Death by Trade Window!

So I experienced something new today, and thought I would share for those poor souls who may experience it in the future. /busy is your friend.

I was on my relic quest to kill x number of a few different types of mobs. Saspa Spawning Point mobs or something. Anyhow, when I arrived the area was pretty empty, though many of the mobs were dead; you could tell someone had been there recently. I took to killing the NPCs in the only camp where I could see they spawned.

Eventually these 2 whms come along and start AOEing EVERYTHING (I only only been there about 2-3 minutes at this point). I immediately asked if they wanted to group up, and one replied "after you leave sure". I said alright and warned them that I would be there for a little bit. They polished off the last of the mobs I needed and back they went to wherever they came from.


So this time I got smart- hopped into the middle of the camp and pew pewed away. The number of mobs I needed started to tick down, when suddenly they arrived again. This time, one ran right up to me and opened trade. Odd... I closed it. I began casting a spell again... trade. 0_o Spell... trade. Spell... trade. I couldn't cast. I couldn't heal. I really couldn't do much of anything except die, and die I did. In hindsight, of course, there are a few things I could have done to live, but I was so shocked at what was happening that I just sort of fell over.

Luckily, I have a supportive guild who suggested using /busy to put a stop to that. So I return to the spot to get the last 5-6 mobs I need, and here they return. Immediately a trade window opens, and immediately I type /busy. They stood there for a second, obviously stumped on what to do next, and then say "lol /busy! Only botters use /busy! Reported for botting! 2 times!" (since there are 2 of them) and ran off.

I soon after got the mobs I needed and went on my way. I put in a ticket, reporting them for harassment.

Remember folks- if someone trade windows you to death, use /busy to save yourself!

You could definitely report them for harassment

Harassment, Also Blist prevents interactions so I believe, so they wouldn't be able to trade with you.

Aha! Excellent advice. Up until now, I haven't run into anyone who I've felt the need to blist, so I kinda forgot that option was even there. lol. I'll keep that in mind for the future!

Definitely report them for harassment. That is a text-book example of it.

We'll that kind of sucks. What would be the point of those 2 stopping Gana Gati from killing the mobs he needs? Farming?

Ordinarily I'd think that (I had a few run-ins with some rather inconsiderate people hogging karakul when I was trying to level weaver in 2.0), except... it's Sapsa. The sahaguin and elbst don't drop anything, and the relic quest doesn't tell you to kill axolotl so they can't have been trying to farm eft tails for culinarian...

These are the problems that crop up when you lock up everything else while interacting with anything. I already ran into someone who thought it would be funny to keep opening trade every time I tried to teleport.

I hope they get banned for good, without warnings. They knew fully well what they were doing, and they just wanted to screw the OP. Not only that, but they apparently sent a false report, knowingly.

It's unfortunate, but it is situations like this that lead to players not getting to have nice things. After I died, my first thought was "Why is it even possible to trade with me in combat?". After thinking about it, I realized that since the system is currently this way, there are probably people who are used to being able to trade mid-combat now (for legitimate reasons), and it would be unfair for them to lose that ability because people abuse it for their own needs. That said, now that this has happened I can also understand why SE would block it.

That said, it says a lot about my server (Balmung) that I have, up until now, never blisted someone before. I've got at least a few hundred hours into the game, and besides some overly snarky comments and cutscene watcher booting in duty finder, I really haven't run into anything as bad as this before. So I certainly have no intention of letting this one phase me :)

had a problem today myself, I could of sworn it was on purpose.

I was doing my book haukk manor boss, the spawns popped and I was the only one trying to grab the adds cause im a tank, though the dps monk did not help at all when I died and the healer died and the blm died.

he then killed the rest of the adds and did LB bar 2 and I didn't get credit for my book.

I asked why would he do that he left.

He says oh expecting blm to lb 2, though that wasn't a excuse because fact is we didn't have a lb 2 we had a lb 1 and the blm was dead. I couldn't grab all the aggro.

If you die on a book boss and no chance of rez before it dies, release as being alive will net you credit.

Had some guy sight pulling mobs into my aoe while I was soloing alex map the other day. Both fairy and choco pulled hate and died. I ended up winning with 2 seconds left on the clock. Not sure if I should have reported him or not, I didn't.

That's a massive **** move and I do hope those guys get banned for that.

I've fought guild-invite spam using trade-window spam to counter-troll in certain F2P games, but shafting someone during normal gameplay when they've done nothing to you is utter bollocks.

Kind of unfortunate the busy trick is necessary, but at least its an option. My B-List is completely full up with gil-spammers that have never been dealt with, so that solution wouldn't be ideal, but eh.

Wow. That's just... Wow. The courteous thing they should have done was ask what you were killing in the area and offer to help. The sooner you killed the quest objectives for your Relic the sooner you would have left. Though it seems to me that they were there to intentionally harass people.

I wish there was a zero tolerance policy in place for obvious douchebag actions like that. Instant ban since... there's no valid explanation behind it.

You can probably clear 90% of the names from the blacklist. Banned chars aren't deleted so they'll remain on your list not become [Deleted].

I'm sorry this happened to you, Gana Gati. Like you, I may only have a handful of actual players on my blacklist. I love the Balmung community, despite the occasional douchebags running around.

I'm kind of curious as to who they were, considering we're from the same server.

Sorry op that the trade window killed but I use to and still do time to time pop up a trade to stop friends from teleporting then do a emote laugh at them then I teleport us normally cause I had more money to spend

Interesting. I've ran into 2 people who did something similar to me. I was mining and suddenly these 2 people who were nearby started to follow me. I went on my business and stopped after a minute or so and tried to teleport away and one of them opens a trade with me, canceling my port. I tried to teleport again and the same person traded me once more. Annoyed at this point I said, "what are you doing?" and they backed off.

This was a little strange, but maybe they thought I was a mining bot or something for whatever reason.

I also had a somewhat similar situation. Well at least a situation that relates to harassment on our server.

I was doing my Fisher quest in Cape Westwind, when this one Lalafell just came up, got aggro from a nearby monster and very clearly pointed his cone-shaped AoE's at me, trying to get me killed. Then when I stopped fishing (= reacted to that), she disappeared really quickly. I was so shocked I didn't get her name, but I'm thinking she thought I was a bot. <.< I got so mad... Should at least try talking to me before coming to such conclusions. ._. Because that's harrassment and very, very reportable.

Then again, maybe she was just messing with me. Which is sad, since I've always thought our server is so nice! This new hunting system has kind of changed my views. D; I don't think I've ever reported anyone for harrassment until the hunt was implemented.
