Summoner and Scholar Question!

Hey, I am leveling my Arcanist and I am really enjoying it a lot. I really like the Concept of both Summoner and Scholar!

Now here is the question Scholar is Mainly Mind and Summoner is Mainly Intelligence, How do you effectively divide the extra points and play effectively?

well to effectly divide. first start of by taking 30 and dividing it in half.

but seriously if you would like you can either go 30 mind / 30 intelligence / or 15 mind 15 intelligence

^ This. I know some people who play both who prefer to go 15 MND/15 INT, and I know others who put all 30 into one stat or the other. Personally, I think putting all 30 into one or the other is best, but I know they both work just fine. Just play around on both classes at 50 for a while, not worrying about stats until you decide which you prefer over the other. If you see yourself healing the majority of the time, go with 30 MND. If you like dpsing as SMN better, 30 INT is the way to go. If you play both classes equally, it's up to you whether you want to split or not, but personally I would put all 30 into INT. I'd rather pull my weight on my dps class and miss out on a couple hundred points of healing on SCH than have super high heals and less than satisfactory damage on SMN.

If you plan on playing both seriously, do 30 INT. SCH does not need the 30 MND at all, but SMN does need the 30 INT.

If you don't plan on playing SMN seriously, then put 30 into MND to help your SCH a tiny bit, but be warned that your DPS as SMN will not be lower then where it's supposed to be

Are you able to put it all into Intellect for your summoner, and when playing as scholar use cleric stance to invert the stats so you have 30 Mind. That's viable, yeah?

It won't be because while Cleric stance swaps Mind and Int, it still drops Heal magic potency by quite a bit

Cleric Stance is strictly for DPS. It boosts your spell magic potency while dropping your heal magic. It doesn't matter how much INT or MND you have. Plus as a SCH you'll get so much Mind anyways from gear that that 30 Mind won't make a difference, your job is to mitigate damage more then heal. Although the 30 INT makes a huge difference for SMN

Yes, nobody can heal effectively in cleric stance. SCH and SMN at endgame also have different equipment sets. One gives INT while the other gives MND. You will literally have 300 points of difference between the two stats if you are appropriately geared, so your SCH will never have very high INT. Cleric stance also reduces your healing power by 35% despite your lower INT being used for healing. Simply put, you will output more healing if you are NOT in cleric stance no matter what stats you have.

I would go 15/15 for the time being. You can then play with 30INT or 30MND, depending on which class you end up using more. As you gear up though, you will find that SCH depend less on MND and more on Crit (you lose 40hp on adlo and 50hp on physick with 30INT compared to 30MND, which is not a big difference when your tank has 9k hp), while SMN depends quite a bit on INT because of the way the dots scale up.

Ah, of course, I neglected to consider gear and the massive differential come end-game. Still only getting my head around the more advanced builds for end-game as I'm still relatively new.

It's not really about end-game gear. Cleric stance swaps your INT and MND stats, sure, but it also increases magic damage by 10% while decreasing healing potency by 20%.

Even if you like both jobs, you could focus on one of them for a while and then swap and focus on the other for a while, using that stat-reallocation item you can get from your GC in between to alternate all 30 points to the job you're dealing with at the moment. (By the time you're high-level enough for it to matter, you're likely to be accumulating more GC seals than you have a use for anyway.)

(I'm going with half and half while leveling up, but plan on switching to that alternating all 30 points pattern once I reach endgame.)

Yeah... I think a lot of people are unaware cleric's stance swaps the two after any mods. Scholar job stone boosts mnd (and I think lowers int), so even not counting endgame gear that divides caster and healer gear, I still don't think you'd have more int than mnd. And even if you did, as other folks have said there's the healing penalty.

When I got arcanist to 30 I chose to continue leveling up by focusing on scholar so I'd have faster queue times, while putting all points into mind. Once I got 50 and got all geared (ilvl 90+) I switched to all class points in intelligence and worked on the summoner job quests (blew through them quickly due to saving greeded caster dungeon drops prior to this) and gearing that up. It really isn't detrimental to healing with scholar at all, I'm ilvl 96 and I only heal for about 40 hp less per physick, and the large amount of crit you [should] have way more than makes up for that tiny amount.
