SPOILERS! 2.3+ Kingdom hearts refrences?

Alright so, my fiancee asked me to post this, she is a HUGGEEE Kingdom Hearts fan:

After us finishing the current story after Ramuh and forming the Crystal Braves we see that cutscene with the Acsians in their "void" my fiancee wanted me to ask whether the acsians there are in anyway linked with Organization 13 , not sure if she counted wrong but she said there was 6 on each side plus the white acsian in the centre, also the fact that there was a huge floating door and the mention of a "key" to unleash their "One true God"

but yeah, what do you think?

nope, nada, no way.

"key's" have been mentioned in other places in the story. And every time it simply refers to something (or someone) important.

As for the ascians, this here is an interesting read on their names. That still doesn't prove any relation or lack thereoff with Organisation XIII, but I would say it is highly unlikely. I also don't see any zippers.

I 100% doubt it. I think if we see any reference to KH, it'll be a cleverly named FATE. Which, on that note, whoever is in charge of naming the FATES, good on them! There are some really cleverly named ones!

We might get a Lightning-similar set of special FATEs when KH3 comes out, but that's probably it and who knows how likely.

Ah yes, I expect we will. Wouldn't be to hard to tie in lore-wise either since KH is all about traveling to different worlds.
But I do expect that we ill only get to see Sora / KH original characters if this happens though.

The Ascians are actually a reference to FFXII not Kingdom Hearts - they bear the names of Scions of Light, who were, interestingly, the holy counterparts to the 'fallen' Espers. But they're just references and not actually the Scions of Light. The development team stated this a while ago.

And I sure hope a KH crossover doesn't appear in ARR - besides the licensing nightmare associated with using Disney stuff in the game that would probably make intellectual property lawyers curl up in the foetal position, KH was nothing but a spinoff series with no actual canonical connection to the FF series so it just wouldn't make any sense. It's like saying Super Smash Brothers is part of the Mario games.

Making Disney characters appear would indeed be a legal nightmare.

But I'm not sure how everything is copyrighted so maybe a character like Sora can appear. Then again maybe the KH original characters are copyrights are shared between SE and Disney, in which case we are back to the legal nightmare.

FFXI, FFXIII, and Dragonquest have no canon connection to FFXIV either, yet they still had crossover events so I don't think that is a reason not to do it. Costume crossovers happen all the time in games, and some can be pretty awesome (although others are just weird). Legal issues are probably the best reason not to do it.

Please, keep Nomura out of this. Lightning was enough Nomura. We don't need more.

But those events had specific reasons why they were given crossovers, and it wasn't for fanservice either.

The FFXI event was originally to celebrate FFXI's eleventh anniversary of service (a FFXIV event involving spriggans occurred in FFXI at the same time), which was appropriate given FFXIV was originally meant to be FFXI's symbolic successor.

As well, the FFXIII event was actually originally a private joke between Yoshi-P and Motumu Toriyama who gave Lightning a miqo'te costume for fun in Lightning Returns and Yoshi said he'd "find some way to put Lightning in FFXIV ARR" (paraphrased) to repay the compliment - it ended up also being used as cross-marketing for LRFFXIII, hence why the first two times the event ran it coincided with the game's release in Japan and the rest of the world.

And the Dragon Quest X event was to celebrate DQX's first year of service (not to mention Yoshi was originally on DQX's development team so it's a fond call back to his previous job).

However, unlike the origins for these events, FFXIV has absolutely zero connection to the KH games. Hence, I seriously doubt you'll see a KH crossover in FFXIV. But then, stranger things have happened...

Tetsuya Nomura was the main character designer for all 3 FFXIII titles.

(Basically if the characters' clothes have zippers and huge belt buckles everywhere, you can bet nomura designed them.)

The number thirteen is fairly significant throughout history of being 'bad,' 'evil,' or 'unlucky.' Much like the numbers three, seven, and twelve are often seen as being 'right,' 'lucky,' or 'holy.' It's just common trope-iness to pit thirteen and the bad guys together. *shrug*

In any case, what we know of the Ascians doesn't really add up to much of anything regarding Organization XIII. Black robes, roles as antagonists, and the fact that they're both being used aside, they're really both very different in their goals, motives, and methodology. Given that this is the FFXIV Lore forum and not a KH Series Lore forum, however, I won't go into too much detail.

Falen mentioned it as a possibility when KH3 comes out (somewhere in the distant future), my response that I expected a crossover event was a reply to what he said. When KH3 comes out I wouldn't be surprised at a crossover event. Likewise, I more or less expect a crossover event with FFXV when that comes out (I have faith it will. one day).

But I agree that I don't want a crossover without that. I see no reason to mix the two as they -indeed- have no real connection, and it would only lead to tons of tinfoil speculations about the two being connected in some way while they are really not.

I can't remember where i saw that but Yoshida already said that for now they dont intend to make a KH cross over because of Disney.
