premade for farming it and know how. My favorite route was...lvl 37-44 Coerthas Fates. 44-46 Mor Dhona, 47-50 Northern Thanalan, if Gorgimera appeared, or fates were just dead, changed to Mor Dhona and did a few until the balance would come back in Northern.

After letting it i90 and doing a few of stuffs I already started to gain soldiery, and with the time I got to level up the other classes, when all of them reached 50 they already had gear prepared, so no trauma.... In my case it was first warrior, then bard, then monk, then... I crazy leveled up the rest all together, for fun.

After it it came... Gatherers and Crafters... First of all I never used levemets on my fighting classes, so used all of these in leveling the gatherers. Once gatherers reached 50, it started the time for crafters. (I previously used all my gil earned in story for level up Blacksmith to 50, it was a total gil sink, but... At that time of the server, if you wanted a relic you had to craft it yourself, noone on market, also leveled up culinarian to 37, very useful skill it gives). Then, already having leveled my gatherers, and blacksmith and culinarian, I made 50 all crafters. To be honest, crafters were the last thing I leveled up, they weren't really needed for something urgent at all, and it was better idea to slowly level them with Grand Company missions and levemetes.

Too sad is... I didn't craft my relics, aside of the first one....Good side is I'm crafting a lot of these now that the crafters are 50, and recovering the money I wasted on them....

Ok, ending with the nooby tips.... Being a noob all-arounder can be done, yep! And in my opinion it is the best way to enjoy the game. You'll never say a "I'm bored" / "I have nothing to do" / "Everything is pointless".

Bad thing is that sometimes you don't know where to start, or what to do next...I have still needing to take all master recipes to the crafters, obtain their supra tools, the same with gatherers...Make money for the guild with SB because they want mansion...Doing the unending atma quest for all the classes... (The other insatiable of the server already finished it... damn, my luck is not so good) so far in 2/84 of the remaining ones, 2/96 if wanting to prefarm ninja's. Funny thing is that it will be nerfed when I finish it, I smell it.)

If you want to test all things, it is worth more to use one character than 9. Without crafting, you'll be fine with 2 retainers, saving there gear for classes when they become 50, and other gear for leveling from 1-50... IF you want craft you'll need at least 4 retainers. One of my retainers is solely for culinarian ingredients and reagents.

PS: If you really want to be all arounder, you'll have to deal with the fact that you'll always need to compensate your lack of gear. Meaning, most of the players will often have better gear than all your classes and probably be better at it than you, all my armada is i93-i96. By that time I could have maybe two full i110.... Four if we try soldiery combos such as tanks, casters, healers. (I think only the soldiery chest piece of all them are 7500 + sol)


In my opinion, you shall try it. Even if you find yourself that you can't hold it, or that you love too much one of the classes, at least you'll acquire many basic knowledges that will help you to further improve.... (A healer that have tanked a duty before will know better when to heal, for example. A tank that have healed will know when a healer will have a bad time, thus, when to active some cooldowns...When you have tried all of this you also notice that the buffs for the party that some DPS have are there, exist, and can be used for party's purpose... Those things :3)

Oh, and... Unlike adventurer classes, crafter classes are better done in this thing. It's not the same, will never be the same, to have a character goldsmith, a character weaver, etc... All the crafters improve a lot taking 50 skills from each other, and when you have all 50, you can make everything for yourself, lowering the cost, and also having a supreme higher chance of HQ the things thanks to the great variety of really needed skills that you take. (Unlike adventurers.. There are not super needed skills at 50 or high levels... And you can only take of two others so...)


All you need is... Like this gaming style. (I consider it myself a very noobish style... After all, you don't have time to super maximize one or two classes like super pro guys do, or go to super raids and those pro stuff. Because I'm busy enough, totally ignored coil stuff and so, don't even have unlocked leviathan, ramuh, that stuff)
And organization, a lot of organization. (It is the key that will tell if you'll do this in a few months or in half a year)
And the key for organization is... Make it so you do a lot of things while doing only one...Everything you do have to benefit your current class or all of them, or help them in the future, etc. A perfect example or organization is.... Go farming your atmas for your WHM using your bard [Faster than WHM] for it, while spiritbonding some gear for obtaining materia to sell, and winning company seals for using with your crafter and also points for your free company to use, points you can use for further spiritbond, or reduce the money for teleports, and thanks for reducing the money for teleports you can do a lot more of those while farming atmas and... There it goes, you get it.

In my opinion this game is perfectly designed for not really needing at all other characters and be an all in-one. (Exception some ultra-pro raiders, I met someone who did three different characters just for that...)

Is it possible? Yeah.

1. Gear:
All you need are 5 sets of gears for ALL of your classes, which are Tank/DoW/DoM/DoH/DoL. Trick is you need to stay on even levels for each gear set, so you wont have a ARC at level 10 while a PGL at level 30 (2 sets instead of 1). So if you are going to level your MRD, better level your GLA together. Same applies for DoL/H classes, which often can even use the same set for both. To help save/make gils, it is better to level your DoL (gather mats), then DoH (craft own gear), then DoW/M (SB crafted gear).

2. How-To
Save all the leves for DoH/L, and do those repeatable leves where you can do 3x turn in for 1 leve (HQ if possible for 2x exp reward). So what happens here is you get 9x exp w 3 leves, with possible max of 18x exp reward. For DoW/M, just do dungeons and FATE grind.

Sidenote: This game isn't like other MMOs where you are limited to what you can do per char and must have multiple chars to experience the whole game. There is no need to have more then one char unless you wish to experience the initial storyline differences between the races/cities.

I did level my classes with leves and behest during 1.0
Also leveled my gatherer and crafter classes a bit with chocobo caravan and Ifrit fights (around 3k exp each win, if i remember it right)

And yes, You level up what you find fun and enjoy.

I'm an achiever so even if FSH is far from my 'fun', I gotta catch them all! ^^ (I'm not yet into this weather Vista ewww >.<)

*side note: I am in the process of having another account (still hesitating ^^), so when Ninja and the new race will pop, I might start from scratch with one to see the story as a whole. And as well, will give me a complete access to desynthesis for all crafters (SE don't create another crafter, please don't, we don't want any more classes or jobs in this game <-- sarcasm), since I've read somewhere (can't recall) that they might unlock 400 points, making us having 4 maxed Crafters that can desynth.

So it's a win-win, and then I'll get a friend circlet that gives 20% boost XP for all class up to lvl 25 (awesome) oh! Dual-ride Chocobo too, until we can get married ;)

It was pretty easy to get all jobs 50. For starters, many jobs can double up on equipment, so level a few jobs at the same time that use the same gear. (Crafting and Gathering especially until you reach 50).

The only time I have had problems with armory space was with rings.

I have 3 fighting classes at 50(+scholar) and 3 doh/dol classes and Im having lots of issues finding space for all the gear. My armoury chest is 25/25 in every slot. And my inventory is 2/5 gear (sure most of them are vanity items but Id rather have them there than on my retainer if I realize ina dungeon that my shoes dont really fit my outfit). But I reckon if you dont collect vanity its easier.

It will take ages though! Currently working on my BLM and it has been between level 30-35 last two weeks doing one dungeon every other day.

Inventory management is a huge pain, I agree. That is, while leveling your classes. You dont want to toss out the gear because itll help your other classes but then organizing everything by level, knowing when its time to upgrade, or even going back to the retainer to do so is a pain. In the end I just decided to screw everything and just level each class completely separate from each other. No hand-me-downs. They each start with the race starter gear, and go from there.

The ONLY classes that I keep gear for is DoH and DoL which I try to keep a set for every 5 level bracket. They each use the same gear minus the tools, its much easier to keep track of two sets rather than 6(?). And most importantly, while you can always just do dungeons or even leves to get more combat gear, crafter gear is much harder to come by unless you want to just buy everything. Or level every crafting profession at the same time, not recommended unless you like managing hundreds of crafting mats.

As for actually leveling I actually find it much faster to level with leve's, FATES, and dungeons than going through the whole quest story line. Grab your leve's in town and do every FATE that pops up near you as you wait for duty finder to pop. Great time for ranking up your chocobo too.
