I just want to play Frontlines...

I always wait 20-30m per que. I have talked with other people on my server and that is not the case for them. Even members in my FC who are also in my GC say they never wait more then 10 min. The only difference is our pvp rank. I am 31 and most of my FC friends are 10ish. It is too small of a sample to really get a good read. I know in Wolves Den they try to match equal ranks against each other. This is not the case for Frontlines is it?


What server, GC, wait times does everyone have?

The class you queue on affects the speed of your queues.

Also, obviously what time/day you're queuing would also matter...

The time of day does affect it..as for the first..I seriously hope you're joking.

Think the main problem is the rank, I'm 30 and I can sometimes wait more than 100mins without anything depending the hour of the day (no matter wich job I tag)

There's not a lot of people around those rank, the matchmaking for the front should be around 10 rank gap, I wouldn't mind playing against rank 40 if I wasn't forced to wait hours to play 2/3 games a day -_-

Does Frontlines match based on rank? I am pretty sure it completely ignores rank. I think the biggest factor is time of day and popularity of your GC.

I think there is something like : you won't get pop if the game does not have focus
I'm used to watch series waiting wolve's den pop, and a lot of times i am waiting so long without any pop, and when i click on game to set focus on it, i got the pop in the next 10 sec... Like the duty finder was waiting me to come back into game to say " HEY YOU CAN ENTER ARENA IF YOU WANT"...

This happens so many times, like litterally raging on skype "Fuck of 45 min without Q pop", stop watching some series, click on FFXIV to resume game and "pouf" Q pop...

If there is really something about it, this really suxx, like we must be doing something IG ALL DAY LONG while waiting to do some pvp ....

This is confirmation bias, i have tonnes of pops while i'm alt tabbed because in queue i'm either working on the pvp tools spreadsheet or watching movies/streams

I think it does, heard a lot of people R40 waiting less than 10min for a match. Game propably try to get a sum for the 3 raid within a 5 rank gap.
So with most of the people in frontline being R40 already it's probably harder to find between rank 25 to 35.

May be wrong though, nothing official being revealed about how the matchmaking work. Just hope SE see an issue here, waiting hours to play a match is not right.

aether datacenter, maelstrong, rank 35, wait times vary. usually when it goes over 30 mins i'll requeue and get in within 10 mins.

Guy in my fc last night sat and waiting for an hour while i went and did 3 frontlines battles. he is also maelstrong but sub rank 30.

Usually within 10min as Immortal Flames on Primal. Make sure you're queueing English-only.

Additional question: is queuing as premade (3, 4 or 8 people) a factor when it comes to queue time ?

On the Chaos datacenter, Maelstorm queue can take up to 2h to pop (I guess people switching because they want to get carried doesn't help...) and it's really demoralizing. We end up being forced to solo queue and hope to end up in the same queue/group :/

on aether, adders ques were fast (like 5 mins any time), storm ques were a little longer... but them flames tho.
daytime EST que's for a premade will take anywhere from 10-40 mins. in the evening it is better, but it seems we get the fastest pops between midnight and 4 am EST (5-10 mins)

we generally only que with 6-8 premade which does in fact take longer than solo que.

just switched to flames to get my last r40 and the ques are really slowing us down. hard get 1st on all servers when the hardest aspect of FL is beating the que boss.

EU player, playing at peak time and off-peak. I usually manage to get 5 to 6 frontlines pop in 8-9 hours.

A decent amount of the Chaos PvP community moved to Primal because the matches are few and are between and the matches on primal are just straight up more challenging, if you're hardcore into PvP i would recommend switching :D

Adders are better than Flames on Chaos, but that's just my 2 cents. Anyway I don't see that much difference between both of them since Maelstrom got a 60% ratio of 1st place.

I normally queue solo on two toons one is maelstrom the other adder, both rank 40s. i wait 30+ minutes for every damn thing no matter what spec, healer, ranged or melee dps on Primal datacenter

If the system didn't take your queued class into account, getting into groups with zero healers would be far far more common than it already is. Also (the one part I can prove) if the game didn't care about your class, your 'average wait time' should be the same for all classes, but if you check, they're generally different.

Just because the system allows you to change classes once you're in, doesn't mean that it doesn't factor it into queue decisions. They know most people aren't going to change classes.

There is no difference for my que time when I queued as Monk, Bard, Archer, and Paladin. It is a delusion if you think it is matters. It is also not first time that there is no healer in the Twin Adders.

Class has zero to do with it I saw one match que up 8 tanks. Oh god why do people que as tank. Might as well put I lose button at the starting point.

I would like some clarification on pvp ques. Why doesn't it down scale. If 17 people are in a que why do they have to wait. Why not down scale, maybe have 16 man option. How can a company get 15/24 to start. Three minute wait and 45 second entrance It must go through a few people before start.

A good tank is invaluable. I guess you won't be seeing that much among the FL generation of players though.

Back to the point. Please fix the rediculous queue times. Introduce mercenary, fix the downscale, get rid of the GC restriction...I dont care, just please do something about the 30 min + queues.

Swapped back and forth between BRD + SCH. The queue times stayed the same for each job, so it's not recalculating every time I re-queue. They are different depending on what you queue on. Healer queues fastest? Surprise surprise.

I said the system tries to make decent groups, not that it's a guarantee. If the queue takes long enough, it will make shitty groups.

Average wait timer is just a system level thing done on a per-role basis (Tank/Healer/Melee/Ranged). It has zero bearing on your queue times in Frontline.

Yoshida already said it, the DF estimate the time you have to wait by how long it took to the last person that tagged with the same job as you to enter. In that case let's say a scholar entered the FL and a party was not full so after 1min of wait till everyone accept, plus 2 minutes inside until the DF start to fill hole in teams when the game actually start (wich is stupid), then you can easily see how the bard had to wait 3 min more to get in.

There's no class search here, it isn't that uncommon to enter game without any tank or healer.

I'm on Famfrit, Maelstrom. Played a bunch this weekend. Got from rank 8 to almost 18.

However, queue times were hugely varied. At times, I would maybe wait 7-9 minutes, on up to over 30 plus minutes at it's longest.

I do not believe your job has anything to do with queues. I tried queueing as both DPS and healer during the long wait times, and it made absolutely no difference. Many times I would get in as summoner or bard and there wouldn't be a single healer in the group, and I would have to switch.

NA Goblin server here, Rank 25 Maelstrom.

Last few weeks, queue times have been 30+ minute wait times consistently, and that's not just for me. I've queued by myself and have long wait times, I've queued with my brother (Rank 24) and have had long wait times, I've queued with one FC member (Rank 1) and have long wait times, and I've queued with 3 other FC members (each Rank 1) and have had long wait times. Everyone I speak with on my server about it seems to have the same long wait times. It's really demoralizing and just makes you want to NOT play PvP, which is sad because I really enjoy it.

I queue as BRD, SMN, or SCH and it doesn't seem to matter. As of late, I've been waiting 5-10 minutes and then I re-queue, but it always seems to still take the typically 30+ minute wait, if it even queues (I get impatient and give up). No idea what the issue is. Now it's even more difficult to play the rest of the game, as the tears in my eyes from these long waits blur my vision too much.

I would LOVE to get the sweet PvP gear for my character, as well as the GC mount. At this rate though, ranking up and getting to 100 wins for the mount will take a year+ to complete (not to mention that Maelstrom sucks when it comes to PvP it seems...). Something is not right.

I agree with everything you've said except that Maelstrom sucks at PVP. After sitting around for 30+ minutes each and every time (no matter what job), when I finally do get in we usually come in first place.

With the new patch the average queue time is now actually accurate because it takes your Grand Company into account. Before my queue time would say 30+ mins every time, and now it says 7 mins and is usually accurate within +/- 3 mins. I believe grand company has the largest effect on queue times, and for the least popular grand company you are are just waiting for more in your grand company to start queueing and that's the bottleneck.

From what I've heard Maelstrom has the longest queue times, and that makes sense. They have in my opinion the most convenient city (market board right next to aetherite) and really cool looking allied seal GC armor. My theorey is that while starting city-wise there is an even distribution across all grand companies, later on the more experienced lvl 50 players who are most likely to play frontlines tend on average to gravitate to maelstrom.

The most frustrating part about it, is if I wanna switch to say Flames, I lose my 20 levels of rank.

Really Northern? Then I need to transfer servers, because Maelstrom on Goblin is pretty bad. Out of the 12 games I got into last week, 2 were first place wins, and then 3 second place and 7 third place. It's really frustrating. :/

I was a level 14 Adder before switching to Maelstrom because Adders were always losing. Hmmm... Maybe it's just me. :'(

From what I've witnessed on Goblin, the Immortal Flames seem to be the best GC for Frontlines, as they typically win. Adders aren't too far behind.

@Blubbers - Forgive me for misunderstanding, but why are you saying Maelstrom has the longest queue times? I think you're saying that it's because GC's who are least popular have the longer wait times, but then you seemed to say that Maelstrom is one of the most, if not the most popular GC.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. What I was trying to say is that the most popular GC's have the longest wait time while the least popular GC's have the shortest.

Here's an extreme example that only assumes there are 24 people queueing for flames, assuming people re-queue immediately after each match:

96 people queueing for maelstrom (A=1-24, B=25-48, C=49-72, D=73-96)
48 people queueing for adders (A=1-24, B=25-48
24 people queueing for flames (only 1 team of 24)

In this case, as soon as the 24th person for flames queues, 24 people from each GC enter frontlines. During this time you still have:

72 people queueing for maelstrom (Teams B, C, and D)
24 people queueing for adders(Team B)
0 people queueing for flames

As soon as the first match ends, everyone re-queues and it pops instantly for all flames, Adders B team (20 min wait), and Storm B team (20 min wait).

Next match, everyone re-queues and it pops, exact same flame team has no wait, Adders A team (20 min wait), and storm C team (40 min wait).

Next match, everyone re-queues, exact same flame team has no wait, Adders B team (20 min wait), and Storm D team (1 hour wait).

From there onwards, storm is always waiting 1 hour, adders are always waiting 20 mins, and flames has instant queues.

Sorry I made this so confusing here

@Insipidous I'll give you an example. When I logged in last night, I looked at my weekly rank. I had completed 15 campaigns. 9 of those were first place wins. 4 were second place wins and 1 was third place. I had a 62% first place win rate. The drawback though is as Maelstrom, I wait longer in queue than people who play Adder or Flames.
