So this is the so-called the adjustments of "The hunt"???? Nothing more???lol
You should have saw it coming they already announced they were planning on doing this.
Source? I can't seem to find any >_<
I personally was unaware of any issues with the hunt (casual hunter) but I was hoping for more than fixing the weekly selector...
Yay hunts are staying the way the are?
Awesome I was afraid they'd make som silly change that would make it boring.
If the servers only would wake up though so I can go hunting!

Primary issue is the zergfest. During what we might call "peak hours" hundreds of players, all plugged into about a half-dozen full LS, will zerg like crazy across the world, fiercely claiming any mark they find and screaming to the heavens should any filthy peasant not in an LS dare to try and join in. The forums are packed with tales of mass blacklistings, malicious resetting of a mob leading to zero credit for the finder, and so forth.
... This is why I save hunting for off-peak hours. Much nicer when there's only a handful of parties, all actively roaming about and sharing information with each other. Sure there's a troll or two who'll do something like grabbing a mob when the finding party elected to <pos> shout and wait, or loners who go "no it's MINE and nobody should be allowed to even THINK me rude for making sure only my party can get seals from this one", but on the whole it's a far calmer experience.
I can't say honestly. Some people have suggested a weekly seals cap (but then people would just zerg A and S anyway in hopes of logs dropping), others want Square to nerf the rewards (removing tomestone rewards is a popular idea), still others came up with the idea of improving the rewards from other content to make them competitive (right now hunts are -far- and away the most efficient and unlimited way of getting at anything that isn't named High Allagan such-and-such).
I'm kind of partial to an idea I came up with that's a modification of the old claim system; instead of making it impossible for anyone but you to get credit, it locks the monster to your party so nobody else can pull it, grants a small "finder's bonus", and then alerts the area to its presence. This allows better control by the finder over what they do and how long they decide to wait for other players. (People that just want to claim the mob for themselves by right of "we found it so it's ours and we say this is Square's intent" would forego the finder's bonus and just attack it without using the tag.)
But really it all comes down to community, and that's something you can't really hotfix, which is why I avoid trying to hunt on peak hours. Too many impatient and downright unpleasant people. I've blacklisted about five people myself since the patch came down for either trolling (one supreme jerk lured hundreds of people into an area by setting up shouts that the zone's S-rank had spawned) or being horridly abrasive to other people.
Here's an idea. Make it an actual hunt (tracks, broken branches, beast dung, etc.) in that you need to find these things in order to find your mark. Every track has a small chance to spawn the target a short distance away. It would also allow for more than one mark to spawn thus allowing more to experience the content. They could even drop the myth and soldiery tome rewards from them or decrease the amount you receive.
I knew it was something like that. They said they'd chage "elite marks," not how hunts work. "elite marks" are simply the weekly thing. The wording was pretty clear.
Typical na translation team not getting it correct and now ppl mad, I called this as what we would see, but I was also expecting further tweaks to rendering problems since it was still a little bit off for some
Hunts are going to cost them so many subscribers that they'll have to do something eventually. I've been playing MMOs for 15 years. In any MMO I've ever played, if they make gearing up easy and dull, people quit. These games are all about chasing the carrot at the end of the stick. You can't give the whole playerbase a barrel full of carrots and expect them to still care.
When everyone and their grandmother is 110, the population will take a dive. That's when the real patch notes will come out, but by then it'll be too late.
All I wanted was just a little increase in daily rewards. But it's good to know that Naul won't pop two weeks in a row again. Nobody is doing daily hunts, SE. I would really like to do daily hunts instead of crybaby zerg-fest, but it simply isn't worth it. I ran across an S while doing Novus map and got 30 seals. I just happened to see the zerg, joined a couple people and got partial credit (cause he phased in and out, so fix that crap, too). That "oh, look" moment was worth four days of daily hunts. You've broken the balance with hunts, and you're not doing much about it. At this point it would be a slap in the face to the people waiting for a fix to participate to remove the insane rewards, just fix the damn dailies...
I haven't Hunted since I heard there was a radar tool people were using. I'm not gonna hunt fiercly while someone else just widescans a small area of a map. This is what's broken about Hunts to me.
The only thing they are going to change is make dailies give more allied notes to allow soloers to actually earn a decent amount.
They also announced that they would increase the seals on Daily Hunt bills and adjust the actual Elite Marks in further ways than increasing their HP. The oddity in this is that the previous change to Elite Marks, the increasing of HP and the attempt to make S Marks render with priority, was not foreshadowed in its maintenance by a direct statement that Elite Marks or the Hunt would be adjusted. The fact that this maintenance did, but essentially did nothing to address problems with the Hunt that SE actually acknowledges the existence of and only made a single adjustment otherwise, is absolutely strange.
The wording was not pretty clear. The "Weekly (Elite) Mark Bill" and the freely huntable "Elite Marks" are separate components of the same system. The wording suggested that adjustments would be made to the former, not the latter.
So, the hunt is now officially fixed?Quote:

Yep, good as new!Quote:

I've seen lots of concern over possible adjustments such as weekly caps on seals, mainly from people who didn't want to get left behind because they didn't choose to zerg the hunts already. Well, GOOD NEWS FOR THOSE PEOPLE!!! You can now choose to start zerging hunts whenever you're good and ready, with no fear of the opportunity being taken away!

Wait till September when the youngins are back in school
HUNTS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOSHI? SQUARE ENIX??? What is the problem here? You can't see that this is a problem? Address it and stop acting like Square Enix circa 2003 about this. I came back to FFXIV because of how Yoshida was so responsive to the player base. In fact, I was beginning to feel that he was giving the players too much power. But this, when it is the most needed time to make a real change, ---- nothing. What is this?
Was hoping they do something about NM resetting, Daily Hunt give more mark seal. NM rendering problem. Was quite disappointing to see this is not the case.
I think it's about time we give up any hopes of them changing the hunts.
It's like the atma all over again.
-> People complain about atma rates and grind
-> they change colors of atma.
Please look forward to it!
Once 2.4 comes, everyone will be busy getting whatever new gear drops then and leveling up their ninjas. Nobody will give a crap about the hunts and those who still want to do it for stuff like glamours or minions might actually be able to do it then. I'm just gonna pretend that the hunt "doesnt exist" to me right now because unless I'm in a party of 6-8 scouting things I have no chance of getting anything..and even while scouting I have to compete with the zerg and their 20 linkshells/timers/spreadsheets. I think I'd rather go fish ;)
The carrots they offer in these types of games are wilted and discoloured in the first place, and at the rate patches come out here, they quickly expire and become rotten as well.
At least at this point, the 'ease' of chasing it falls in line with the worth of the actual reward. Prior to hunts gearing up was just grindy, uninteresting, and dull... All for a 'reward' that places you back in the same relative position you were before.
If maintaining the current raid-centric design with strict linear progression that MMOs tend towards is the only way to avoid this, then I won't cry too much, honestly.Quote:

Lots of interesting and fun items to pursue >>>>>>>>>> one or two uninteresting gearsets per patch that are just a direct increase over the prior.
That said, I don't really see this as bucking the trend anyway, and the focus is going to be the same as it ever was come 2.4, but this was at least a nice change (all issues with the actual implementation of the hunt not withstanding), if only for a brief time.
Despite almost a year of patches people foolishly still expect large changes in extremely minor patches. You should know better by now.
