Color Your Birdie

Assuming nothing changes, when Patch 2.35 is released I plan on dying my Chocobo using the Soot Black dye. Black Chocobo was always my favorite, thanks in large part to Final Fantasy Tactics.

What'cha gonna do?

I'll probably stick to the regular color. That or maybe white.

Of course, that's assuming I'll be able to afford the dye. Given how they do things it'll probably be a hard to get rare drop that requires a 3 star crafter to make, so it'll be very expensive.

Or I could be wrong.

Will require ultra rare items plus ***** crafting recipe to create 1 augment. Will take 18 chocobo augments to dye chocobo. Only chocobo dye will work and is ultra rare drop from ST's bonus chest.

I think white or red would be pretty nice, or a midnight blue. But that's assuming I'd be able to do it easily enough. :(

I want to see the variations :). White chocobo is cool, can't wait till I get my rank 10 dps chocobo armour with white feathers :D.

For me it will either be soot black or midnight blue (Or the chocobo specific dye equivalents if it goes that way.) I may go with black because I wanted a black chocobo in XI in the worst way. On the other hand blue is my favorite color, especially a dark blue.

Purple for me.

I just have a bad feeling that the requirements to color your chocobo will be steep for some.

If not hard to get materials then maybe you need your chocobo to be rank 10 atleast.

I'll probably dye mine either blue, or red.

I'd say I was excited for this feature.. but I'm scared to say such a thing with the track record of this game and all.. Lets just not hold our breaths in case they decide to make some crazy hoop jumping just to do this simple feature as well.

On the note that it will be a readily accessible feature.. probably red, and if we get to use the dyes that are already in the game.. probably a dark red (name slips my mind).

I recall reading a bit about how you will color your bird.

Honestly I forget where, but maybe one of you that are better with the forum search can probably find it. It was a mod post to a particular thread.

But basically, you feed them something, and it makes their feathers regrow that color. I think that the original idea might have been to dye a chocobo, but not unlike little chicks that get dyed on Easter holiday, it might have been decided "unhumane".

I wonder how that will play out though. There are lots of colors! That idea one of you said about crafting it might be right. If I were to guess though, I'd say it will be a culinarian recipe. Like "Pink Chocobo's fried cabbage" or some such... Sound right? That would make sense as culinarian got left out of the recent new recipe books that were released. Odds are you will need to grow some vegtable in your garden and have someone fry it with some "food coloring" or something... who knows...

I have a feeling it's going to be a lot more work than just buying dye.

I'm imagining people leading their chocobos to baths filled with dye and then trying to force their chocobos into the bath. It could be like a mini-game.

I'll think about it once I know whether I can actually do it and not have to jump through all sorts of hoops just to give my bobo a different colour. We all know SE's gonna make us do pointless things for something as simple as this.

Puke green. Not because I like the color, but because no one else likes it either, so at least maybe I'll have 1 single thing in this game that doesn't look just like everyone else.

You need fruits, so it would be gardening, not crafting

If it's crafting related, I'm sure we're going to have to get a level 20 Chocobo, desynth it, 5% chance of getting a Dechocobo Feather which we use to craft 1 of 5 materials to allow us to craft a dye.

In reality, I imagine it'll be feeding them... Much like Chao's in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle! All the power gems!

I really love white. It would be great to ride around as a paladin on that.

I'm also thinking about a light shade of blue perhaps instead.

I'm just worried that none of my armor is going to match it...

White chocobo = trickster hunt mark chocobo from FF12 looool

Probably will take awhile as i'm 80% sure it will require gardening lol.
Only makes sense cuz everything else about the chocobo requires gardening

It's a shame we can't have two-toned feathers for them, really. But I won't harp that.

How about color, barding (optional) and name? You can easily rename your chocobo, after all.

Yes it is Comic Sans. I was bored with the basic font so i changed it lolz -- I typed a full paper for my 11th grade english class in StarCraft font once :P

And the chocobo will have to be rank 20 and fed a rare piece of food that can only be grown in your FC garden with a 1% chance of germination after being fertilized with chocobo droppings and a fertilizer made out of the rarest acquisitions of all three gathering classes. On the 3rd tuesday of the month. Under a full moon in real life.
