The impatience over an extra 20 seconds astounds me.
Assuming you are speaking about Wolves' Den, one minute is a pretty good amount of time, especially since scholars for example need it to buff their entire group with stoneskin, galvanize, protect, etc. The wait time used to be 2 minutes when Wolves' Den first came out, so be grateful it isn't that anymore at least, lol.
Lots of alliances arent full they need that extra time to rotate through those in the que.
At first week it was 2min.. be happy it is only 1min now.
Protect is ineffective in pvp, always has been. Recently there was a big thread on here that had an SE rep confirm that. Then the thread went on for 3 more pages with people arguing it works.
Regardless if it works or not, having protect on yourself is still beneficial since it is another buff on you that an enemy monk for example has to remove with One Ilm Punch.
To you and whoever was dumb enough to like that post, if you're against a mnk in pvp that's going to use one ilm punch, you've already won.
There are some highly experienced PvP monks out there that know when to utilize it (I found an example just for you here @0:08, he removes stoneskin almost instantly from the white mage.) Not to mention Glory Slash which also removes a beneficial buff from an enemy. If protect does nothing in PvP but still gets removed by one of these abilities over regen or stoneskin for example, it does make it useful to have on still. Just my 2 cents. No need to get upset.
Yeah I can see it being rarely useful, the timing on that is pretty clutch though considering your twin snakes buff is more important to keep up. As far as being the dumbest thing seen here in a while, that's downright laughable.
It's really pretty simple. You can either waste 6 GCD's to break a stoneskin on a 7k HP healer in WD, or you can remove it in one ability. Sure, sometimes it will remove protect, but even if it does then it secures your removal of critical buffs later in the fight. This includes all eos buffs, as well as WHM's POM buff. Removal of these really throw off healers and keep them at their base ability (buffless) at all times.
If you are patient, it can also be timed properly to remove an adlo right as the SCH finishes casting. If adlo is mid-cast, rather then doing a True Strike then wait for the Adlo to finish casting and do a one-ilm. You just ruined that Scholars day; they will now need to waste a Surecast or some other CD to get that adlo back up just so that they can cast again.
