Can GM's change Free Company Leader?

We have someone in our FC trying to contact GM's to get ahold of the FC's Leadership role. This particular guy is our old leader, who recently has become very aggressive and wanted to boot all the other co-leaders. He just came back from a 6 months break, so we'd put our heart and soul into making a strong FC. Now he wants to boot us all. Somehow, by a stroke of luck, he accidentally promoted one of us to Leader (This guy was the leader for 6 months) However, we cannot remove him either because he has a room. So he is contacting a GM to try to get the leadership role back (Which we won't give to him). Because as soon as he gets it, the FC is going to die. He is going to kick out all of our leadership members, and most likely a ton of people will leave with us (He has been gone for 6 months!)

So I am mainly wondering if there is a chance a GM will fulfill his request and he pretty much destroy our FC which we have worked very hard towards building.

I doubt it, but on the off chance that the GMs can actually do something about it I just hope it happens after 2.35, at which point you should be able to deal with him yourselves.

I thought after 3 months of inactivity the leadership is automatically passed to someone else? If he was truly gone for 6 months, then he's lost all claim to leadership and you shouldn't have a problem with keeping him from taking it back. Unfortunately it seems like you're going to have to wait until the patch, because I believe in 2.35 they said they're going to change it so you can kick members even if they have private chambers.

GMs don't usually interfere in FC management so I doubt it. You can petition a GM to remove his room so he can be kicked if you feel he is harassing the FC.

Can they? Yes.

Will they? No.

I seem to recall a post about someone trying to get leadership of their FC back time to dig up the post to see if its the same person /popcorn

I dont think GM's will do anything to change the leadership as they dont touch player disputes and the system is working as intended week after next you can remove the player in question and be done with it.

FC's are self-governed(like most "guild" type groups in MMOs) SE shouldn't(best not) interfere.

No GM will not change leadership.
Submit ticket for harassment if he is being that much of a nuisance.
I'd just set FC message to blist the guy if GM refuse to remove his private chamber.

I called this about the fc rooms back before the update :p SE should have held off on rooms but at least a fix is coming for now you guys should just block him.

For now your FC is just gonna have to ignore him, come 2.35 you can get rid of him. But no, a GM would never change an FC's leadership like that.

Ask everyone to BL him, set him the lowest rank with the least amount of privileges and when 2.35 comes kick him.

like other people have said i dont think GM can change the leadership as he lost his Master roll by being inactive and was there for moved to another member of your FC so he wont ever get it back unless he is promoted back to leader there i mean if he being a such a pain you can always demote him to rank that has no rights at all in your FC. but i do hope you can solve the problem as he sound like someone i would kick from my FC the whole private room membership lock need to be sorted in a patch as problems like this happen which stop us FC leaders solving problems

This is definitely a case where you want to be able to boot someone with a room. It also however brings up the other side of the argument. What if this abusive leader WAS still Master and booted people from the FC who bought rooms? Sure he's the Master and it's his prerogative but it costs the player 300k plus whatever gil they had. This is why I hope the devs don't flip the situation completely to the other side and allow FC leaders to boot anyone with a room unconditionally. Asshole leaders are not uncommon and they aren't necessarily the FC Master, just someone who's been promoted. Leader B kicks Player A. Master gets told and they kick/demote Leader B and reinvite Player A. Player A is now out their gil/furniture...

Just FYI all, I did report him for harassment before I even posted, so did a few other peoples. He came back a few weeks ago, we promptly made him leader again, so he was leader for the last few weeks (After his 6 month break). However, during his rampage today, he accidentally made someone else a leader somehow while trying to demote them, and of course we didn't give it back to this rampaging lunatic.

And to Lithera, I'd imagine the reason they've stalled the ability to boot people with rooms is because they're implementing it in a way where the booted user gets their GIL & Furniture back.

Furniture? Maybe. It's bound to you, so I can certainly see how they would set something up to get that back to you.

Gil though? I seriously doubt it.

One of the purposes of buying a room is to get gil out of the economy. And what would the purpose of buying a room be if you can just get that gil back? That means that everyone leaving any FC will just be asked to be kicked, and then get their 300k back. Sure, the room itself would still be a gil sink for those who stay with their FC until they quit the game, but SE giving their gil back would only serve in gimping their own system.

That also means you would have people expecting to get back what they paid if their FC leader decides to completely disband the FC. I put around 16m towards just the house itself, not counting my room or the stuff inside. There is no way SE would ever give me that back is the FC disbanded or I got kicked from it. This is the same concept.

Nope he can't, after the update you can kick him I believe.

He did not contribute to the building of the Free company he was gone for 6 months and how many ranks, you just don't come back demand leadership back and say you are gonna kick people and call GM.

That is his bad for leaving, he should leave go start his own FC if he feels that way.

Also before you decide to kick him, make sure he takes his furnishing out give him a chance set it up, if he did buy some furnishing for the house, just give it back to him its his.

The "week after next" referred to for patch time was a while ago now and monday/tuesday is when patch goes live.

Seriously though, HUGE oversight by Square Enix. This guy has been starting drama and shit in our FC chat for over 12 hours now, and there isn't a damn thing we can do. We cannot assign chat privileges and we cannot boot him because he has a room. Only thing we can do is tell people to black list him, but even then it's still too late, since there is a complete negative vibe going on with him around. If the patch is Monday/Tuesday, then thank god. Hopefully the GM's do not restore his Leadership, and we can kick him.

Your statements are quite contradictory. He wants kick you all, but promote one of you to the new FC master? Your OP quite confused at the least.

I just guess your ex-master decided to let you guys run the FC yourselves and made the necessary actions to let you do what you want to do. You don't become the new FC master by luck, there are confirmations to agree to that, and your ex-master done it on purpose. Just be grateful he agreed your requests and avoid bashing him on forums.

The fact he now is trolling you all, is another thing but again none to discuss on forum, as long as the kick members with room is a well-known issue and it is also well-known that it will be fixed in two days from now on.

My 2c, just let him have its fun, that will lasts only 2 days more. You waited six months, I guess you can endure two more days :)

If the guy was rampaging down the name list changing ranks it's completely possible he promoted someone instead of demoted. There's been rant posts here on the forums before from FC leaders that have accidentally promoted people. Some people just power click through dialogs forgetting which option they just clicked, assuming they hit the option they wanted and not the one that demotes themselves below Master lol

Nope, he actually accidentally promoted one of us to Leader while trying to demote/kick us. He tried to play it off initially as a joke but not even a minute later he was demanding the leadership role back and threatened to contact SE to get it back. It was quite literally one hell of a stroke of luck.
