please get rid of physical level/rank

it's obsolete now...

It's being abolished in 1.19.

Does anyone know what the system will be replaced with? I've just recently started playing, and while the rank/level system may have its problems, I think it's better than FFXI's system, and I hope that we're not going directly back there.

Physical level will be gone, and "rank" will become "level", SP will become EXP. In addition, each class will have it's own set of points for you to distribute as you see fit, and you gain more points as you gain levels on said class. So now you will be able to effectively play all classes, rather than having to be a melee build (because it's your main) whilst playing a mage (your alt) because you couldn't afford to wait for 2 days to "reassign" points.

Ah really? must have missed it. Sounds good to me, I thought they were removing the Physical level system and putting automated points on each job depending on your jobs level.

I think I might be the only one that thinks this, but the current system is ok for me. I think the new system will be fine too, I just don't want to see us move too close to generalizing classes. As it is now, you make a character for melee and that is what the character is going to be best at. If you want to change to magic, it takes time and effort and I think that is fine.

Nah it's not auto, they wanted to maintain the "customized" aspect of FFXIV, whilst simplifying the system in general (and I believe this new idea does that nicely). It's all there, but it may be spread out info over 2-3 posts in the past 2 months so you'd have to do some dedicated reading to find all the original info.

I think most of us can empathize with this point, but the issue arises when you get multiple classes to higher rank. For example here is my situation:

Main is a 37 GLA (I use this to static with a small group of friends)
Alt is 47 MRD
LS helper is 50 THM (I use this for dungeon runs and other events)

My original build is oriented towards a tank, with viability for a DD, but virtually nothing suitable for a mage besides a little MND stat.

So basically I'd be great on GLA and ok on MRD, but when LS needs me THM I'd be shitty.

The new system will fix this problem. Now I can be effective at any role I need to play within the game whenever I wish, whilst keeping my own unique style. If I wanna be a THM that has high STR for shield blocking then I can, or I can go all out INT/MND/PIE, then on MRD and GLA I can do something completely different.

Really? o_o thats sounds awfull !

I mean Status points is what defines a charachter strenght and specialization, like every normal person there are smarter people with higher IQ and people with more physical strenght than other and not everyone in the world should be fit to do every single thing as they please.... I mean i know this is a game we are talking about... but if we can distribute points and they change every time we change a class... just seems wrong why would my physical strengh or intelegfence change just by the simple fact that i hold a sword or a staff o_o sounds totally stupid. If my char has alot of STR and less INT it's just normal i would be a worse mage.
And it takes away race afinnitys and advantages in certain jobs... So yea i hope ur wrong

I think you're one of a minority lol

Sure, when you apply the idea to the real world it seems ridiculous. But this is a fantasy world, anything is possible. Plus it's a game, so we desire freedom and convenience, not more work and roadblocks. As I said, the points received for each class are fully customizable so you still have that freedom to specialize in something if you so choose.

It's already SE's plan, so fortunately/unfortunately, I'm not wrong.

It's a shame in my opinion i always loved games where chars should have specialization on a class and never liked the idea of 1 person being able to be the best in every single thing, sure these game as it is now lets u be a great at every class but u have to apply time and effort into every class but still your status allocation reflected in wich class you had the potential to be truly great, i mean theres no way the same person could be the best meele player and at the same time best magic user in the game right? That system will allow it.

Another thing this makes me remenber is in the old FF games for example from 7 to 10 when every char had its unique weapon and skills for the most part... i loved that stuff, now recall FFXII where every char can use every weapon and learn every skill and magic and theres nothing unique about any of them... well that sucked cause it made absolutely no diference who u use at any time...

What i forsee for this system is standard Guides with every setup for every single class and everyone having mages and warriors with same status for optimization and well its then just up to the gear and player skill for diference

This is most certainly the road we're heading down, but try not to let that stray you from playing your own way. After all, other players can check your equipment, but not your stats, so no need to "conform to the norm". When it comes down to it though, that may actually prove to be a good thing. Gameplay should focus more on a player's skill than his stats.

Gear /= Skill

Sry but in the lodestone if i do a search for ur name i can check your stats atributes what classes u have lvled and ur chars history to see what quests u did and NMs u killed, i even have an app that displays all about ur stats in my phone all i gotta know is ur name and server

So yea theres no privacy in this game

Sure you could do that, but are there really that many people who would bother to check though? I sure don't check lol. I'm not prejudice of a player, I play with them and let their words and actions decide my opinion of them.

I like the current system, to a degree, because having a physical based set of Points helps you with many classes, as does if you decide to go mage, you had quite a bit of your own thing going on, The new proposed system, is more of like point allotment 2.0. as re assigning is very disadvantagous. The ability to have your stats spread how you want depending on your class is great. It allows for maximum customability, while not allowing characters to be strong due to reaching Caps of stats. and at the same time lets you pick what stats you raise. I imagine it is alot of work fixing xp, creating a new system, migrating users from the old system. The dev team really has been busy trying to make the players happy

I thought they said they would automate say 75% of the points per class and then 25% you could distribute as you wanted?

I think that would be best to be honest, you can still specialise but that way gear etc has more of an effect because everyone will have the same base.

Well are they gonna reset everyones stats then? God I hope so... and I hope they don't mess around with ur attributes too much, that's the one thing that this game had going for it... the uniqueness down to every single stat.

On a side note: I swear if chocobos don't run at 300% or faster, and you can't dismount without losing ur chocobo, then I give up, I'll play the game untill it's pay-to-play but that's it..

This idea could work, if they had some crazy-advanced equipment-job manager screen.. go for it SE, the new system sounds sketchy but hey.... how much worse could it get?<3 XD (don't **** this up!)
