Was there any mention of them implementing the ability to change city state to partake in their storyline quests? I know they all end up converging after a certain point, but it'd be nice to be able to follow each citys storyline upto that point. Or have they completely discounted this from being implemented in the future?

I would doubt it. At lease the story line part, since they all run into the same story.
But with the content being that you can see the past and all. It leave this big loop
hole in there that they could do whatever they want with having to re-roll the story. -

Just make extra characters in each city. You can get to level 20 in a week. They are free currently anyway.

It was asked at one point and they said no, there is no way to switch allegiance (and I don't think they have plans to change that, either). So choose carefully.

Considering there is no bonus for whichever city you choose and travel is relatively easy, the biggest factor in choosing a starting city is the story. I gave all three a trial run in OB before settling on Gridania. Like many people, I dislike the Black Shroud and don't spend much time questing or doing leves there. But I like its storyline best. -

It would be nice to experience the other cities' storylines. I felt the Limsa storyline explained more about what was going on, but I prefer Gridania (minus the black shroud layout).
