I have my ATMA Artemis Bow,let's discuss on drop rates.

Hello guys,I just wanted to talk about ATMAS and the loads of topics there are about ATMAS and its horrible drop rates.
I must be honest,it wasn't hard and honestly I liked it.
When I started it I always saw topics about players saying : '' Oh no,it's so boring I did nearly 3 days of full Fate Farming and I still have 1 ATMA '' or '' Please SE,the drop rate is so low,give us a better rate in 2.4 '' and so on.
But really,then when I invited those guys in my party they said '' Yes,I've been farming ATMA of the Twins for 3 days already '' so I said '' How many fates you did '' ? ''Trust me,I'm getting crazy,I did 15 Fates every day''.
Really?. 15 Fates?.
What you guys wanted,Relic is probably going to be the best evolving weapon of the entire game,so why moan everyday about how ATMAS are hard to get?.

SE did many ways to get an ilvl 95+ weapons. Leviathan,Sol Tomes and Coil.
Why you just don't try to find your favourite path?. Why you just don't stop talking about how horrible ATMA is?. Why you moan about the drop rate when you hunt the ENTIRE day?.
Please,let's discuss about this and sorry for my english :).

It's pretty well-known that these "Atmas are easy for me so they must be easy for everyone so get over it," threads don't go over well on the forums.

This discussion you're looking for is not going to end kindly in your favor.

The Atma system is very random, but it can be assumed to be a 1~5% drop rate from a FATE. Just because it was easy for you doesn't mean it's the same for everyone else. It's a very tedious and time consuming event overall.

Some atma drops I didn't get until I did somewhere around 150 fates in a given region. The fastest one dropped in just 3 fates. It is very random.

5/12 Atma. While I have FC peeps working on their 2nd Norvus.

While the mean time, I got like 7 sands of time and upgraded both my Blm and Healer. On top of that I got the i110 healer staff. From HUNTs..

Some people just do not like the insane rng. That's why most people that are at the Novus stage do not complain that much. It's because they have specific things to do with a guaranteed result. With the atma drops you could get lucky and get all 12 in a couple of hrs or you have some people that have went months and still do not have them all. I think if getting atmas was more like the Alexandrite people would not complain so much but, the way I see it is if you don't like it don't do it.

Not having your Novus will not end the game for you.

I want to be able to buy Atma Stones with Soldiery or the next currency.

I got five atma stones early on in 2.2, but on an average of 5 FATEs per day, I haven't gotten a single Atma stone in about 3 months.

After getting frustrated with Atma I went into that acceptance phase of if it drops then it drops and if it doesn't then I'm one fate close to that vanity royal top. I put on music and just stayed in zones after till they eventually started to drop very quickly. It was odd.. When I really wanted them I got nothing but when I went about it with a bit of apathy the game threw them at me.

I do think they should implement either a raise in drop rate or like you said have them be currency based. We've got classes coming over the horizon and these steps of the quest will be very out dated come 3.0 and higher..unless they decide to tone down all the ilvl raising and focus on others ways of helping us grow.

Leviathan weapons aren't worth it, and the mirrors that upgrade them from level 95 to level 100 have only a 2% drop rate.
Ramuh weapons could be worth it, if you can actually find people who want to do Ramuh EX. Most people I speak with don't care about him.

This pretty much leaves Gerolt's Masterworks. Weathered Weapons take 1300 Tomestones of Soldiery and 1 Unidentified Allagan Tomestone. To unweather them, you'll need 1 Sands of Time. At the time, this is the most reasonable method of getting a reliable high level weapon... and even then, it takes atleast 3 weeks of grinding to get enough soldiery. The UAT is a real wild card too, only coming from Bahamut's Coil and Syrcus Tower too. Whether one drops in Syrcus is all up to chance, and whether you can actually win the lot for one is also up to the RNG again. Obtaining the sands of time, for those like me who have not had the chance of partying up with people for Turn 7 or Turn 9, wasn't hard- but I'm in the minority, I think. Most servers do not have the amazing system Excalibur has for hunts, which is what I took advantage of to get my Sands.

Bottom line is, with how difficult it is to get good high level weapons, the atma grind is a pain because even for all of the hours people spend FATE grinding, the atma weapon itself has absolutely no stat changes- just a new coat of paint. It's a very slow, very arduous, very long trudge with the glimmer of hope at the end culminating after potentially losing millions of gil on materia melding.

Zodiac Weapons are kind of a jerk.

Drop rates aside, you're completely bonkers if you enjoy FATE spam as endgame content.

You know, I was planning to prepare a set of atma for Ninja before 2.4 hits so I got that out of the way.

But the fact of the matter is that the time and luck necessary to do it isn't worth it for the result you get.
Should they nerf it enough to actually make it doable without getting a headache I'll likely just do it anyway. However for now my plan is to just go for an UAT from ST (gonna be a while before I can tackle SCoB) and get some sands ready to just go with a sol weapon when 2.4 hits and upgrade it. (Assuming they'll give us Ninja sol stuff of course... I swear I may get paranoid thinking SE's gonna make us go through another unnecessary maze for every future thing...)

For all of you out there who were very lucky with your Atma drops that's good for you. But after my first set for my DRG I really just can't bring myself to do it anymore.

Lets put it this way i myself got very lucky id go to a spot do fate maybe 15 or 20 times and id get one but my very good friend {who was right there with me) sometimes do 200 fates and get 0 so yea it's not easy and ppl are not wrong the drops are so random that it can make some wanna pull there hair out

I've done 316 FATEs and I have 11/12 ATMA. 64 FATEs in North Shroud still or Atma of the Archer took me about 100 FATEs just to get Bull. The drop rate is ridiculous especially being the fact that you still have two upgrades that require a lot of grinding myth, a lot of time and a lot of Gil. All the other upgrades are pretty much the same for everyone, with the exception of Novus, there are many ways to get that done but ATMA is completely random and different for each player and it's not fair and makes no damn sense...

I get the feeling there' some behavior that increases drop rate, as I've noticed the casual "run over and do FATEs I come across as I do other things" seems to have a far lower drop rate compared to camping them, even taking into account total FATEs rather than time taken.

I'm on my last atma in the aleport area and still no atma after 4 months of trying to get my last atma crystal.....Yeah there are easier ways but when you start to get flusters after doing 70 fates a week.. that's 210 fates a month for 4 months..thats alot of fates and still no atma crystal....come on SE it's time to admit there is a problem with the RNG system and find a way to fix this...

Why do I want to evolve my weapon when I can grind the newest instance to get something comparable?

Yeah the only difference between evolving a weapon and getting a new one (when the time spent to get there is the same) is that you keep the same weapon design, relic being upgradeable means nothing.

I got my first atma off the very first fate I did after being able to loot them. 250ish fates since I'm at 3/12 (I technically have four, but one was a duplicate while doing beast tribe dailies for Sahagin).

I've already got the weathered book of spades now, considering farming hunts this weekend.

I still only have 2/12. I usually go run 2/4 fates every time i play. They never drop. The last few times, while gathering, I wont even participate in the fates.

Honestly, if they don't fix the issue I will never get an atma.

I did the ATMA grind on the first weekend after they implemented them. I got the my very first ATMA on the very first FATE, but of course, Lady Luck is never that kind, so it took about nine hours for my second one. Then, it was about an hour to an hour and a half for each one after that, until the last one took me close to 12 hours. I've talked to people who said it took them a week to get one, and I asked how much they were playing per day, and they said usually an hour or two. Well, that's why it's taking you a week to get it. This isn't meant to be a casual grind by any means. It's meant to be hammered out, where you sit there and keep doing fates until your eyes bleed. That's the only real way you beat the RNGod, because if you chime in just an hour or two each night, then you'll just keep getting bad luck.

Still not a good way to look at it. Spent 43 hours trying to get atma of the water bearer before I gave up when they first came out. I just decided to do them again so I'll have a 4th i110 for my bard and it took me another 3 hours there before I got that atma, so thats 46 hours of grinding fates only to get 1/12. Potentially all 12 COULD take that long, which is just unfair to those with bad luck.

It is luck based and a low percentage drop. As fate completion rates vary from person to person, I'll describe my experience in # of fates which was between 600-700 fates for all 12 going by achievement tracker. My largest dry spell was 132 fates between drops. It was horribly boring and I hated it. But when I'd work on it I'd go through as many fates as possible to maximize my chances. If you are only doing a few fates per hour... It's going to take a lot longer than someone doing 10-15 per hour.

If you are on a class that solos slowly consider doing it on another class or leveling up another one. It was significantly faster once I got my SMN zenith instead of only having SCH available to me.
